@@formattedorc So it has been a couple weeks and i'm not sure if you've played the game yet to figure this all out but uh, I feel like a lot of people have tried to explain your questions in a bit of an over complicated way so. let me try and just, lay things out in a simple way for ya. So first, all 9 classes seen here were on release. Tf2 has not released any new characters since the game's launch. Rather, gameplay is changed/spiced up with weapons. every class has a primary, secondary and melee weapon slot, which has been given alternatives over time. 90% of these provide stat changes for each weapon that allow the class to focus on one aspect or another. the other 10% provide fundamental changes to the class. The single largest example of a class fundamentally changing with unlocks is demoman, as he has weapons dedicated to a pure melee build. the "Demoknight." At the end of Meet the Medic, The medic is using his Ubercharge. The closest thing Tf2 has to an ultimate, and likely what inspired the idea for ultimates in overwatch. it charges as you heal teammates and takes at minimum (on stock loadout) a minute to fully charge. When activated, the medic, and his active healing target become invulnerable for 8 seconds. (they still take knockback.) you can rapidly swap healing targets to uber more than 1 person, but the charge goes down faster. The sandvich is the only thing in these trailers not available on launch. rather, it released in an update alongside the video itself. As a secondary weapon slot item for heavy, allowing him to heal, or throw to teamates (or enemies) as a health pack.
I have to say this to anyone wanting to play tf2 for the first time: Please start your experience with community servers. There are griefers filling valve's servers with aimbot snipers that can call vote kicks, sometimes making those servers unplayable. There's a separate tab for community made servers please start there.
I always have a thing I say about how Valve and Blizzard approached the design of their games: When Blizzard found out that people were abusing the Torbjörn turret by simply sitting facing a wall while their turret worked their wonder, they changed his entire kit to make him less reliant on the turret. When Valve saw that people were stacking Engineer and putting five turrets in the flag room, they gave the Engineer a recliner and a complementary beer.
@@formattedorcalmost the same thing happened to demoknight but with gameplay style.when Valve realized people were using the command keys to gain full control of shield charges, instead of just fixing it,they made a whole nother item specifically made for this, which made demoknight much more fun and biable to play.
my favorite obscure detail: when Scout taps the camera in his "I hurt people" line, you can still see the greasy fingermark on the glass in "I'm a force of nature" and other inteview lines after that, but you don't see it on the fight vs the heavy. Valve put in effort to go the extra mile and pay realistic attention to the entire scene, no other devs do that for their trailer anymore, it's amazing.
12:50 the reason why it is actually censored is because Demoman reveals that "they've got more fecking sea monsters in the great Lock at Ness" than they've got the likes of him. Valve Writers are amazing
@@lokic-ug2sc "$400,000 to fire the Minigun for 12 seconds. Attack interval of 0.1 seconds. (According to wiki) 12/0.1 = 120 Bullets fired in 12 seconds for Stock minigun at a cost of $3,333.33 per bullet." Damn expensive bullets.
Something about the Spy video that i only recently learned/realized, is when he said "He could be in this very room, he could be you, he could be me, he could even be--" The red spy finishes his sentence when he reveals himself "(He could even be) right behind you..."
It can also be a reply to Soldier's statement as well. Soldier: "Alright, who's ready to go find this spy?" Spy: "Right behind you" as in "I'm right behind you, lead on" kinda sentiment. Kinda fun like that. :)
another cool detail is when the red spy as scout fakes hurting his hand he does that with the clean side of the butterfly knife where it's not sharp, not the bite side which could really hurt you because it's really sharp
@@caracalcrusader It's heartwarming... from start to finish it was just a masterpiece, and the ending... I confess I was moved but almost to the point of crying *Pootis*
Fun fact: not only is the sandvich an in game item, so is sniper's pee jars. You can throw them at enemies to coat them and they get a debuff that makes them take more damage. Also usable are pyro's rainbow flamethrower and lollipop axe As others have said, instead of adding new classes, rhey added new weapons. From a certain perspective, there are thousands of classes
Well, not thousands, but there are many different meta-playstyles for each TF2 class that in some cases are very situaitonal but in others become a whole new class (DemoKnight). And then there's "alternate game modes" with special maps, like i.e. Mann vs Machine (PvE Horde Mode, 4 mercs defending vs hordes of robots and tanks carrying bombs, with players buying upgrades between waves: weapon upgrades, damage resistances, a projectile shield and ability to resurrect teammates for Medic, the Engineer ability to instantly erect his buildings at level 3 or to erect two sentries instead of one); Mannpower mode (a CTF with grappling hooks and special pick-up upgrades), or the sadly discontinued "Medieval Mode" which allows only a limited list of weapons, mostly melee + Sniper's bow + Medic's healing crossbow); a team vs team basketball mode i forgot the name of, with jump-pads where you have to throw a "ball" through various hoops on the opponent's side to score points.
My favorite thing about watching Overwatch fans react to TF2's character introductions is knowing how different they are from the character trailers from OW. The ones from OW took themselves so seriously and spun a complicated, intertwined story of war, hated, honor, and redemption. TF2 went, "You're here to shoot each other, so here's a bunch of psychos you will love but still won't feel remorse gunning down! Have fun!"
