Lee losing was bullshit. If 6th gate can take Kisame surely fifth gate should be able to take a young gaara. Even if Lee lost but Gaara walking away with no scratch was the biggest insult and FU to hard work Kishimoto showed
I remember this hitting TV in Australia around 2006. Top fights: Team 7 vs Zabuza & Haku, Rock Lee vs Gaara, Sasuke vs Orochimaru, Naruto, Jaraiya & Tsunade vs Orchimaru & Kabuto and then finally Naruto vs Sasuke. Those fights were absolutely epic and if Kishimoto had the animation stuck to that style of gritty cruel reality in the Naruto universe then it would have been an even bigger hit for western audiences.
I remember returning home from elementary school and all my brothers and sisters where gathered to watch Naruto I was saying lee was gonna win and the hidden lotus I was cheering so hard… but I also remember crying so god damn much him standing up unconscious determined not to be made fun of or left behind. I had a toy if him too he’s an inspiration
At the end when Rock Lee stands up unconscious -- it's a real skill that did come into play later. When he fought Kimimaro he was able to dodga attacks when sleeping (not when he pretended to sleep, but later when actually sleeping).
The Rock / Guy relation in this series is so wholesome and epic at the same time. Rock was way ahead of all of them (except for Naruto and Sasuke maybe)... he held his own against a crazed Jinchūriki. I think he's one of the most relatable/low key best characters because he is "just" a human, like us, who gives it all to surpass the boundaries laid upon him by others or some just even to be recognised. For most of us it's part of our daily struggle...
Agreed, the only time when he actually dissapointed me is during the Guy 7th Gate vs Kisame ... he cut out the most important part of the fight ... Where Tiger and Shark were charging on each other ... all climax of the fight was gone with that moment ...
Going back and watching these reaction videos makes me want to cry. Naruto was at it's peak, and somewhere along the line, Kishimoto lost that magic. I wish Naruto had ended as strongly as it started.
This fight remains my top fave in the show. The music, instead of being another rock theme like when he took off the weights, brings something mystical, almost mysterious - its still *just* taijutsu, but its so far beyond any of them its almost a realm apart, foreign territory as they all watch, barely able to keep up. Then when he goes even *further* and opens the fifth gate, the music drops away to his internal dialogue - just like Naruto, he worked his ass off, and formed a power he was going to use to prove himself against his rival. But unbenknownst to ether of them, he surpassed Neji long ago
He was going through many things as that day not many’s days before he just almost lost to lee got injured by sasuke you could clearly see how mentally bad he was we can tell how much a better fighter he is when sane against kimimaru which Naruto was struggling with along as drunken lee.So yes he was nerfed but not in bad writing we always knew he was insane.Aswell Gaara sleep from wasn’t actuall his tailed beast just him releasing it’s power as we can tail when ever a jinjuriki goes a rampage .
lgnacio berango, how in the hell was Gaara nerfed when he fault Naruto lol especially with all of the abilities and moves he does to Sasuke and Naruto compared to his fight with Rick lee
Still incredibly hard to believe that Rock Lee lost this fight. I mean we can clearly see later in the series how absolutely broken the inner gates are. But hey, the plot must progress somehow.
At the beginning of the Chunin exams, Lee wasn't lying when he said he was the strongest Genin in Konoha. Also, at that point in time, he would've destroyed any other genin in a 1v1, but he had to go up against Gaara.
not even a single women in this reaction cried, I am 24 and I've already watched whole series and this scene more than 10 times but still I can't control my tears.
