Well I can tell you my story of why I LEFT BUZZFEED. Basically they said I had to leave the building because I didn't work their and to stop eating the doughnuts they're for the employees then they called security
Anthony Fantano (bald guy holding the belt) didn't actually work at Buzzfeed. That video was a joke/parody. Guy makes good content if you're into music.
I don't understand you guys in the comment section : they are never saying that other jobs have it easier or that the media works differently. They left because the company didn't meet their expectations. It happens all the time. Why are you being so negative? They use their new yt platform for their own content and even if they have their following due to buzzfeed doesn't make them bad people. If you work as a florist for many ywars and then build up your own flower company, that wouldn't be seen as cheating either, even though you take advantage from your former job
The problem is they come off as ungrateful spoiled brats who don't realize the opportunity they had working at buzzfeed and the doors and connections that were opened to them because of the buzzfeed brand. Do you think we'd know have of these people if they tried to build themselves on their own???? You can look deep into youtube and find plenty of people putting out good content who will never near the light of day in terms of views because they don't have the resources buzzfeed has. In the end these people are still kids who haven't learned how the real world works yet. They'll eventually learn, it happens to everyone. Advice to those watching this, don't go through life like these people. Be grateful to any employer and opportunity you get, if you don't like your job you can always get another one. You'd be surprised how kindness goes a long way. But going about, bashing your former employers online is not a good look for you as a person. It will divert some people from wanting to work with you and cost you opportunities...
But some of the things they’re pointing out are things that should already be known like I mean if you’re a researcher for a company you’re not gonna go to another company and share your research with them like it’s not that shocking and like sure it doesn’t make them a bad person if they got their following from buzzfeed but the message it sends says that they couldn’t make it on their and so took advantage of a big company and then when they were ready and had gotten popular off the attention of that company they just quit, again it doesn’t make them bad people but it doesn’t look good and it doesn’t say a lot about the kind of morals and values they have
If you are a florist and you want to open your own flower company, that's great. But if you talk shit about your formal boss as the overture of your own company's grand opening, then that makes you look bad.
Isa fd they can't until thier contract expires and if it already bizzfeed would pay them a shit ton of money Bc buzzfeed rely"s on them and ladylike but now they are creating pero like
Eugene is unlikely to leave. He and i believe the other try guys are pretty high up on the food chain there. they have very different contracts that people like saf and candice had. they can pretty much create anything they want.
Guys. Shush. BuzzFeed stinks. Their 'talent' stink. This is a transparent fad to siphon viewers from their former employer using that tried and true RUclips tactic: Drama. Fuck whatever their excuses are. Fuck BuzzFeed. /thread
This video is put together in a really bad way. My head is hurting trying to remember who is saying what and what is a persons actual full story.. Ugh... 😤😤🤢
Anu I think that might be the point, not completely sure, but they all seem to be saying the same thing and the editor was possibly attempting to emphasize that
I think it visually relays the confusion, abuse, control and feelings of being invalid within a company. They too probarbly felt not defined just patches in a quilt that did not belong to them.. It sounds like employers of Amazon.. You hear and see the final products but the treatment of the employees are not highlighted because the product is what the public wants.
Funny how people are saying that they are whining about everyday life and telling them get over it. Pretty sure if you were getting treated terrible at your job you wouldn't be like "Oh well, that's life for ya, lol"; you would complain either to yourself or others. Complaining is a normal part of life, it helps us to move on so leave them alone.
To all the people complaining You cannot simply pump out "creative" content everyday,9hrs,that are supposed to pass the 1mil benchmark.Just as you cannot expect painters to come up with one new amazing painting everyday. It takes inspiration, lots of failed attempts, and certainly more than a DAY.
Watch the full video. In addition to working 9 hours, they had to do other work from Buzzfeed. Creative fields have draining work PLUS unpaid overtime homeworK, I would quit too!
@@sofiadarie1755 Indian employees would be laughing at the complains of these people who say they have to work for 8 hours. A 9 hour/day is the MINIMUM working time in India. I am used to working for 10 hours a day here in India. Ita normal. Though I get half days during weekends which is nice.
@@sofiadarie1755 Oh you're right about that. We have made it normal here , but that certainly doesn't mean it's the right way of going around things. I mean people here don't even complain about it anymore. If I start working like 6-8 hours a day I would be throwing parties every week !
FYI: It's very common for creative companies to force employees to sign documents that state ANY creative work they do outside the office belongs to the company, not you, the creator. Disney's done this at least since 1990 when my husband worked there. In fact, Disney's contract states that they own everything in perpetuity "throughout the universe." Not joking. Welcome to the entertainment field, people.
Like I said, this is common practice, as far as I know. It sucks, it's not fair, etc. etc. What, you think the rich people in Hollywood are the writers? Some, yeah, if they're top of the ladder. The average writer gets bupkis. Execs, stars, deal-makers, bean counters-they control the money. I once wrote a comic book for a certain large studio, and the accountant cutting my paycheck didn't understand the pun title on my invoice, and the little sh*t forced me to change the title to get paid. Even my editor couldn't help me on that one. Hollywood is insane, and not always in a good way.
Simple way around most creative clauses - simply write a detailed email with almost everything you are interested in, ideas for videos, houses, cars, furniture, products etc etc etc before starting send it to yourself / friends / parents. You then have proof your ideas were pre employment resulting in the company can only claim ownership of actual content created while being directly paid! It also gives you a legal footing for claiming royalties / TM /CR for future income earned by said company!