23:55 Easiest way to explain Ubercharge is basically Medic's form of an Ultimate. Different rules to it based on medigun equiped, but base (what he uses in the short) makes it's target and the medic invulnerable to damage for 8 secs
@@formattedorc To add, there are also different Mediguns the Medic can use, the one in Meet the Medic is actually known as the Quick Fix, which lacks the invulnerability that the base medigun contains in exchange for healing teammates quicker when popping the ult.
pretty sure someone's already pointed it out among all the attentions to detail. but in the spy video, there were multiple tells that told you that scout was red spy *he didn't know the code to the room despite the very worn out 1-key *the smug face he briefly makes as soldier opens the door *before blu spy tosses sniper on the table, scout looks to see if his knife's still in the back as it fell down with sniper in the flashback *in the closeup of the knife you can see the blunt side of the knife, which is what hits his hand instead of the sharp one *scout's reaction to the photos is red spy briefly losing his cool and is bewildered how the hell blu spy managed to stalk him like that. he even look more embarrassed and angrily tells soldier and heavy to give the photos back *his overreaction to soldier shooting blu spy, as if he was the one being shot at *i didn't hear about this until years later, but apparently scout's va wasn't present in that video. that's spy's va making a proper scout impression!
since you enjoyed this so much, you should check "Expiration Date"(a short film that was supposed to be the first episode of a Team Fortress 2 adult swim show sadly cancelled), and "Jungle Inferno"( a trailer for an update), the lore of the game goes deep, mostly in the form of comics.
Soldier is a true American XD, big guns and shotguns R.I.P Rick May (Soldiers VA) Also fun fact about Soldier: Though he wanted desperately to fight in World War 2, the Soldier was rejected from every branch of the U.S. military. Undaunted, he bought his own ticket to Europe. After arriving and finally locating Poland, the Soldier taught himself how to load and fire a variety of weapons before embarking on a Nazi killing spree for which he was awarded several medals that he designed and made himself. His rampage ended immediately upon hearing about the end of the war in 1949. (From Soldiers TF2 Wiki page).
@@arlenfreeman3439 The quote "If fighting is sure to result in victory then you must fight" is in fact right out of The Art of War. However, Sun Tzu did not enact Fight Club meets Noah's Ark.
Jeff tolds in the interview that OW are inspired by TF2. If you noticed in early days of the good ol OW. Their gamemodes literally the same as TF2. Control Points, King of the Hill and Payload. 3 core gamemodes in OW were originated from TF2. Especially the Payload Gamemode. Ofcorse they decided to ruins everything by adding 2 behind OW.
To answer your question about the sandvich, it is an item specifically for the heavy and is generally the most used secondary item used by competitive heavies as it can either fully heal the heavy who uses it or it can be dropped to heal someone else, such as a medic that is healing the heavy
Heavy: He's not dumb but he might sort of sound like it because English is his second language. He has a PhD in Russian Literature & is normally a thoughtful, contemplative kind of guy...But he has a short temper & doesn't have truck with fools. Indeed, he doesn't really have any respect for anyone, often referring to them in phrases like "They keep sending me BABIES!" This is why his video ends with "Cry some more!" There is only one person he really has any respect for & that's the Medic (who's video came out *after* Heavy's did), the only person who has indeed managed to outsmart the bullet (& rockets too). Sandvich: If you watch Meet the Medic at the point where we see the Spy's head in the refrigerator, you just may notice that the point-of-view for the camera *here* is in exactly the same position...The "Spy's eye view," as it were. Sniper: Raised in Australia but actually born as a Kiwi (New Zealand), Sniper was always so much different (physically) from native Australians; In the TF2 world, all Australians are hugely buff people possessing superior intellects (Sniper is seen pretty much as a scrawny evolutionary throwback, as established in the TF2 comics at their official website) that have built an highly advanced society across their continent.Yes, those jars that Sniper fills up are actually used as weapons...At The Winglet's RUclips channel is a list of short videos like these that are called "Meet The Items," one of which is the Jarate. It might be entertaining for you to see those videos too (hint, hint); for that matter, The Winglet's whole channel has a lot of great TF2 videos. Engineer: Holds 11 PhD's in various science & technical fields. Totally amoral, just like his whole family of engineers as seen from generation to generation; fulfilling contracts for building any kind of devices is the most important thing to them. He not only designed & built the sentry turrets you see here but also can set up supply dispensers & teleporters for teammates to use for fast travel across the battlefield, healing & ammo, as well as metal that Engineer can use for keeping his buildings in good repair. Scout: The youngest of eight brothers in the family, he had to learn how to run fast, since his brothers were always getting into fights that would be done before he got there to join in. He's 33% faster than any other class in the game & the only one with the double-jump ability. Also has a double-capture rate for pushing Payload Carts & securing checkpoints, making him a natural choice for obtaining objectives & aggressive flanking maneuvers. Demoman: At that point where he's being censored? He wasn't cursing...He was talking about the Loch Ness Monsters & the Scottish government censored him because they didn't want that info to get out. Demoman doesn't eat normal food because "It's me Scrumpy" is where he gets all of his nutrients; at one point when he tried eating normal food, his stomach reacted as if he had been poisoned. For that matter, his bone marrow has adapted to manufacturing a low-level output of booze that goes directly into his bloodstream. Soldier: Yeah, he's nuts. Well, they *all* are nuts but Soldier is a special case, in that he was never in the military, having been rejected due to having "mental issues." Jane Doe (yes, that's his name) *really* wanted to fight for his country so he went to Germany & fought his own war...But this was *after* the end of WW2, so he was technically trying to commit genocide. He only got worse whenever he's sent to Tuefort (2Fort map)to fight because the entire town has been drinking their water from lead pipes for a long time...When the Team discovered that fact, the Mann Co. started sending bottled water with their normal supply shipments but Soldier still kept drinking the tap water ("Bottled what?") Spy: You gotta admire a man that can pull of such a good "Yo' mama" joke & back it up with photos. Yes, the Spy is indeed Scout's biological father & no, Scout doesn't know that; Scout believes that his father is really Tom Jones (yes, *that* Tom Jones). Medic: If you're wondering about that Blue Spy's living, severed head in his fridge, the background on that can be seen in the original concept video named "Meet The Medic - Outtakes," which they never finished. That's the video Valve was working on but they decided to switch it up a bit & finished the second idea video as you see it here. That original video dealt mostly with how the Medic discovered much of the methods of healing that he uses in the game, such as the medicines in the Medkits, the drugs used in his Syringe Gun, & the principals that his Medigun functions. *This* video focuses mostly on his development of the Ubercharge ability. Yes, he's very much the proverbial "mad doctor" along the concept similar to Dr. Frankenstein... Pyro: Arguably the single most insane one of the team. No, let's make that "inarguably." If you take a look at a one-minute video over on Misan's channel, it becomes clear (but not canon) why Heavy refers to Pyro as a "thing," Scout refers to him as a "freak," & Spy ascribes him as having "inhuman" thoughts. Yes, if you can unlock "Pyrovision" in the game, you too can see what Pyro sees as you play the game.
