    Hi, my first time on your channel. I am going to have to check out your paint recipes to make the skins - they are really quite beautiful. In my experience while I am a big fan of Glossy Accents - I have been using it for years - I would probably recommend resin for long term durability. Have you tried cutting paint skins with a die cutting machine? I have a number of punches, but I was just wondering about using dies. One can also use the cabochons as elements in bead embroidery as well. (I've used polymer clay cabs with beads before, so I am thinking this might be an idea too). As well, I watched a video from Carolyn Dube where she collects leftovers from paint pours on small gel plates (there by making your skin on a gel plate) Just so many crafty thoughts!

    Save your skins, never heard of such a thing. I have so much to learn.

  • @DianeMerriam
    @DianeMerriam Год назад

    I put the glass cab cover over the skin so I can see exactly what looks best through it and then cut around it with an Exacto. Works for more odd shapes like a long rectangle. I do my pours on their own little silicone sheet so they peel easily.
    I hadn't thought to use the shaper for spreading E6000. That's always a problem to spread it out - thanks :)

Are the cabochons you use same circumference as your pop sockets? Thank you for all you do. You are pretty amazing.

  • @aprildegele1510
    @aprildegele1510 Год назад

    I have Yupo, so that's awesome. I've made plenty of skins in my time, but they were always "leftovers" rather than intentionally done. I'll try it!
    Just a question. Why do you feel the need to back the skin? I mean, you're gluing it down to something flat anyway, so why do you need extra strength? Seems it would be easier to manage any potential air bubbles that may get trapped with a thinner rather than a thicker piece. I used to cast eyeballs, and the thinner the colored part, the better for releasing the air bubbles.
    Besides, if you just glue the skin down, you don't need to cover the card or whatever. Saves a step.