I wonder how many people in here realized that he just lost all his potential cause his arm and leg was crushed. Really hit him with the Gohan treatment
Every time I watch this fight it makes me so mad, this moment is all about him trying to get over his fear of not being useless and proving that with effort and hard work one can achieve their goals but from this point forward the series made an effort to shit on everything lee is trying to prove and accomplish by constantly getting wrecked. So in the end nothing that lee does matters because the show keeps making it a point to natural talent over hard work, essentially implying that no matter how hard you try it's never enough and there's always going to be people who have it easier without doing as much and are more successful than you and that's a terrible message to get across
But that is also the true part of our world, if you believe in a lie you'll end up more upset. Lee and Guy is a prove that you may be on the top with hardwork but there is always needs some more things like luck or some other advantages. Life isn't fair but if you have enough will you can succeed to level that make you happy :)
@@closery it might be true that people don't always get what they want but 1) the beauty of fiction is that it's not supposed to be real life. 2) there's 0 moments where the message comes across in the entire series.3) if you're not going to make him the role model for the idea of "working hard gets you results" you shouldn't even be selling him as such for the entirety of the fight just to shit on people's faces like that. And 4) this is a Shonen anime, Shonen means something along the lines of "young boy" and the entire purpose of shonen anime is to be over the top and Inspire young boys to pursue their dreams, fight for what they want or what they believe is right, make them feel exited. That's basically going against the entire premise of a Shonen Anime
@@closery "Life isn't fair but with enough will you can succeed to a level that makes you happy" that's a nice message, however that's what this fight and every single one of Lee's fights go against. Every one of Lee's moments end up proving that statement wrong which makes it all just one big lie. I think the only two times Lee ends up with a positive result are during the chunin exams while naruto is away against a random nobody with an ability that's basically watered down eight gates and during the great ninja war when he defeats a "supposedly strong Taijutsu master who nobody knows, it was basically a quick made up filler fight against a random guy with no relevance to the plot whatsoever.
@@closery that said I appreciate you for explaining your point of view in a positive manner instead of raging out or insulting others like most comment sections out there would have. :)
Lee was just wasted... he had so much potential as a character and he simply disappeared in Shippuden... with this fight he became my second favorite character, it's a shame that they only used him as a comical clown later.
Sadly just a side affect of too many characters and not enough time. Editors and anime had Kishimoto's time on a tight budget, so something had to be cut, and it was every one of the Konoha 12 except Naruto, Sasuke, and Shikamaru.
@@SpiritoftheWolf28232this. They introduced so many cool characters in this show early but that can be really hard to manage as the show goes on. Making all these characters stay relevant and have their own time to shine while introducing more and more cool characters is tough. I think other anime like fairy tail had a similar struggle
Fun fact: gara isn’t controlling the sand when he’s standing still it’s his mother, her ashes are in the gourd and she protects him when he’s in a fight but he can control it to but he just lets his mother do some of the work lol
I love this fight and happy how it ended to show lee resolve and Garas strength. One thing I looked at that nejis wasn’t shook about the weights and his speed increase. Lee and Neji deserved better
This is my favorite scene in all of Naruto. Lee is such an awesome character, and this game me such goosebumps. Gaara didn't deserve that plot armor, though.
Rock Lee may have been an example of work smart, not hard. Someone could win by training, kicking and punching as hard as they can, but may not last in the long run. Like using fists to break concrete, instead of a sledgehammer or in this case a Chidori to put a dent in it.
@@cherrygrabber7172 concrete is stronger than sand and it was base form lee too imagine lee in 4th form he should be able to easily break the sand armor because concrete is harder than sand
The manga would have had such a better and meaningful ending if Lee and Gai were the one to defeat Madara. maxtreme91, that would have been the dumbest shit I've ever seen like hell no the manga is perfect the way it ends plus it adds story and more characters and lore for Boruto like stfu 😂
Same feeling, Naruto achieved his dream of being acknowledged by the village, so they could have given more importance to other characters in the fourth shinobi war and somehow kept Naruto away from the spotlight and could have kept away all that Otsutsuki bullshit - then he could have come back to have his final battle with Sasuke.
The fact that Gaara's head didn't fly after a 4-opened gate Lee kick right on his face made all watchers perceive that Gaara was under plot armor for sure.
Oh God how they fucked up the Chunin exams in Boruto. Naruto chunin exams gives chills even now . The background music as well. I remember the eerie background music related to orochimaru . Damn those days

@@MaXtreme91 That still would have been anti-climatic...the Guy vs Madara fight still did alot, someone without any amps at all to hurt someone like Juubidara that much...but it still just wasn't enough....what would have been awesome though, would have been making Juubi Madara the last villain of the show, having Madara dish out all of his Ninjutsu attacks and let it end in a straight up intense taijutsu fight, just like in Boruto with Momoshiki, the taijutsu is what made that fight one of the greatest ever...if Kishi wanted to show up a glimpse of Kaguya's power, he could have shown us a flashback of her fighting Hagoromo and Hamura.