Honestly, yeah, for heavy's statement, he's yet to meet someone who can outsmart boolet. Don't matter how intelligent or clever you are. A gunshot wound is a gunshot wound. The Sandvich, it's a secondary item for heavy. primary fire makes him taunt, eating the sandvich. It can heal up to 300hp, then goes on cooldown for 30 seconds. If it doesn't restore any hp, the cooldown is refunded. He can also toss it to a teammate, letting them heal instantly for half their max hp. Sniper is Australian. And canonically he is the weakest Australian (mainly cause he's actually from New Zealand) Engineer is considered the smartest on the team. 11 PhDs under his belt in various mechanical, architecture, and engineering fields. Scout's from Boston, has seven older brothers...and they're all likely half brothers. He's got quite the god complex. Demoman wasn't cursing. He was blathering government secrets. something most people miss about the soldier one is that he is talking about Sun Tzu that whole time but getting the story mixed up with the story of Noah's Ark, but it ties the Tzu/zoo joke nicely yep, blue spy dropped a yo mama joke...with evidence! Also, this is pretty much evidence of WHY scout is likely only half brother to his siblings Medic...if you've ever seen WH40K stuff and the orks from that, Medic's capabilities as a medic very much follow the same logic that ork tech and color theory works. He believes it will work, it kind of just does. Pyro. Nuff said.
Finally a YT reactor who watches the TF2 Meet the Team videos in the _correct_ sequence, the one they were originally published, which is important because the graphics and storytelling evolves over time from trailer to trailer as we start to learn more about these batshit insane mercenaries.
While overwatch adds more playstyles by adding characters, TF2 adds playstyles with equippable gear that uniquely changes the way you play a class, creating subclasses.
"Professionals have Standards!" RIP Rick May, Voice Actor of Soldier also special to the TF2 Community is, you can start any trailer scene in the comments and people will continue it XD Also taunt kills is a fun thing (or dance taunts, where everyone could join)
TF2 at launch had all 9 of the recognizable characters portrayed in these shorts. As a testament to how well the game design was made, no additional classes have been added or removed and the gameplay is just as invigorating to participate in as ever. When released the game was bundled in the Orange Box and played second fiddle to the likes of Valve's bigger projects Portal and Half-Life 2. The game would go on to garner a cult following of players however, and eventually broke out as a star among Steam's library of titles. With a growing player base Valve would continue to update the game eventually adding weapon variations to change up how some of the classes played along with achievements. Around this same time Valve began releasing these promotional videos to advertise the game as its own thing online. This playlist shows the promos in their original release order. Meet the Heavy, and Sniper came out close together, with each successive short coming out within months of one another with a couple notable exceptions. After Meet the Spy there was a significant dry period where no new shorts were released. In the midst of this fans were quite anxious to see a trailer devoted to their favorite mad doctor but were placated by the likes of things such as even more new weapons being added into the game, and hats, so many hats. An entire economy was built up around trading hats within the game when Valve introduced the trading system alongside the Steam Market garnering TF2 the moniker of being a hat simulator more than an FPS. Valve also gave an open letter regarding the use of game assets within projects by community creators essentially telling them to go nuts. An era of youtube shorts and gag videos inspired by the TF2 community blanketed the internet. Memes before memes were commonly referred to as such which solidified TF2 within the headspace of PC gamers. Finally Meet the Medic would be released after much waiting and to wide reception. The time they were able to take with it compared to the other shorts reflects upon the quality of the final product compared to the others giving it a cinematic feel as compared to the interview style of the other shorts sans Meet the Spy. part of what took Valve so long compared to the other shorts was trying to find a workable concept to structure the short around. Their initial plan was going to involve having the medic fighting a spy, cutting off his head only to have it roll into some experimental ooze he'd been working on which would somehow keep it alive, and, made it indestructible. The whole thing being a bit to explain just how he developed his uber charge technology for his team, but after many re-writes and re-works the idea was scrapped for a new storyboard. The Spies head still makes a cameo however within the fridge begging to be killed as he smokes a cigarette while hooked up to a battery. Furthermore amidst all of this, there was an elephant in the room concerning the game. It had been 2 years between meet the Spy and Medic and the community had a -burning- question that needed answering. The Pyro is an oddity among oddities within TF2. As a character they have no audible voice lines, with their sayings coming out as a mumbled sort of mush from behind their mask making them unintelligible. They wear a uniform that covers their entire body and presumably distorts it in areas making it hard to tell what they actually look like beneath. Within the games assets there are little things such as lockers for the characters, and other small tidbits to add flavor to the world, but for Pyro specifically