I think it’s because it actually takes more effort to make 0.0s. It requires an extra step to remove the alcohol (through a cold filtration method). So if they priced them just based off labour cost, it would actually cost more. They only have them cheaper for the costumers.
All zero alcohol beers are expensive, and yes its down to the complicated process of making it alcohol free. Shame really as id drink a lot more zero alcohol beer if it was cheaper @EvanReichert
It's actually lovely. I wouldn't be in a pub if I wasn't drinking but I always have a few in my fridge at home. Even my aunt who isn't a Guinness drinker has started having a few of these at home as an alternative to the vino. Working from home, it's nice to be able to crack open one of these in the afternoon when I'm sick of the coffee and ribena
I’ve not tried the ‘on tap’ but the can was a game changer. I quit drinking 5 years ago and have never found a non alcoholic drink I like, water and coffee for 5 years is boring as hell and I was gagging for a pint again. 0.0 Guinness put a stop to that urge 👍🍻
As someone who's recently had to go off the drink this seems like a game changer. Sadly I don't live in Ireland, but I hope they'll spread to other countries ASAP!
Its honestly the best non-alcoholic option out there for me. I always found non alcoholic lagers taste a bit "off". This stuff is great and they've really nailed the taste which probably explains why it took so long to get it right. One question if anyone knows but do they still have to charge so much for it? That was 6.10 in the video wouldn't this stuff be free from a lot of the tax on alcohol?
i think the pub still needs to make a profit due to energy costs & inflation, but yeah buying from supermarket should be much cheaper in theory but the it's the guiness brand so they're still charge an arm and a leg
Don't be exposing the alcohol games extortionate pricing with this kind if talk. Places in the country can charge 3.50 a pint still. I don't think there's any need for it to be over 5 but they will never take the prices down.
I'm currently going a full year without drinking alcohol, tried the 0.0 in a can and it was good. Hits the spot for me for when I get the itch to enjoy a pint. I know it has like 0.05 but that's basically nothing.
I've become a big fan of Guinness 0.0 - They've clearly worked hard on it and I think have made recipe changes since it was first released. I'm convinced it tastes smoother now than in the beginning but perhaps that's just me. The whole non/low alcohol beer world is doing great things in general but Guinness is certainly up there as one of the best!
Guinness 0.0% is a game-changer for us non-drinkers. The first ice-cold gulps are just amazing. I think if you leave it to warm up a bit, half-way down the glass you can really tell it's different. Just drink it quickly when it's cold!
Think a lot of people gobshiteing this sort of thing have never been off the booze for a while and been out. Like you say at the end, there's only so many cokes/etc you can have. The psychological aspect of sitting down in the pub with your mates and having what looks like a pint in front of you is huge. I didn't drink for 15 months and the one pub that actually sold NA on tap was a Godsend. In my experience you end up drinking it about the same speed as people on the real stuff, rather than 3/4 of your soft drink down within the first few minutes. I know a lot of pubs can't justify dedicating a tap to N/A, but those that can, hats off to you.
Was off it myself last year. But I'll tell you it was not good when it came out. Getting it from a tap like this? Bound to be much better. It's actually creamy
Guinness 0.0% is going to do massive business here in the UK now that Wetherspoon is stocking it (pint cans so far, but draught is on the way) and the big supermarkets are pricing 4x440ml cans down to £4 or £4.50 on the discount deals. Also the Nitrosurge works really well with the cans once they're degassed.
Fair play to Guinness. When you're nominated driver for a day out or a destination restaurant meal, you don't want a bellyfull of sweet fizzy coke or 7 up. You want a nice flavoursome pint. Only thing they've got to get right now is the pricing.
What price point would you be happy with? I’d pay £3, but they’ll claim that’s just not viable somehow, I appreciate this for alcoholics and designated drivers, but still a huge cash grab to me, as all non alcoholic drinks seem to be
@John Doe I totally agree with your point, non alcoholic drinks in a bar setting are seriously overpriced. It certainly hasn't done anything to combat the temptation of drinking driving. I would love to see the Guinness Zero at half the price of a standard pint. But as you say, they'll claim it's not viable. But then again, most alcohol suffers woefully steep prices due to tax. How can an alcohol free beer be still taxable at the same rate? ? The government moves in mysterious ways hey
I'd certainly be interested in trying it on draught but as of yet, I haven't seen it? I've tried the tins but I found it had an odd 'twang'? Must be popular over where I am in the UK though, as the only supermarkets that sell it have always sold out?
I couldn't get it on Good Friday, none of the locals (Rural) had it and have no intention of getting it in as no one wants it. Fantastic for getting around the laws on alcohol sponsorship which makes me think this is why 0.0 exists.
Just don’t have a real pint before and it’s drinkable, it’s not thick, a bit watery. But a good addition for sure. Just charge a reasonable price Guinness
I had a pint when out for a meal last night and I tell you what, it was a damn sight better than some normal (average pints of) Guinness I've had in some pubs! Great for the designated drivers but not cheap!!
Back in the day of zero alcohol lagers, including Guinness Kaliber, I had just as bad a hangover the next day, we put it down to the method of making it non alcholic. What is the next day after a few of these like?

It's more of an offspring to the Guinness stout line, and not necessarily a 0,0 (so a regular Guinness lacking any alcohol) version of the Guinness we all know and love if you ask me. I like it though, had a few cans during Dry February.
What happened to Guinness 2.8% as I thought that might be okay on Draught as last week I had a half of full strength Heineken mixed with half of Non Alcholic Heineken in a pint glass (think Snakebite) and it was fantastic the only downside was the cost at £4.80 :( but if they can do that with Guinness and make with IPA then it's a game changer in the UK you get 50% tax reduction on brewing Lagers and Beers on anything 2.8%ABV so that needs to be handed down to the punter.
