The Choice: Violence or Poverty?

Each year in Australia thousands of women experiencing domestic violence are forced to choose between:
staying in the violent relationship or;
facing the very high chance she and her children will live in ‘policy-induced poverty’ if she leaves.
Most women choose to stay.
Anne presented confronting and previously unpublished data that reveals the shocking extent of violence experienced by women and the economic, financial, health and other consequences of their choosing to leave.