their locker has an extra optical mask hanging in it, signaling that it is indeed their locker, but it also has a pastel pink purse with a flower resting on its shelf. People noticing these things of course led to wide speculation about the Pyros' gender, considering there are no ladies on the team it seemed to make sense that Valve had snuck in a bit of feminine -flare- with the Pyro being an undiiscernable asset on the team. What's more, the likes of some of the characters have some rather colorful insults to hurl at the Pyro when they are being dominated during a match. Soldier will state "You fight like a girl!" Whereas Demo will shout "Go home lassie, men are fightin' here!" Thus adding more fuel to the conspiracy -fire- Valve was not helpful at all in answering these questions, and was rather tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing until just under a year later, a new update was launched. The Pyro Update fixed a lot of the issues with the class and balanced it while adding an array of new items into the game. It was preceded by a shadow update wherein players found piles of ash and broken bits of burnt items in game. Keen-eyed sleuths would notice some secret codes hidden within these mundane-looking things which lead to an ARG sort of ordeal. Notification of the upcoming update was their prize and the hype train exploded out of the station. Would we get a new short to coincide with the update and finally complete the set? Would we finally get an answer to Pyro's true identity? The anticipation was palpable, and when the trailer was released it nearly broke RUclips. It garnered millions of views within a few short hours and gamers finally had an answer to their long-running question. Is Pyro a guy, or a girl? Well turns out there was a third option nobody considered and that was Pyro is just fucking insane and crazy people don't need justification for having a purse in their locker regardless of their gender, and the community has been content with that answer ever since. The Pyro update also included reskins of the class' stock weapons giving them the look of what the Pyro sees in their alternate worldview of lollipops and rainbows. Equipping them allowed the player to enter into the same visual landscape of color and wonder as depicted by the short. It also changes cries of pain into joyous laughter, and gibbed bodyparts into bubbles and rainbows. Other classes also got to join in on the fun with a pair of equippable Pyro vision goggles. Sadly the game is in a bit of limbo at present. Valve no longer seems interested in keeping its game afloat but the community that plays it is still quite dedicated. The universe of TF2 is insane in its own right, and the mercenaries are insane by an insane world's standard, but that's why they have become so iconic.
While I would highly recommend this game off of charm alone (hell I have over 7,000 hours on this free to play game), the game has been dealing with cheaters and auto kill sniper bots for 5+ years now. Unfortunately due to Valve's "work on what you want" policy, this 15+ year old game is not getting the care and attention for it's surprisingly high player base. The TF2 community has been the ones that's been carrying this partially rotting corpse (though I suppose we were already carrying Redmann and Blutarch already lol). If Valve just gave over the development situation to a third party to keep up maintenance, this game can easily last 50 years or more. The charm, the gameplay, and the awesome characters would keep anyone coming back. 17:30 Spy will forever be the best "Your mom" joke, cause he has the proof.
It will go down in history as the best mom joke! I still want to give the game a try but it is a little disappointing to hear about the cheaters. The humor alone makes me want to play it!
Most TF2 players got hooked on this game and its loveably crazy mercenaries from Valve's Meet the Team trailers. The 2008-2012 graphics may be dated, but the facial animations and writing and voice actors and musics, it's still amazing.
11:00 oof... this game came out in 2007... they didn't have those kind of anti-consumer practices back then. back in those days... 20 f*ck'n years ago... when you bought a game you actually got the whole game. you didn't have to pay extra to unlock characters. *weeps internally
now you should definetly watch tf2 vs overwatch ep 1 and 2 by the winglet. they are great animations to check out, along with other plenty of amazing tf2 sfm videos
The game is free, but you need to buy something to use the voice chat or text communication, because some assholes like to use bots to spam obnoxious stuff, and that's Valve's half-assed solution to fix that. You only need to buy one thing, so get something cheap.
If you ever picked up on it.. the red team likes the Blu beer and the Blue team likes RED beer. Meet the sandvich.. there is red beer and it's blue team fridge.. and meet the engineer.. he's drinking blu beer and he's red team.
All of the classes were base game, no added classes or anything, just added weapons, hats, and taunts to the marketplace, but theyre optional and you don’t really need them, sometimes you get them for free (mostly in a crate that keys go for $2.14 last I checked the marketplace). Also you can only place one turret sadly, that was just trailer fluffing. Also, the game is free to download and play, only paying is for extra items like the mentioned cosmetics and taunts.
Pyro's whole shtick is Pyroland. An imaginary place that pyro sees because of his special goggles made by Mann Co., the people who hired the mercenaries in the first place.
"And Scout's about to run out of here." Me, having seen the video: Oh, he's about to run out of here alright. And he's going to take the suitcase with him.
