It's almost disgusting how many people in the crowd can be seen getting upset at the idea of working class citizens getting more take home pay. This is going to be one interesting term, to say the least.
I noticed that too. These officials may need a refresher course that America was designed to work together as a family, not as US and THEM.
I think those people disagree with the idea that if they receive more take home pay they’ll spend more. They anticipate that instead of spending more, they’ll save more to acquire wealth which is the exact opposite reason that taxes are reduced. Those that take home more money are better off in the long term, but the economy suffers because there’s less spending, and less tax money available. I’m not well versed in economic history, but from what I understand this trickle-down economics has been tried before and hasn’t worked.
mrdozo23 Finally, a reply I'll respond to. In the past, the idea of Trickle down economics hasn't been too successful, you are right. However, 2018 is a different age. We constantly have new technology to spend money on. In my generation, I know everyone would buy some more clothes, buy a new TV, furniture, etc. Maybe the old folks will start saving to acquire wealth, but my generation knows how to spend.

I agree. The "almost got me" is the reason I responded. People ignore their feelings far too often. I think that they are as important as reasoning and studying. Complementary things in my opinion.
No matter what your political views are, North Korea's dictatorship is pure evil. It's inspiring to see people like him not only make it out but continue on helping others in his old position.

I've taken acid tabs maybe 25/30 times and always had real interesting nights. Had a few "trips" that went a bit haywire but things always turn out right in the end ...depends on the circumstances and the dosage, same with mushrooms. Obviously dangerous if you take 'em on the roof of a ten/twenty storey apartment block, but only a fool would do that. As the late great comedian Bill Hicks once said..."If you think you can fly, take off from the ground..test it out, you don't see ducks lined up at elevators ready to fly south".

This is exactly the type of leadership Canada needs. A true patriot whos every policy has been to benefit America first. Instead we've got a ski board instructor who can't even go through a speech without sounding like a fool. The age of political correctness has run amok and is destroying our country.
We need accomplished intellectuals in office. We haven't had that in many many years. Watching this reminds me of how juvenile and petty the 2 party system has become. How many of these people have compromised their true beliefs just to continue in their political careers? How many of these politicians say ,"And god bless America" even though they have long since believed that to be true? Will we ever have another Thomas Jefferson? Doubtful considering the political system is filled with people most of us would never consider as friends. We must find a way to end this toxic group thought and identity politics.

One of the best SOTU's i have ever heard. Very uplifting and motivational despite all the children with frowny faces, crossed arms, playing on their phones and not clapping or standing - even for the special honored heros and their stories...We the people need to ensure we help drain the swamp and stand for what we beleive in. Unity will come with greatness, too many have become brainwashed and pacified. We are strong and proud, hopefully we will all remember how much very soon. This man was needed for most of us, 2020 if he decides to run again, i will do my part to continue to MAGA.

I want to see such a democratic, organized, people-oriented, and motivational parliamentary system in my country, Pakistan.
I have enjoyed such speeches, including those of the ex-president Mr Barack Obama. I want to add that, so far, all U.S. Presidents are excellent and intelligent orators. I want to see such a type of leadership in Pakistan. After all, it takes a single person to make history of any nation.

I am from Poland and trying to understand some of your politics. It seems like half the room doesn't like good news. I looked up a few of Trump's claims and as close as I can tell, he was right. For example, black unemployment is at a 45 year low . 6.8% for the month of December 2017 which it appears is the last month the U.S. Department of Labor had data for. That is lower than black unemployment rate since at least 1972. Wouldn't that be a good thing? Why does only half of your parliament applaud that? I don't get it.