And that's exactly what you're supposed to do. You will rarely get what you're truly worth working for other people because that's how it works. Never give the company everything. Never give what you can't afford to part with. They're never going to give you everything so reply in kind. Give what what you need to attain your check and acquire the skills and reputation you need take away. Business in regards to employees is minimum pay for maximum output. Employees in regards to business is maximum pay for minimum output. And this is the perpetual tug of war. Competition or lack thereof is the only thing that will cause it to fluctuate.
:( i mean i don't want them to stay there but once they leave they can't be the try guys anymore, which is bull considering how hard they work, the attention and fans they brought in, and how they made buzzfeed twice as popular.
i totally understand what these people are saying since i've worked on tv production back then and had some segments and we have to go live on a weekly basis...the editing, the shoot, the script, the costumes... it's really hard to "create" something when you're literally doing everything and multitasking and you get burnt out plus your PA's are practically useless because they also have a gig of their own with another show and your boss is just there expecting you to come up with something every meeting when they come in the office in midweek... it's a great experience though if only there's manpower, bigger budget and you really get paid higher for spending so much time in the station... and yes, it gets frustrating when you have all this idealism of how you can use your voice in the given platform and you just can't, which i understand from what they are saying... when you are in the creative field, most people have a mind of their own and would want to produce something of quality and it really slowly kills you inside if you're in a place where it's only the money that matters...like in their case, more hits, more subscription, more e-money... i later then tried moving to a competitor station but didn't work, for some reason, they have this non-verbal cold treatment when you're coming from a competitor station and couldn't figure out that you as a person is not a representation of the other station and it always get to be brought up from time to time which can be annoying... what you don't understand is, when you're in the creative field, you put your thoughts, emotions to even your life in it... it's you brain in material form and you want to take pride in what you do and you would want to use your platform as something substantial... so it most often don't work... the kind of environment that they are in would be best for people who really just want to work for the paycheck and not for passion...
I'm not even mad about all these "Why I Left Buzzfeed" videos. All the people who broke up with Buzzfeed should make their own company and just do whatever they want tbh
"Wed be working for like 8 or 9 hours a day and It wouldn't allow for time to work on my own stuff" you mean like a regular job? "I had to make videos about stuff I didn't want to do" so like in a regular job. These people feel so entitled they forget that it's the same shit the average person puts up with.
Branden Heit ikr I am a massage therapist and I work 10 hours a day an my boss has the nerve to expect me to massage as many ppl as I can. The nerves of my employer wanting me to do my job. The buzzfeed ppl r crazy they just experienced a job
I don’t think you realize how different this is from a normal, conventional job. If you’re giving people massages, it is not the same as making unique and “creative” videos everyday, which were expected to go viral. It’s kind of like being told to write unique and creative short stories everyday that was expected to be best sellers every day. It’s a draining experience.
Yeah it sounds like my job at McDonald’s. Got the experience, won’t go back. I think they need the experience and then they’d probably feel more grateful that buzzfeed kickstarted their careers as internet shit talkers and entertainers.
Do you have to create unique ideas and have them become globalized? Probably not. I work 12 hours a day four days a week - I don't complain because I enjoy my work but If I had to constantly work on making new ideas all day it'd drive me up the wall. I'd burn out and just become depressed. Especially when they didn't allow for growth within the company.... I'd say if people start working there it should be as a entry level job before moving onto something bigger - work there no more than 2 years then move on.
You know, I think there’s a very different mentality that you put into creative content. If people want to have more creative control over their work, it makes sense that they will feel a bit of pressure when working in restraining and demanding environments. Most of these ex Buzzfeed employees don’t completely portray the company to be antagonistic (.... or maybe just a little bit.), they just stated that creating their own content is more fulfilling, and having ownership of it is more beneficial. .......and then they had to make a video about why they left buzzfeed, cause people won’t stop asking if they don’t. Like are y’all really trashing these creators for answering the question that people won’t shut up about? What else do y’all expect them to say?: “Oh Buzzfeed was spectacular, I don’t even know why I left.”.... like... no...
I think they would have read and understood the conditions of the contract but then later decided that it was too shady for them, a contract is a contract but they don’t always have to be fair or bearable.
alright their reasons aren’t perfect but pewdiepie can’t even rag on them because he’s literally doing what everybody else left the company to go do and has made crazy success not working for a company
Probably because those types of videos were originally their own ideas that BuzzFeed just took credit for since they work for the company. It's no different than say, Super Mario being Shigeru Miyamoto's own original idea yet whenever Super Mario is mentioned many people usually think of Nintendo the company.
All the good people that left buzzfeed should just come together & make their own "buzzfeed" / channel, that way they can totally all grow together, take buzzfeed down since buzzfeed did strict them & get their creative freedom back!
uh that's kind of a shitty idea since they worked for buzzfeed and i would lose respect for them if they just start trashing buzzfeed when they were known for it in the first place..also they made their own decision to work for buzzfeed which is a company
I don't care fo felix's input in this video. If I wanted his input I would watch His video. Thats not what I'm here for, I clicked for the comp, he kinda ruined the video. He doesn't belong here
Ya idk why he’s acting all high and mighty. It kinda rubs me the wrong way. If you’ve seen Kirsten and Jens video, you’d know it goes much deeper than “working 9 hours a day”. And the comments he added were just unnecessary and rude.