*_No, in-game the TF2 Engineer can only build one single sentry turret, for game balance reasons._* The standard sentry starts at Level 1, can be leveled up to Level 3 using the Engineer's metal supply (the same way Torbjörn originally used to work in Overwatch 1) which he has to restock from his dispenser, the resupply cabinet in spawnroom, or by picking up ammo packs on the map or dropped by dead teammates/enemies. There is an unlockable bonus melee weapon, the Gunslinger, which replaces the Engineer's stock wrench with a mechanical hand and allows him to build a disposable mini-sentry instead of a big sentry. While the level 1 mini-sentry turret can't be upgraded and has less HP, it costs much less metal, self-erects much faster, shoot faster than a standard level 1 sentry, and is meant to be used for a more aggressive Engineer playstyle where the Engineer is at the frontline, drops mini-sentries at enemies' feet while he relies on his shotgun. Which is why the Gunslinger adds +25 HP to the Engineer's health pool, from the standard 125 HP of Engineer, Spy, Sniper, Scout -> 150 HP, giving a Gunslinger Engi the same health as a Medic, to add survivability. And the Gunslinger robot hand has two build-in special attacks: 1. If you use it to melee an enemy, every 3rd punch does increased damage. 2. You can perform a "taunt-kill" called Arm Blender aka. Organ Grinder, which when triggered locks the Engineer in place for 2 seconds while he revs up the hand, then thrusts it forward. The Engineer pulls a rip-cord from his mechanical prosthetic, revving the hand of his Gunslinger up to vicious speeds, after which he thrusts it forward, gibbing any enemy player slow, unaware, or simply unfortunate enough to be within reach. The taunt inflicts several 1-damage hits and stuns the victim during the initial contact with the hand. Upon the Engineer withdrawing his robotic appendage near the end of the taunt (which in total takes 4.7 seconds), a final blow of 500 damage will be inflicted, instantly killing any class that is not invulnerable at the time, even overhealed Heavies (who have 450HP instead of their normal 300HP). The stun effect of the taunt works on both ÜberCharged enemies and enemies under the effects of Bonk! Atomic Punch, but will not kill them. This taunt can be aimed manually depending on the direction the player was aiming at the start. This can allow players directly above or below the Engineer to be killed by the taunt if they were aimed at previously. The range at which the taunt will kill is 128 Hammer Units, past which it has no effect.
it took me way to long to get the soldier's joke about the animals all being in only one place... it's called a zoo, because it was invented by sun-zoo.
Fun Fact about Meet the Medic: The medigun that is used ISN'T the stock medigun, it's actually the quick-fix, it's Medic's first medigun but couldn't fully handle the undercharge and got burnt out after Meet the Medic, so instead it was altered to have a faster healing rate when it's charged up instead whilst Medic made the stock medigun that can handle ubercharge
*HEAVY* - A big strong Russian man who prefers not to divulge any personal details. At most, he's willing to talk about his prowess in the battlefield. *SNIPER* - A cold, calculating assassin from Australia with a professional presentation. Supported his parents, even if they had concerns about his career of choice. *ENGINEER* - A level-headed machine expert who ended up in the mercenary business after discovering secret blueprints written by his grandfather. *SCOUT* - The youngest of eight children, and nowadays the fastest runner of the bunch. He loves running his mouth and impressing the ladies (his luck in the latter is questionable). *DEMOMAN* - Part of a long line of Scottish bombardiers. Has an immense ruthless streak in battle and an unnatural alcohol intake - but otherwise an alright guy. *SOLDIER* - A civilian who was turned down by every military branch during World War II, but still went on his own killing spree in Germany (lasting 4 years past the war). Absolutely deranged, and somehow a licensed lawyer. *SPY* - A dapper gentleman whose impeccable style is matched only by his bloodlust for literally stabbing backs. He's also decent at keeping his loose-cannon teammates in check...even if his patience with them does dwindle. *MEDIC* - A frightening miracle worker with a morbid fascination in improving his patients (regardless of consent). Yes, his smiles can look very evil, but he does have some genuine care for his teammates. *PYRO* - Barely anything is known about this man (if they're even male, let alone any human). All anyone is certain of is that they're childishly obsessed with spreading fire and pain.
If you’re interested, there’s this cool RUclipsr called DougDoug who made a video about the differences between Overwatch and TF2 called “Overwatch vs TF2 explained with food” IIRC
Fun fact: The TF2 BLU Engineer Dell Connagher canonically has 11 PhDs, inherited the notebooks of his genius "Mad Scientist" grandfather Radigan Connagher, and worked on an oil rig before he became a mercenary working for the Administrator like his grandpa before him (back in 1890). Team Fortress Classic is canonically set in the 1930s, while TF2 is canonically set in an alternate history Earth of 1968-1973... An alternate history where the Australians invented super-tech due to finding the quasi-magical metal Australium in the 19th century Australian Outback (and in New Zealand)... a metal which can be used to craft supertech, be used as an unstable endless energy source, and also mutates humans and animals: It turns strong people inso insanely muscular supermen and superwomen, turns smart people into super-geniuses, but also gradually makes them, erm, _mentally deranged._ (insane) Also, longer exposure to Australium grows luxurious moustaches and beards... except on the Sniper, who is from Australia but it was later revealed he was the child of two New Zealander Mad Scientists who got stranded, baby-Superman-style, in Australia.
Another fun fact: Canonically, Jane Doe the TF2 Soldier _is a civilian_ because he was too insane so none of the US military's branches accepted him in their ranks when he, as a young man, tried to enlist in WW2 in the early 1940s to "kill Commies and Nazis". So he crafted his own rocket launcher and grenades from scrapyard scrap and old army surplus soup cans, grapped a shotgun, and bought himself a ship ticket to Europe... in summer of 1945. Yeha you can see where this is going. Soldier arrived in East Europe when WW2 had just ended, and started killing what he thought were "Commies and Nazis". Whoops. It took until 1949 until someone managed to get close enough to him to tell him the war had long ended. In the TF2 comics, it was casually mentioned that Soldier also went to Guam during the 1960s and.... well, likely committed some war crimes there. Although considering he's not a real soldier but a certified "Section 8" homicidal madman with lead poisoning, what he could be charged with is anyone's guess.