Narutos original message was that hard work and determination trump natural talent. Instead, the cardboard cut out characters of Naruto and Sasuke are basically genetically superior alien-god children with every inherited advantage under the sun, as well as being tutored by the most powerful and important people. Rock and Guy are the real main characters in this god awful series.
Hard work and determination trump natural talent IF talent doesn't work harder. So much for omitting the last part. That theme is cool and all but Cycle of Hatred/YinYang/Concentrated Power vs Cooperation themes are miles better than the cookie cutter and glorified "hard work and determination" Sorry but irl, talent and luck played majority of the success and that's a fact. Not saying you shouldn't work harder tho. Lebron wouldn't be star with 4'9 height and without the black man athleticism. Kinda familiar?
I see so many people critizising how irrelevant Lee became in Shippuden. While I agree that he has potential, the only real way of making him relevant against the villains in Shippuden (Akatsuki) would be by him opening the 8th gate and dying. They could have made the Guy vs. Madara a 2v1 8th gate fight with Lee but, other than that, I don’t see how he could have been impactful.
its crazy to look back on how everyone hated gaara because they didnt know all the crazyness he hads to go through, He is def one of the best written characters.
The biggest insult to Lee was Gaara getting up and walking away immediately after as if nothing happened without any internal bleeding or damage Kishimoto really never liked Lee from the beginning
But if you remember when Gaara returns to Temari; he struggles to stand because he used ALOT of chakra to survive the Hidden Lotus. He wouldn’t have lasted much longer, he was almost out of chakra and unless he utilized the One Tails he was getting close to collapsing
Just that and you are here crying for lee? Gaara grew up with no friends and all alone. Maybe you forgot how gaara's father almost killed him. Since then and till now roco lee have still more supporters and fans than gaara both in the story and real life. Poor gaara just few audiences appreciate him
My favourite moment In Naruto this is what inspires me the most this is what I mean when i define the meaning of hardship i know it's just an anime for some but for me it's just pure emotions.

Definitely my second fave fight in Naruto franchise...next to Kakashi vs. Obito
How about Guy vs Madara?
@@EdilbertFernando that is for me the top one :)
Same man
But they literally ruined him in shippuden like every female characters 💀
@@avi9403 yep
sasuke vs naruto is good too
I remember returning home from elementary school and all my brothers and sisters where gathered to watch Naruto I was saying lee was gonna win and the hidden lotus I was cheering so hard… but I also remember crying so god damn much him standing up unconscious determined not to be made fun of or left behind. I had a toy if him too he’s an inspiration
Love him or hate him, you still have to respect Rock Lee for his hard work, dedication, and commitment
In kids Lee whoops Naruto and Sasuke until Curse Mark Stage 2 Sasuke and 1 Tail Cloak Naruto.
You got mad editing skills! Your videos capture what matters and don't cut out details that we all love. Good job!
Thanks!
Agreed, the only time when he actually dissapointed me is during the Guy 7th Gate vs Kisame ... he cut out the most important part of the fight ... Where Tiger and Shark were charging on each other ... all climax of the fight was gone with that moment ...
Can we just recognize how this is one of the few times in the entire series when someone is able to visibly surprise kakashi with their capabilities!
Rock Lee is like the anime physical embodiment of the Navy Seal training mentality of pushing past your own limits.
Going back and watching these reaction videos makes me want to cry. Naruto was at it's peak, and somewhere along the line, Kishimoto lost that magic. I wish Naruto had ended as strongly as it started.
This is the fight that got me hooked, lined, and sinkered. I WANTED MOAR
But unbenknownst to ether of them, he surpassed Neji long ago
one of the best fights is between 2 characters we only just met at the time
One of the all-time great manga/anime fights ever. It's so iconic.
Gaara was basically a Gary Stue in this one, considering how nerfed he gets against Naruto
To be fair everyone got nerfed 💀
How is he nerfed? He's even stronger in that fight than this one
@@anthonyaquino123. not really but whatever
lgnacio berango, how in the hell was Gaara nerfed when he fault Naruto lol especially with all of the abilities and moves he does to Sasuke and Naruto compared to his fight with Rick lee
Still incredibly hard to believe that Rock Lee lost this fight. I mean we can clearly see later in the series how absolutely broken the inner gates are. But hey, the plot must progress somehow.
yeah exactly, Kishimoto probably already at the time had the story somewhat planned out several chapters ahead and Gaara losing just wasnt an option
@@shiro4129 and you guys realise Gara was a Jinchuriki he had a tailed beast inside ..