Sukirina Daisuki well even though they sounded like spoiled privileged children, they also are taking a stand on what they can do, instead of taking it and not be at a place that resembles a Chinese sweat shop. So kudos for them. That’s how mitu and other independent companies started. Necessity is the mother of invention.
I mean yeah. Isn't 9 hours pretty basic time to work? My school days in high school were usually 8 hours. But like if you get tired of something why continue. Just find something else.
Less that they were asked to do their jobs, it was moreso because quantity over quality is, well, that's how most businesses are. It'd be nice if more cared about quality. But, also because they were not allowed to work on their own projects. Buzzfeed, effectively owned all of their ideas, whether they were intended for Buzzfeed, or not. So, they quit and became their own bosses.
@ChaoticButterfly. That may be but that is normal for a media company. It's nothing new. Every idea you think of should go to that company. Think like this. You come up with some amazing ideas for videos, you are working for a company that made videos, your job is to come up with ideas for videos but instead of using that amazing idea you have for your job you use it for yourself and give your job something shit. Maybe you even give that idea to someone else and you make money off of it. This way Buzzfeed and other media can almost be sure that they will never get the best from their employees since they all hold it for themselves. The only way to get the best is to claim all of it. If you don't want it claimed then make it when you're not under contract for such a company. It may seem like a shitty practice but if they don't then they may not even get any vids since the employee could keep them all to themselves. You sell your ideas to the company that is the job. If you don't give them your ideas then you're not doing your job.
Suzanne Niemeijer The people at Buzzfeed are required to consistently put out ideas, and at least one of those ideas, each month, is expected to go viral. So, there is no way to keep that job and _only_ give them bad ideas.
ChaoticButterfly sure but that doesn't mean you always give them your best ideas. Your ideas is their property. They pay you for them. So when you make something for your own gain of your idea, you are not really doing your job. This is why everything you make is owned by them. They payed you for your ideas then you should use them there not somewhere else.
veni vidi Yes, I have indeed seen the channel. But I think you're over-exaggerating a bit. But I also thought your comment was funny hence the laughing emojis.
Ivonne Valle well see when you say use it implies they had the agenda to use buzzfeed and not to stay there. the context made this seem like you were judging them
Oh, I am implying that they had an agenda and yeah, I am judging them. It still doesn't take away from the fact that it was a smart move. You do what you gotta do to get ahead.
"They own your intellectual property" Well yeah, they pay you to get creative and make videos. You sold your ideas to the company. Why would you complain about them not letting you have your own channel? That would mean you're not giving your all to them = wasting their money when you're not fully there
Think you might be missing a major point here? Buzzfeed's contract states that anything they create is the property of Buzzfeed. If they create this content, off the clock, on their own time, Buzzfeed takes it as their own, does not give credit. Imagine for a moment that you work in a field like say...i dunno, landscaping? You work hard for your employer, you get your job done. But on your days off, you volunteer at a local park, fixing it up, making it look nice. Then when the park is done and everyone is talking about amzing it is, your employer steps in, and says "This is our work. We did this." All without contributing so much as a single penny. They claim your hard work, and give you zero credit. It is in fact illegal in the united states to not credit Animators, costume designers and writers for their work. You can have a contract that states the content belongs to you, but if you dont have a list of credits naming the writers and such, you are breaking the law. These laws were passed because hollywood was using a copyright loophole back in the 80s to trap writers with certain production studios. By not crediting the writer, the writer now has no proof of their ability, and can find work nowhere else.
@park bommie... clearly you don't understand the agreement. buzzfeed wanted to own all intellectual property... even off the clock. so if every night you went home and wrote the great american novel and got it published while you worked for buzzfeed... they could sue you for the rights and all proceeds and all projects related to said book, till the proverbial cows come home. do you not comprehend that this is abuse of power... or do you just like having corporations own people?
awww.. another SJW!!!! have you heard about employment contract, love??? if you applied for the position, interviewed, got selected, when presented the offer accepted it and signed the dotted line which says that whatever content created you created is owned by the company... guess that time you did not care about corporations owning the people. It is 2 years later, when you used their platform to create a brand recognition for yourself, you care about corporations owning people... hypocrite much!!
It's just a silly site not meant to be taken too seriously and pretty much filled with non cerebral content. I would hope that anybody working there doesn't think they are contributing to anything earth shattering or artistic.
Valid issues: -quality over quantity -not having any rights to your own ideas or content -not being allowed to have any projects outside of buzzfeed -disliking your job/ being made miserable by what you're doing Invalid issues: *Having to work 8-9 hours a day*
honestly all of them are invalid, if you work out McDonalds they don't let you sell Big Macs on the side. This is nothing more than the worse generation ever crying cause they didn't get their way.
@@chrisle2674 this comment is really confusing. First you said "all their feelings are valid" and then you called them the worst generation ever for being lazy? Also McDonald's doesn't tell you you can't make burgers in your free time if you work there. Your argument is bad. I took issue with the guy who complained that he had to work a regular shift (8-12 hours a day). However you can't tell me that my generation is the worst when we had nothing to do with WW1, WW2, Vietnam, the mass manufacturing and distribution of plastic to meet a consumer demand, deforestation of the rain forest, lynching people for the colour of their skin, residential schools, the 2008 housing crisis/recession, Black Monday, Stephen harper, Boris Johnson, the introduction of crack to US inner cities, the lack of decent public health care in the US, the cost of going to post secondary, the majority of the anti mask movement, consistent systemic racism and homophobia written into laws, and the holocaust to name a few. Just because we want minimum wage to be what it was intended for (a minimum income to support a family of 4's cost of living), reasonable medication costs, proper health care, and good education does not make us "the worst generation", we are a generation that has been tasked with cleaning up the absolute shit show, mess that was made for us by the previous generations. That is why we are all anxious, depressed, and have ADHD.