Team Fortress Classic and Team Fortress 2 have always had these nine classes of mercenaries, which are playable with their stock weapons from the start. There will never be more. It's not like Overwatch's MOBA-like design where new "heroes" are added which constantly neccessitate the buffing/nerfing/reworking of entire character ability kits. Although one TF2 meme is the old rumour of the "10th class" which allegedly Valve once tried to develop. TFC had the "Civilian" class in the Escort Mission game mode. And for a while during pre-development phase for TF2, Valve had experimented with various other ideas, like an X-Com-esque "Soldiers vs Alien Invasion" game with planes and vehicles, where teams of human players fighting A.I. aliens would have consisted of 11 soldiers + 1 commander, also played by a random player, but the commander would not have been on the battlefield himself but be able to watch the battlefield from above, give commands to his team etc. It was dropped after playtests because the commander role was deemed too passive and it became clear that if an imcompetent player was randomly selected as commander the whole match would be chaos and basically a loss. Also, it would have neccessitated voice chat, which carries its own problems esp if players from different countries play together. And PCs in the early 2000s couldn't properly handle big battlefield maps with many A.I. controlled enemies.
Yes, TF2 and TFC both always had nine classes (not counting Civilian). But remember that TFC is itself a remaster of the Quake mod Team Fortress. When the Quake mod first came out it had only five classes: Soldier, Scout, Demoman, Sniper and Medic. It did get the other four in later updates so if you do go to the trouble of digging the original Team Fortress up, your version will likely have all nine classes.
Now _this_ is a real reaction video. Anyway... Team Fortress 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Overwatch (and all else in the subgenre)
If you think this is wild, you should check out the comics. Edit* I want to add a fun fact i haven't seen in the comments yet, When scout dies from an explosion and gibs there's a chance for Archimedes (Medic's Dove) to fly out
so heres a thing you zoomers might not know, but tf2 was released with all characters, yeah they didnt 'update' and release characters because that wasnt a thing back then, they just released trailers and updated their game throughout the years
The Engi’s Trailer is a bit misleading. You can only build one “Turret” they called Sentry Gun in the game, but I don’t mind you calling it a turret. Not only Engineer can build Sentry Gun, he can upgrades with it along with his 2 more types of buildings. Dispenser a building that provides healing and ammo within its radius. Think of it as Healing Pylon on the ground. And he can build Teleporter. These buildings also have 3 levels. For Dispenser it will provide Healing, Ammo and Metal more efficiently while Teleporter have shorter cooldown time. There’s a one more building which makes Engineer played more like Torb is Gunslinger which replace normal sentry gun into adorable Mini sentry provide 25 more max health. And makes you be a bit more aggressive. As Engineer in TF2 you are usually nursing your nest. Than go out there and shoot people. All of the builds can be move around by right click.
the bot crisis since 2020s, cheaters and general sweaty scumbags with pocket healers will not make your time enjoyable. stay clear of casual and the tutorial sucks major d, be warned.
The ONLY problem with TF2 is that since its decade old, lack of players... and that has brought secondary problem, aimbotters.. but if more players that would be fixed
My favorite part about these reactions, is the slow onset realisation that none of these people are fully sane or stable
It was awesome! Some of the best videos I have seen!
The single largest example of a class fundamentally changing with unlocks is demoman, as he has weapons dedicated to a pure melee build. the "Demoknight."
At the end of Meet the Medic, The medic is using his Ubercharge.
(they still take knockback.)
you can rapidly swap healing targets to uber more than 1 person, but the charge goes down faster.
The sandvich is the only thing in these trailers not available on launch.
rather, it released in an update alongside the video itself.
As a secondary weapon slot item for heavy, allowing him to heal, or throw to teamates (or enemies) as a health pack.
Thanks! I really appreciate the info! @@typhoon1575

I have to say this to anyone wanting to play tf2 for the first time: Please start your experience with community servers. There are griefers filling valve's servers with aimbot snipers that can call vote kicks, sometimes making those servers unplayable. There's a separate tab for community made servers please start there.
I always have a thing I say about how Valve and Blizzard approached the design of their games:
When Blizzard found out that people were abusing the Torbjörn turret by simply sitting facing a wall while their turret worked their wonder, they changed his entire kit to make him less reliant on the turret.
When Valve saw that people were stacking Engineer and putting five turrets in the flag room, they gave the Engineer a recliner and a complementary beer.
Wow! That's hilarious! They just want Engineer to be comfortable!
@@formattedorcalmost the same thing happened to demoknight but with gameplay style.when Valve realized people were using the command keys to gain full control of shield charges, instead of just fixing it,they made a whole nother item specifically made for this, which made demoknight much more fun and biable to play.
Very cool! @@VortexF
fr, I think valve is one of the only game company to actually respect turret-based classes
most of the time they turn the turrets into absolute crap
Well one of the classes was made due to a bug… that being the SPY!
my favorite obscure detail: when Scout taps the camera in his "I hurt people" line, you can still see the greasy fingermark on the glass in "I'm a force of nature" and other inteview lines after that, but you don't see it on the fight vs the heavy. Valve put in effort to go the extra mile and pay realistic attention to the entire scene, no other devs do that for their trailer anymore, it's amazing.
That is amazing!