@@biswajitshah7633 true
If Gaara wasnt a jinchuriki, the fight ends really fast
@@michiorarimsama7179 Gaara didn't use any of his jinchuriki powers lol
At the beginning of the Chunin exams, Lee wasn't lying when he said he was the strongest Genin in Konoha.
Also, at that point in time, he would've destroyed any other genin in a 1v1, but he had to go up against Gaara.
Goddamn it Sadness and Sorrow hits you EVERY SINGLE TIME
The best fighting anime of history this fight is legendary
This fight showed what the show was supposed to be about bro 🤦🏾♂️ hard work and dedication not gods and transformations and broken abilities
So true
not even a single women in this reaction cried, I am 24 and I've already watched whole series and this scene more than 10 times but still I can't control my tears.
I liked the reaction of the middle-left guy the most. He actually... y'know, reacted and stuff. The others I barely noticed.
That's bc women don't understand the male struggle. We relate most to Lee bc he represents how we as men have to fight for everything we want in life.
He didn't win the fight,he won our hearts
Lee is still young. Might Guy nearly destroyed Madara (also with effort) so I see no value in this argument
The best fight in all the naruto franchise
By far
Soundtracks on Naruto were miles ahead.
Lee was just wasted... he had so much potential as a character and he simply disappeared in Shippuden... with this fight he became my second favorite character, it's a shame that they only used him as a comical clown later.
Facts
Sadly just a side affect of too many characters and not enough time. Editors and anime had Kishimoto's time on a tight budget, so something had to be cut, and it was every one of the Konoha 12 except Naruto, Sasuke, and Shikamaru.
@@SpiritoftheWolf28232this. They introduced so many cool characters in this show early but that can be really hard to manage as the show goes on. Making all these characters stay relevant and have their own time to shine while introducing more and more cool characters is tough. I think other anime like fairy tail had a similar struggle
this kind of animation and storywriting is beyond limit.
17:08 haha I love how one guy was shocked that he intervened and then the guy below was wondering why wasn't anyone going to help.
This will FOREVER be in top 5 anime fights, no doubt.
I remember I was on the fence about sticking with Naruto back in the day, then I saw this match and I got hooked.
Fun fact: gara isn’t controlling the sand when he’s standing still it’s his mother, her ashes are in the gourd and she protects him when he’s in a fight but he can control it to but he just lets his mother do some of the work lol
Dude.. Gaara went up and walked out after that hiden lotus like nothing never happened.
Definitely one of the best fights in Naruto.
I'm kinda curious what would happen in Gaara had used tailed beast cloak.
I still come from time to time to watch Gaara vs Lee. Every time I see the lotus-shaped debris after secondary lotus still gives me the chills...
I love this fight and happy how it ended to show lee resolve and Garas strength. One thing I looked at that nejis wasn’t shook about the weights and his speed increase. He knew and was comfortable to not be bothered. That’s how good he was until lee used the inner gates. Guy needed to teach lee a forbidden Justu to possibly take out neji. Lee and Neji deserved better
This is why naruto is the top 3 best animes..
@@cherrygrabber7172 get you weak ass mentality out from here boi.
@@cherrygrabber7172 concrete is stronger than sand and it was base form lee too imagine lee in 4th form he should be able to easily break the sand armor because concrete is harder than sand
13:11 Interesting how Gai's fight against Juubidara was so similar to and Lee's fight against Gaara. Nice throwback that I never noticed before 👀.
Some of the rock music in Naruto is AMAZING
People like to say Shippuden is where it became Dragonball Z, but this is where it started, this is the Freezer Saga.
The manga would have had such a better and meaningful ending if Lee and Gai were the one to defeat Madara. Skip the space rabbit goddess and chosen one bullshit, just the world saved the two goofy ones who trained their way to the top. Hard work defeating prophecies and destiny. Gai dying a legendary hero and Lee recognised by the world as the greatest ninja.
Naruto could still become Hokage after all his achievement up to this point but that would have been such a power move to have Lee and Gai really saving the world and Gai death would have been the most epic and emotional of the show.