invalid being without foundation or force in fact, truth, or law. Businesses do not let you profit as an employee here in America. making a video or cooking a burger for private use ok. taking it public not ok. its called work at will here in America Also were did I mention minimum wage? I don't know your age but I was referring to millennials who are quickly and quietly approaching middle aged and have failed at life. Gen Z is passing them up in the job world Millennials are the Karen's on social media that people confuse for my generation GEN X. Gen xers are now around 50's and the boomers are headed for 70. Boomers use to be the worst generation ever but than they had kids
@@chrisle2674 I'm a millennial and I miss read your first comment. Baby boomers, and Gen X Are both worse. "Karen's" often refer to baby boomers and Gen x aged people thinking that they are entitled to something for no reason, they are the generation of "the customer is always right" you guys fucked the world up for us, you guys made this world, and you made the generation of people whom you believe to be "the worst" just because we were raised by your fucking generation and the one before you. You had it easy as hell and now that it sucks out here for recent college grads trying to find work, for people with 3 degrees working dead end minimum wage jobs, for people having to work 3 jobs just to make ends meet, your generation is the one calling us spoiled and entitled. I've got news for you buddy, I worked 3 jobs all through highschool and college and I STILL lost my job due to covid, I had money saved and I still struggled to be able to afford my prescriptions and food. People running the world are STILL 99% YOUR GENERATION AND THE ONE BEFORE YOU. DON'T GO TELLING ME THAT MY GENERATION IS THE WORST WHEN WE ARE THE ONES TRYING TO PURCHASE LESS, SAVE MORE, AND CLEAN UP YOUR MESS. In conclusion, go read a book that does not directly coincide with your narrative then kindly fuck off and go complain somewhere else. You seem to completely lack empathy and the fact that you don't believe that not liking being treated like shit by your employer isn't a valid reason to quit means that you don't deserve a shred more of my time or respect.
...it's a job, get over it. You work for a company, you do the work you are told to do. People think that because they make RUclips videos that it's not a job, buzzfeed is a business that makes videos. How do you think tv channels work then?
The thing is that they weren’t getting credit for their work. Tv shows have credits. Which literally credits everyone who worked on it. Businesses should be giving people credit for their work. That is my main issue for buzzfeed. Also, not allowing them to work on things outside Buzzfeed was pretty unfair.
Me Mo also they generally are all full of pretentious bull crap from people who say things without filtering or logically thinking out their words before saying it.
Sorry but THIS IS LIFE ya'll! I've worked in comic books and record labels - all of these complaints are S.O.P. If you create content for anyone they usually own your intellectual property unless you have agreed prior to your hire. And many companies have an agreement for people to not compete with them when they leave for a period of time. Further, working sick, insane hours at a job is what your parents did and your grandparents did. And you weren't promised any growth or promotion. You get a paycheck. Or you get fired when they clean house. Not bashing ya'll but it does sound like a whole bunch of kids who had no clue as to how any form of entertainment business works. Yes, Disney, Warner, Sony? Same thing. You're all fodder to be used unless you bail, get in with the current regime, build a name for yourself or get fired. For what it's worth multitasking all the time is what the rest of us have to do to eat. Go ask a teacher about it and I'm sure you made more than they did.
omg u are TOTALLY right!! we shouldn’t be complaining or demanding the creative fields treat employees better, we should just accept being treated like garbage!! what kind of spoiled brat wants to be treated like a human being anyways??
omg! you had to work 8-9 hours a day and couldn't use your skills for side work? it's almost like you have a real job! you also don't own what you create for the company? how unfair!
Seriously. I thought it was going to be worse complaints, but this is literally many ppl's reality no matter what they do. Research is the same and worse. U don't own anything and u don't get paid for overtime and working on weekends. Demanding side projects outside of work is such entitlement.
rjkbuny wait, what?! lol sorry I'm confused if you guys ever worked at a good company. That's not entitlement you probably just work at a bad place. I can easily work at my company go to the gym, work on editing for RUclipsrs, have my own stream and moderate other streamers, while being able to have a social life...you guys are either not happy at your job or not ambitious enough. Which my company is driven by education and skill, you can move up easily.
true but i think them being entertainers or artists, it's a little different for them.. they love their jobs or feel like they need to love their lives i guess... it's not like most of us who just do a job cause.. i mean we have to survive XD
Not really the case of betrayal things. They didn't actually work for another company. This is kinda abusive but fair enough, this is life. But if they don't like Buzzfeed then it's okay. It's their choice and if they see something wrong with Buzzfeed and decided to leave. It's a normal thing. Everybody is different so you need to grow up.
Sorry kids but your lack of knowledge going in to work @ BuzzFeed is kinda spooky-like. Of course!! they hold all copyright and ownership on whatever you create in their office/studio spaces because they pay you (poorly from what I've read) and own yo' @$$ from 9-5. That's why so many go indie, and struggle, but at least they are crafting the kind of work they want to. Best of fortune to all....
Except that they're not just talking about 9-5 while in office. They are saying that Buzzfeed does not allow them extracurricular creation. Basically, if you do it at home, on your own dime, outside of the company, they still believe they own it... >_> Which is why they should make sure to have copyright workarounds.