I don't see it
@@AdamGaming-vf1qspay extra attention to the bottom right corner
12:50 the reason why it is actually censored is because Demoman reveals that "they've got more fecking sea monsters in the great Lock at Ness" than they've got the likes of him. Valve Writers are amazing

Something about the Spy video that i only recently learned/realized, is when he said
"He could be in this very room, he could be you, he could be me, he could even be--"
The red spy finishes his sentence when he reveals himself
"(He could even be) right behind you..."
O wow! I didn't notice that!
It can also be a reply to Soldier's statement as well.
Soldier: "Alright, who's ready to go find this spy?"
Spy: "Right behind you"
as in "I'm right behind you, lead on" kinda sentiment. Kinda fun like that. :)
@@formattedorc the voice actor of both spys is the same (also he voiced for the pyro)
another cool detail is when the red spy as scout fakes hurting his hand he does that with the clean side of the butterfly knife where it's not sharp, not the bite side which could really hurt you because it's really sharp
Also…when blue spy hands “scout” the knife…he’s already figured him out
Yep basically everyone you see was there at launch. The only things that were added were new maps.weapons, and most important HATS!
That's awesome!
TF2 is a war-themed hat simulator....

Fun fact: not only is the sandvich an in game item, so is sniper's pee jars. You can throw them at enemies to coat them and they get a debuff that makes them take more damage. Also usable are pyro's rainbow flamethrower and lollipop axe
As others have said, instead of adding new classes, rhey added new weapons. From a certain perspective, there are thousands of classes
The jars?! That's hilarious!
pee in jar
Mad milk
Like Fat Scout, where you play as Heavy but act more like a Scout.
Have fun!"
As a self-admitted addict to Meet the Team Reaction videos, this was really great.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
23:55 Easiest way to explain Ubercharge is basically Medic's form of an Ultimate. Different rules to it based on medigun equiped, but base (what he uses in the short) makes it's target and the medic invulnerable to damage for 8 secs
That's awesome! I really appreciate you telling me!
@formattedorc p.s you can change targets mid use
Very nice! @@RostoyaEgarov
@@formattedorc To add, there are also different Mediguns the Medic can use, the one in Meet the Medic is actually known as the Quick Fix, which lacks the invulnerability that the base medigun contains in exchange for healing teammates quicker when popping the ult.

*before blu spy tosses sniper on the table, scout looks to see if his knife's still in the back as it fell down with sniper in the flashback
*in the closeup of the knife you can see the blunt side of the knife, which is what hits his hand instead of the sharp one
*scout's reaction to the photos is red spy briefly losing his cool and is bewildered how the hell blu spy managed to stalk him like that. he even look more embarrassed and angrily tells soldier and heavy to give the photos back
*his overreaction to soldier shooting blu spy, as if he was the one being shot at
*i didn't hear about this until years later, but apparently scout's va wasn't present in that video. that's spy's va making a proper scout impression!

Soldier is a true American XD, big guns and shotguns
R.I.P Rick May (Soldiers VA)
Also fun fact about Soldier:
Though he wanted desperately to fight in World War 2, the Soldier was rejected from every branch of the U.S.

I like how unclear it is. Does Scout scream in fear, or trying to either scare the enemy or cheer himself up. Probably all at once.
I find it hilarious that Soldier believes a Zoo is called a 'Tzu' because of his Sun Tzu story and he can't tell the difference between them.
Given how bat$#!+ insane TF2 canon is, I wouldn't be supprised if the stuff he's telling the severed heads is true.
@@arlenfreeman3439 The quote "If fighting is sure to result in victory then you must fight" is in fact right out of The Art of War. However, Sun Tzu did not enact Fight Club meets Noah's Ark.

To answer your question about the sandvich, it is an item specifically for the heavy and is generally the most used secondary item used by competitive heavies as it can either fully heal the heavy who uses it or it can be dropped to heal someone else, such as a medic that is healing the heavy
Your laugh is contagious dude, keep making videos (:
Thank you! I appreciate you saying that!
He only got worse whenever he's sent to Tuefort (2Fort map)to fight because the entire town has been drinking their water from lead pipes for a long time...When the Team discovered that fact, the Mann Co. started sending bottled water with their normal supply shipments but Soldier still kept drinking the tap water ("Bottled what?")
Spy: You gotta admire a man that can pull of such a good "Yo' mama" joke & back it up with photos.
Yes, if you can unlock "Pyrovision" in the game, you too can see what Pyro sees as you play the game.
this is what you say when you're 13 and trying to explain your niche interests to your grandma

And canonically he is the weakest Australian (mainly cause he's actually from New Zealand)
Engineer is considered the smartest on the team. 11 PhDs under his belt in various mechanical, architecture, and engineering fields.
Scout's from Boston, has seven older brothers...and they're all likely half brothers. He's got quite the god complex.
Demoman wasn't cursing. He was blathering government secrets.
something most people miss about the soldier one is that he is talking about Sun Tzu that whole time but getting the story mixed up with the story of Noah's Ark, but it ties the Tzu/zoo joke nicely
yep, blue spy dropped a yo mama joke...with evidence! Also, this is pretty much evidence of WHY scout is likely only half brother to his siblings
Medic...if you've ever seen WH40K stuff and the orks from that, Medic's capabilities as a medic very much follow the same logic that ork tech and color theory works. He believes it will work, it kind of just does.
Pyro. Nuff said.
Thanks for this comment! I really appreciate the info on all the characters!
Given how insane the TF2 universe is, it wouldn't be the least bit supprising if that Sun Tzu stuff was canon.

Soldier will state "You fight like a girl!" Whereas Demo will shout "Go home lassie, men are fightin' here!" Thus adding more fuel to the conspiracy -fire-
Valve was not helpful at all in answering these questions, and was rather tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing until just under a year later, a new update was launched.