My God that would've been the most incredible ending and Lee would've been GOAT of all anime.
maxtreme91, that would have been the dumbest shit I've ever seen like hell no the manga is perfect the way it ends plus it adds story and more characters and lore for Boruto like stfu 😂
I can agree to this but if Guy were to die, Kakashi probably would've went into a depression and never come out it
Same feeling, Naruto achieved his dream of being acknowledged by the village, so they could have given more importance to other characters in the fourth shinobi war and somehow kept Naruto away from the spotlight and could have kept away all that Otsutsuki bullshit - then he could have come back to have his final battle with Sasuke.
@@hari3556. Everything would have been worse so no the manga and how everything played out works perfectly especially when it introduce the otsutsuki
Lee still standing while unconscious bc his spirit refuses to give up is arguably the most powerful scene in Naruto
Rock Lee had that dawg in him. Then Kishimoto killed the character. This fight got a lot of us hooked in this anime.
Most underrated Saddest scene in Og Naruto and One of the best fight 🔥
One of the best and most epic battles in anime, and also feelings that always make me cry at the end. ❤
The fact that Gaara's head didn't fly after a 4-opened gate Lee kick right on his face made all watchers perceive that Gaara was under plot armor for sure.
9:19 he said it's basically super saiyan, but it's in fact more like kaio-ken i guess.
Oh God how they fucked up the Chunin exams in Boruto.
Naruto chunin exams gives chills even now .
The background music as well. I remember the eerie background music related to orochimaru .
Damn those days
Love it 🔥🔥
This fight alone have more loyal fans than the entire naruto series
17:15 "he is pretty strong to be able to take it" cute xD
18:18 One of the most epic moments with that epic OST
There are so many fights I enjoy from this series. But this one. This one was and always will be RAW.
Nice video! Congrats!!
Say what you want, Lee should have won this fight.
Yes, in fact, but if Lee wins this fight would be another generic naruto fight, this fight is special because Lee lost, i think.

Garra was broken
Narutos original message was that hard work and determination trump natural talent. Instead, the cardboard cut out characters of Naruto and Sasuke are basically genetically superior alien-god children with every inherited advantage under the sun, as well as being tutored by the most powerful and important people.
Rock and Guy are the real main characters in this god awful series.
Facts
no, that was Lee message.
Naruto was than a losser can become the Hokage
Hard work and determination trump natural talent IF talent doesn't work harder. So much for omitting the last part. That theme is cool and all but Cycle of Hatred/YinYang/Concentrated Power vs Cooperation themes are miles better than the cookie cutter and glorified "hard work and determination"
Sorry but irl, talent and luck played majority of the success and that's a fact.

Nice vídeo 👏❤️ Gaara ❤️🤧
its crazy to look back on how everyone hated gaara because they didnt know all the crazyness he hads to go through, He is def one of the best written characters.
Lee: this technique is my ace to take you down
Neji: wait are you trying to kill me?
Thank you
I remember this cool fight
bro I'm high at 1am and the ending made me tear up lmao
Edit: after reading some comments I realized I wasn't the only one
The biggest insult to Lee was Gaara getting up and walking away immediately after as if nothing happened without any internal bleeding or damage
Kishimoto really never liked Lee from the beginning
But if you remember when Gaara returns to Temari; he struggles to stand because he used ALOT of chakra to survive the Hidden Lotus. He wouldn’t have lasted much longer, he was almost out of chakra and unless he utilized the One Tails he was getting close to collapsing
Just that and you are here crying for lee? Gaara grew up with no friends and all alone. Maybe you forgot how gaara's father almost killed him. Since then and till now roco lee have still more supporters and fans than gaara both in the story and real life. Poor gaara just few audiences appreciate him
they dont even realize how much of a beast Guy is. He's so powerful.
This is the best scene of the Naruto franchise. This and Guy's last fight. The whole anime should be called Rock Lee and Guy
My favourite moment In Naruto this is what inspires me the most this is what I mean when i define the meaning of hardship i know it's just an anime for some but for me it's just pure emotions.
9:02 the gate of death just gives me goosebumps knowing what it can do!!!
Gaara's sand armor is the number 2nd strongest of the entire series.
Only second to the plot armor.
Lee still standing at the end brings a tear to my eye
It's crazy that Naruto is such a long running series with and even longer if you count Boruto, but this fight, even though it's such an early episode, remains one of the greatest battle in the series.
This is a serious moment, but the shading on Lee's face at 16:52 is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my entire life.