That’s why I would first read the contract to see that I would be okay with working for them or not. All the people that left buzzfeed that started their own RUclips career, very few are successful. The ones I would always see is Safiya, Michelle, and now The Try Guys. Starting a RUclips can be tough.
Well, I think people should see work at Buzzfeed as a way to get your face known. Once you have that, you can quit and move on and do your own thing. It's like paying for fame with your talent for a temporary amount of time. Companies don't own you, and sometimes they forget that. If you're not careful, you could too. Never look at a job as permanent thing.
OMG! They had to work 8-9 hrs days for 3 months, and they were burned out? Haha. While I was in the military we'd train several times a yrs, working 7 days a week for upto 4 months...with 4-6 hrs off to sleep, shower and eat.
idk man but there are like two types of being burned out-mentally and physically. like hey thank you for saving lives and protecting the country but do not invalidate :/ people don't need to go through the same shit just for them to prove they're burnt.
"You're not allowed to work on any projects outside Buzzfeed / they own your IP". Of course. That's standard practice across the globe. Welcome to the media industry,
So basically everyone that made BuzzFeed tolerable is gone now??
now the try guys too...
no they just have a new chanel
Amelie morin no they bought the rights to "the try guys"
Try guys left buzzfeed they bought the rights to it and is now broke
Iris Brill At least we still have Unsolved
Safiya is too good for buzzfeed, she deserves better
Thankfully, she IS getting better. She grew so fast and rightfully so

Buzzfeed is just going down hill especially since all the good people left

What a close-minded, prejudiced opinion.
No its not. Buzzfeed has sucked for awhile now, though
Sorry it's just my opinion it's just I don't really like some of the people in there videos cause to me they're not funny
There were good people at Buzzfeed?

he also reviews rock, metal etc.

Company meeting expectation of employee?
That never happens, you have to compromise and work.
If the guys from buzzfeed unsolved leave I will probably never watch buzzfeed again
same
Alanna C yeah for real
Alanna C Exactly!
I call them the asthmatic mystery solvers.
Cringy Autist WHEEZE
The moment any of The Try Guys leave buzzfeed I'm out
Isa fd. same...
Isa fd they can't until thier contract expires and if it already bizzfeed would pay them a shit ton of money Bc buzzfeed rely"s on them and ladylike but now they are creating pero like
SAME
Isa fd SAME they're literally, probably why I started watching buzzfeed, and mostly what I watch from them😂
Isa fd yup same
once eugene leaves, buzzfeed is fucked
OOF amen
I doubt you would notice the difference.
OOF yup true
Ugh... 😤😤🤢
Anu I think that might be the point, not completely sure, but they all seem to be saying the same thing and the editor was possibly attempting to emphasize that
Anu me too
I think it visually relays the confusion, abuse, control and feelings of being invalid within a company. They too probarbly felt not defined just patches in a quilt that did not belong to them.. It sounds like employers of Amazon.. You hear and see the final products but the treatment of the employees are not highlighted because the product is what the public wants.
Panda_ Party22 it’s called an opinion, hun. No need to get butthurt lmao
Anu Let me sum it up for you... *B U Z Z F E E D S U C K S*
The point is they weren't getting treated unfairly they were just asked to do their jobs!
Buzzfeed takes their copyright though
TheCrap they signed a contract that most likely said they would.
Distant Dreams yeah but its wrong
TheCrap then they shouldn't have got a job at buzzfeed
So who the fuck actually works at buzzfeed now
New people.
he left.
Aidan Jelic Steven?
Trump
boring people
if one of the "unsolved" guys.. i'm so done.
trollingSHCJ there's like four of them but I bet you didn't know. I personally draw the line with the try guys.
Sergio Velasco Ryan, Shane and who are the other two?
Only thing I watch from BuzzFeed.
Andrew and Steven from Worth It. The other series that keeps buzzfeed alive
well uh this aged well
"I was there for 8 hours everyday!" yeah kid...that's what WORK is. You exchange your time and skills for money.
"Skills"
foreal I bust my ass in a warehouse for 10-12 shifts, buzzfeed would be a dream in the $$$ not breaking a sweat smh.
Jessica Sanchez
sounds like a dream job...until you experience it in person...
firefirafiraga unless ur current work environment is much worse then getting paid to make a 5 minute video of fat people problems
Stef T my school is almost 8 hours every day
To all the people complaining
You cannot simply pump out "creative" content everyday,9hrs,that are supposed to pass the 1mil benchmark.Just as you cannot expect painters to come up with one new amazing painting everyday. It takes inspiration, lots of failed attempts, and certainly more than a DAY.
Yeah, if some told me to make a creative fantastical drawing everyday and then having to finish it at home with out being paid I’d quit too.
I stopped watching when he complained about “8-9 hours a day” that’s a job buddy
Watch the full video. In addition to working 9 hours, they had to do other work from Buzzfeed.
Creative fields have draining work PLUS unpaid overtime homeworK, I would quit too!
It's not tje number of hours only inportant, the amount of working
@@sofiadarie1755 Indian employees would be laughing at the complains of these people who say they have to work for 8 hours. A 9 hour/day is the MINIMUM working time in India. I am used to working for 10 hours a day here in India. Ita normal. Though I get half days during weekends which is nice.
@@Rudi_Mentary723 i know, but just because there's worse situations that doesn't mean it is fine
@@sofiadarie1755 Oh you're right about that. We have made it normal here , but that certainly doesn't mean it's the right way of going around things. I mean people here don't even complain about it anymore. If I start working like 6-8 hours a day I would be throwing parties every week !