Wow! That's a lot of info! Thanks for filling me in!

The game is free, but you need to buy something to use the voice chat or text communication, because some assholes like to use bots to spam obnoxious stuff, and that's Valve's half-assed solution to fix that. You only need to buy one thing, so get something cheap.
amazingly funny reaction
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

If sniper stays true to his standards, does this mean he has a plan to kill the entire mercenary team?
funnily enough heavy is one of the smartest mercs
he even has a phd in Russian literature
If you ever picked up on it.. the red team likes the Blu beer and the Blue team likes RED beer.
Meet the sandvich.. there is red beer and it's blue team fridge.. and meet the engineer.. he's drinking blu beer and he's red team.
I definitely didn't notice that! That's awesome!
During Meet the Sandvich, it's the heavy update includes new weapons like Natacha and some stuff.
Pyro's whole shtick is Pyroland. An imaginary place that pyro sees because of his special goggles made by Mann Co., the people who hired the mercenaries in the first place.
"And Scout's about to run out of here."
Me, having seen the video: Oh, he's about to run out of here alright.
And the Gunslinger robot hand has two build-in special attacks:
*HEAVY*
- A big strong Russian man who prefers not to divulge any personal details. At most, he's willing to talk about his prowess in the battlefield.
*SNIPER*
- A cold, calculating assassin from Australia with a professional presentation. Supported his parents, even if they had concerns about his career of choice.
*ENGINEER*
- A level-headed machine expert who ended up in the mercenary business after discovering secret blueprints written by his grandfather.
*SCOUT*
- The youngest of eight children, and nowadays the fastest runner of the bunch. He loves running his mouth and impressing the ladies (his luck in the latter is questionable).
*DEMOMAN*
- Part of a long line of Scottish bombardiers. Has an immense ruthless streak in battle and an unnatural alcohol intake - but otherwise an alright guy.
*SOLDIER*
- A civilian who was turned down by every military branch during World War II, but still went on his own killing spree in Germany (lasting 4 years past the war). Absolutely deranged, and somehow a licensed lawyer.
*SPY*
- A dapper gentleman whose impeccable style is matched only by his bloodlust for literally stabbing backs. He's also decent at keeping his loose-cannon teammates in check...even if his patience with them does dwindle.
*MEDIC*
- A frightening miracle worker with a morbid fascination in improving his patients (regardless of consent). Yes, his smiles can look very evil, but he does have some genuine care for his teammates.
*PYRO*
- Barely anything is known about this man (if they're even male, let alone any human). All anyone is certain of is that they're childishly obsessed with spreading fire and pain.
The developers have said that TF2 was an inspiration for OverWatch
Awesome! That makes a lot of sense!
Rip rick may
Tf2 is still active to this day and it’s free to play 😊
If you’re interested, there’s this cool RUclipsr called DougDoug who made a video about the differences between Overwatch and TF2 called “Overwatch vs TF2 explained with food” IIRC
Awesome! I will definitely check it out!
Notice demo smacks the grenade on the table, activating it 12:33 😅
I'm glad you like these! I think TF2 is a great game, but without the humor, it wouldn't still be so popular.
Tf2 mains satisfaction of their favourite (old) game being noticed
Meet the Spy is the best for having the greatest Your Mom joke (With proof)
Now _this_ is a real reaction video.
Anyway...
Team Fortress 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Overwatch (and all else in the subgenre)
If you think this is wild, you should check out the comics.
Edit* I want to add a fun fact i haven't seen in the comments yet, When scout dies from an explosion and gibs there's a chance for Archimedes (Medic's Dove) to fly out
I didn't know that! I will definitely be checking out the comics!
BEST REACTION to these!
so heres a thing you zoomers might not know, but tf2 was released with all characters, yeah they didnt 'update' and release characters because that wasnt a thing back then, they just released trailers and updated their game throughout the years
23:27 theeth back but couldn't heal demos eye for god sake
Not meaning to be rude at all, but I really wasn't expecting your voice to be like that😂
All good 😂😂
I need you to play tf2 with me. I adore the game. And yes these are all amazin
We should! If it's got this humor in it, I will for sure!
you really should try it.
All of the classes were here at launch. It would be really stupid to just add characters with updates.
Part of the video got silenced. You were talking there, but that got muted too.
Most likely Meet the Pyro since the Pyrovision portion uses Copywrited music
@@BlackdragonTheShadow I know
why does some audio feel cut or "fixed"/sped up?
For example sniper says "I think his mate saw me" and this videos says "I think IT might saw me"
I noticed that too
Like a scuffed cd
the bot crisis since 2020s, cheaters and general sweaty scumbags with pocket healers will not make your time enjoyable. stay clear of casual and the tutorial sucks major d, be warned.
Thanks for the tip!
@@formattedorcI recommend a series of servers called uncletobia Which are owned by a RUclipsr called uncle Dane.
26:00 audio cuts completely
We should try it out!
We should!
26:25 i assume this got claimed?
The ONLY problem with TF2 is that since its decade old, lack of players... and that has brought secondary problem, aimbotters.. but if more players that would be fixed
If you whanna see a funny guide of tf2 watch dr valve
On my list to react to my friend! Thanks!
Watch expiration date
Already have my friend! It was awesome!
bro just pick one
26:08 does anyone else here anything
Muted because of copyright
If you think these are good wait until you hear valve studio orchestra
If it is as good as these then I will love it for sure!
I think I'll install overwatch and I will play bastion