"we were working for 8-9hrs" so, like a normal job?
And they spend half of it to gossip and complain about everything .
Honestly when Freddie is gone, im gone
Same.
Kayo Splash I know
Kayo Splash and jen
Yes her and Quinta as well as the other girl with the curly hair.
LMAO yeah or Quinta
FYI: It's very common for creative companies to force employees to sign documents that state ANY creative work they do outside the office belongs to the company, not you, the creator. Disney's done this at least since 1990 when my husband worked there. In fact, Disney's contract states that they own everything in perpetuity "throughout the universe." Not joking. Welcome to the entertainment field, people.
It just sounds like a regular company to me, not to mention its the only reason these people are successful now.
Disney!:)
Disney!:)
It also gives you a legal footing for claiming royalties / TM /CR for future income earned by said company!
well now i haven't seen anyone in trending other than Safia
how about michelle?
Jacqui Schmitt Try guys?
They probably got big jobs outside of youtube
But they weren't trending worldwide and wasn't safiya the first make a video on it?
Long story short... They left for the reasons anybody leaves any job.
Are we all waiting for the fall of Freddie?
Divine Hag yup, only a matter of time..
Divine Hag yes
Divine Hag i can only leave buzzfeed when Eugene leaves
DEFINITELY. freddie and dev and i'm done
Divine Hag Yep. Basically.
Why I left buzzfeed? Because I used buzzfeed to grow a following and didn't need them anymore
most accurate
And that's exactly what you're supposed to do. You will rarely get what you're truly worth working for other people because that's how it works. Never give the company everything. Never give what you can't afford to part with. They're never going to give you everything so reply in kind. Give what what you need to attain your check and acquire the skills and reputation you need take away.
Business in regards to employees is minimum pay for maximum output. Employees in regards to business is maximum pay for minimum output. And this is the perpetual tug of war. Competition or lack thereof is the only thing that will cause it to fluctuate.
They don't use buzzfeed for growth they use buzzfeed for people to find their talent then they leave
and buzzfeed uses the faces of their "onscreen talent" for views so I think its a fair trade-off
wait until the try guys leave,
Just Another Girl most of the original be ladylike women have left though..it's only a matter of time now :/
Natasha Ishwara once they leave then BuzzFeed is gonna drown
:( i mean i don't want them to stay there but once they leave they can't be the try guys anymore, which is bull considering how hard they work, the attention and fans they brought in, and how they made buzzfeed twice as popular.
shit didnt expect to get these many likes
RyuuBear They might just make their own channel if they leave you know
When Eugene leaves them I’m leaving life. edit: it’s okay cause try guys are still going strong
Ice Cream Cookie me too
Well, he left. Along with the other try guys.
He left along with the try guys
Yeah he left and it hUrT
hE lEfT (Sorryyyy)
i totally understand what these people are saying since i've worked on tv production back then and had some segments and we have to go live on a weekly basis...the editing, the shoot, the script, the costumes... it's really hard to "create" something when you're literally doing everything and multitasking and you get burnt out plus your PA's are practically useless because they also have a gig of their own with another show and your boss is just there expecting you to come up with something every meeting when they come in the office in midweek... it's a great experience though if only there's manpower, bigger budget and you really get paid higher for spending so much time in the station... and yes, it gets frustrating when you have all this idealism of how you can use your voice in the given platform and you just can't, which i understand from what they are saying... when you are in the creative field, most people have a mind of their own and would want to produce something of quality and it really slowly kills you inside if you're in a place where it's only the money that matters...like in their case, more hits, more subscription, more e-money... i later then tried moving to a competitor station but didn't work, for some reason, they have this non-verbal cold treatment when you're coming from a competitor station and couldn't figure out that you as a person is not a representation of the other station and it always get to be brought up from time to time which can be annoying... what you don't understand is, when you're in the creative field, you put your thoughts, emotions to even your life in it... it's you brain in material form and you want to take pride in what you do and you would want to use your platform as something substantial... so it most often don't work... the kind of environment that they are in would be best for people who really just want to work for the paycheck and not for passion...
*When you make a book about someone quitting Buzzfeed, and it actually happens so your sad.*
the irony, tho
CutieBagby why would you make a book abt that did you actually make a book abt that is this a joke
Yeah..... True story.
CutieBagby on wattpad?!
CutieBagby I'd love to read it!
I'm not even mad about all these "Why I Left Buzzfeed" videos. All the people who broke up with Buzzfeed should make their own company and just do whatever they want tbh
WhiteRaven696 just like what The Try Guys
TRY GUYSSSS
Why would you be mad at them for leaving a shitty company regardless of what they decide to do?
I love how everyone took melon head vid seriously
buzzthony feedtano
Ikr lol
Jawad Khan ikr XD
I KNOW AHHAHAHA
Buzzthany Feedtano
You don't have to remain unhappy in your situation just because, others are also going through the same thing.
What else do y’all expect them to say?: “Oh Buzzfeed was spectacular, I don’t even know why I left.”.... like... no...
Thank you!
Why'd u put Ashley in the thumbnail?
I was rly sad when I saw the thumbnail
Ashley still works there? I thought she left months ago also..
Amy Smith Exactly!! even though she still work for buzzfeed
Clickbait
IKR ?!
No one knows how to read a contract, that's why they left.
Yea lol i would read it before i sign it
nothing ever happen ?
One word, Centipad
Dane lol
I think they would have read and understood the conditions of the contract but then later decided that it was too shady for them, a contract is a contract but they don’t always have to be fair or bearable.
or maybe buzzfeed is bullshit
The only reason I clicked was cause the title said why I left buzzfeed and had Ashley in the thumbnail I thought she left but no thank goodness 😂
Mary M same dude the day she leaves shit must have really hit the fan
IKR! Bruh she is one of Buzzfeed's best producers.
Mary M If she is the best BuzzFeed writer she must suck at writing
Sameeew
I’m sad to say to y’all, that she really did leave :(
If Andrew left, I left.
At Andrew left, I left.
alright their reasons aren’t perfect but pewdiepie can’t even rag on them because he’s literally doing what everybody else left the company to go do and has made crazy success not working for a company
all the people that left buzzfeed, proceeded to just continue making buzzfeed type videos on their own channel. WTF
not all of them, chris's videos i found were unique (unless he changed, i haven't watched him in a while)
The Dankest Unicorn of all the Land because they are the people who helped build the content
Probably because those types of videos were originally their own ideas that BuzzFeed just took credit for since they work for the company. It's no different than say, Super Mario being Shigeru Miyamoto's own original idea yet whenever Super Mario is mentioned many people usually think of Nintendo the company.
That's not the reason why they left though...
buzzfeed is a disease
All the good people that left buzzfeed should just come together & make their own "buzzfeed" / channel, that way they can totally all grow together, take buzzfeed down since buzzfeed did strict them & get their creative freedom back!
Maria De Leon they'll sue them
the ideas were a part of their job too lol
Almost all of them has their own channel now.. And sometimes they do collab videos together too..
uh that's kind of a shitty idea since they worked for buzzfeed and i would lose respect for them if they just start trashing buzzfeed when they were known for it in the first place..also they made their own decision to work for buzzfeed which is a company
They won't grow on their own because they make shit content for hipsters, just like Buzzfeed. They suck.
When Eugene and Freddie leave I'm out
Destinie Bartley91505 cry babies!!
I’m sure they’re stars and Buzzfeed probably treats them like celebrities
Yes
Destinie Bartley91505 And Ned!!
and ashly
I don't care fo felix's input in this video. If I wanted his input I would watch His video. Thats not what I'm here for, I clicked for the comp, he kinda ruined the video. He doesn't belong here
Plus what he said about Allison (I think that's her name, it's been a while) was rude and childish.
Elizrebezilma Dommdo lmao what? That wasnt even rude
Ya idk why he’s acting all high and mighty. It kinda rubs me the wrong way. If you’ve seen Kirsten and Jens video, you’d know it goes much deeper than “working 9 hours a day”. And the comments he added were just unnecessary and rude.
"why I left buzzfeed" became it's own genre.
chris and michelle's videos were great tbh
melomaniac michelle is smokin hot
melomaniac mhm
Theyre very creative
The thumbnail is misleading... thats lame
Angelica C true
not anymore shes leaving now :(
+LayDeLeadSheepInChina yeah 😩
For guys like you, it's a dumbnail.
Angelica C Ashley has actually left BuzzFeed now
Why do u even use Ashly's photo in the thumbnail? Such a click bait.

I'm sorry but all of their complaints sound like working at an actual job. Legit either suck it up or quit
Sukirina Daisuki they did quit
Milo Finn which is why they are now unemployed just because they couldn't keep their mouths shut
Buzzfeed does have abusive management and you could possibly get sued by Buzzfeed themselves if you do anything that isn't "Buzzfeed" worthy
I mean yeah. Isn't 9 hours pretty basic time to work? My school days in high school were usually 8 hours.
But like if you get tired of something why continue. Just find something else.
So they left the job because they were asked to do their jobs....ugh. these people should try a restaurant
Suzanne Niemeijer
The people at Buzzfeed are required to consistently put out ideas, and at least one of those ideas, each month, is expected to go viral.
Hahaha millenial probs on point

Buzzf is a company. I think teens that get hired them do not realize the implications and objective of a company.
EXACTLY the content that the make buzzfeed owns because they work for them

Claire Poirier Even the try guys are slipping
So basically they use Buzzfeed for exposure and then leave. Smart move.
Ivonne Valle not seeing the possibility of growth in a company is a valid reason to leave. Why would you choose to stay in a dead end jon
Exactly why I said smart move. Do you understand what that means or no?
Ivonne Valle well see when you say use it implies they had the agenda to use buzzfeed and not to stay there. the context made this seem like you were judging them
Oh, I am implying that they had an agenda and yeah, I am judging them. It still doesn't take away from the fact that it was a smart move. You do what you gotta do to get ahead.
used buzzfeed for exposure. like this video? lol
We did this."
All without contributing so much as a single penny.
Their face is on it, and even if it wasnt, its called a contract... read it.. dont agree, dont sign it and dont work there. Millennials, sheesh.
Summer Noybn ew
MLA but pretty much all of them think they do.. 😯
Exactly. Quantity>quality thrre, which is why it is terrible
Valid issues:
-quality over quantity
-not having any rights to your own ideas or content
-not being allowed to have any projects outside of buzzfeed
-disliking your job/ being made miserable by what you're doing
Invalid issues:
*Having to work 8-9 hours a day*
honestly all of them are invalid, if you work out McDonalds they don't let you sell Big Macs on the side.
Businesses do not let you profit as an employee here in America. making a video or cooking a burger for private use ok. taking it public not ok. its called work at will here in America
Also were did I mention minimum wage?
Hypnotunez But the thing about jobs is, you can leave them
dallen33 I posted this comment two months ago, I literally remember jack all about the video and it’s context.
Hypnotunez Ah, i see. Just some lady in the vid was emphasizing we can leave jobs.
Me Mo also they generally are all full of pretentious bull crap from people who say things without filtering or logically thinking out their words before saying it.
When Fred leaves I'm leaving buzzfeed😂😂😁
Livi Nunes who the hell is fred
I think they are referring to Freddie.
Livi Nunes sameeee
ALL THE DAMN ORIGINALS ARE LEAVING BUZZFEED
Multifandoms Xx ikr!
It sounds like a job at any kind of media.... They sound like little kids.
gem xi buzzfeed sounds like little kids... literally
Buzzfeed spy’s all over the comments smh
Go ask a teacher about it and I'm sure you made more than they did.
omg u are TOTALLY right!! we shouldn’t be complaining or demanding the creative fields treat employees better, we should just accept being treated like garbage!! what kind of spoiled brat wants to be treated like a human being anyways??
omg! you had to work 8-9 hours a day and couldn't use your skills for side work? it's almost like you have a real job! you also don't own what you create for the company? how unfair!
😂😂😂😂
Okay! I'm like...that's how companies (and universities) work. They are in for a rude awakening when they see everywhere else is the same.
Which my company is driven by education and skill, you can move up easily.
what do you do for a living, light rivers?
Why I Left Buzzfeed: *because all my favourite people in Buzzfeed left Buzzfeed* 😂😂😂
YouGotNoJams
Your name is amazing!
YouGotNoJams Armyy
I just watch Buzzfeed because of the try guys also most of my favorite people left so 😶
Why didn’t I know so many people left buzzfeed?
Safiya left, I left
There will be no more buzzfeed soon
Welcome to the real world. It's like working for Coke and drinking Pepsi. Grow up people .
1plum lol
Ikr......
true but i think them being entertainers or artists, it's a little different for them.. they love their jobs or feel like they need to love their lives i guess... it's not like most of us who just do a job cause.. i mean we have to survive XD
Fun fact my stepdad worked at coke for a while and if you are seen with a Pepsi product at work you get fired, the more you know.
Not really the case of betrayal things. They didn't actually work for another company. This is kinda abusive but fair enough, this is life. But if they don't like Buzzfeed then it's okay. It's their choice and if they see something wrong with Buzzfeed and decided to leave. It's a normal thing. Everybody is different so you need to grow up.
is it me or does the one guy look like ed sheeran???
Angie Lomax you mean Kenny? (The red head)
Angie Lomax kenny doesn't look like ed sheeran they just have the same hair color also ed is ugly as shit an kenny isn't
Angie Lomax no completely different
Ya BOY Ashton ! ~ OHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Angie Lomax no he just has red hair
y'all get paid for featuring in youtube videos, cry me a river
If it were not for buzzfeed they would not be RUclips famous
Yeah, they made and produced the videos
Being honest if Eugene left BuzzFeed I would be out
@@sunkissed7242 im ahead of you... THEY HAVE THEIR OWN COMPANY
ouch
they need to create a company from all these people who left buzzfeed. and then BAM best company ever
Vkee :) that would be cancerous.
yeah and the company will have nothing because everyone claims their own ideas.
There would be a lot of people in that company lol
And 5-9 .........You're MINE :T
So they are upset cause they thought working at buzzfeed wouldn't be like actually having to work, only to find out that a job is a job...?
That’s why I would first read the contract to see that I would be okay with working for them or not. All the people that left buzzfeed that started their own RUclips career, very few are successful. The ones I would always see is Safiya, Michelle, and now The Try Guys. Starting a RUclips can be tough.
I'm late but um.....
Why I left team 10 more like why I left buzzfeed
Everyone is leaving buzzfeed. It's like everyone gets hired just to leave.
Best buzzfeed quitting/fired people complilaton. Good job (no pun intended... ugh I hate puns). Thank you for doing this!
Thank you so much! :) What should I post next?
Maybe some reaction videos of other buzzfeed related topics?
Why I don't give a shit.
Do you guys know what The Try Guys new channel is? I learned that Eugene and the others apparently have left Buzzfeed to make their own show.
so.. who exactly is still at BuzzFeed?! I'm confused as hell
LUNA Lulu the try guys
Roger thank god. ❤️
The Try Guys... Other than that? A bunch of feminazis making manspreading videos.
The real questions are: Why are these people important? and Why should we care why they left Buzzfeed?
me on every single job I have. This is grown up life people.. Working is really hard.
Yes, so don't hate on people who have the ball balls to strike out on their own.
Sounds like your jealous that they had the guts to leave lmao
I was waiting for this thanks you so much for doing this
Alt title: Top 10 anime betrayals
I hope the try guys won't leave...
Yea, I dont get this either. My first design job had me working 60+ hour per week
At my work I usually have to stay 9am-8pm with one hour to eat from Monday to Thursday, I really don't know what that guy expects from a regular job
"You're not allowed to work on any projects outside Buzzfeed / they own your IP".
Of course. That's standard practice across the globe. Welcome to the media industry,
These employees were given goals, rules to follow, and it was competitive at work. Like that guy in the video said, “What’s the Fucking Problem?”
I don’t recognize any of these people except for Chris Reinacher and I watch a lot of Buzzfeed videos.
8 hours everyday? That's just baby hours in japan working conditions
