Imagine somebody modified a inside out pcvr headset to have base stations inside it? That be cool because you could use knuckle controllers without drilling base stations into a wall
Yes, it can do SteamVR but it needs WMR running to be able to access SteamVR. I have a G2v2 and love it, also using it with Valve knuckles since the G2 controllers are pathetic at best. Agreed, Microsoft is ending support for WMR, but they don't say if the current WMR (portal) software will remain available or they will take it all down. If they take it down, then hopefully the Dev community can hack together a software driver to keep these headsets running with SteamVR. There are a LOT of these HMDs out there, it would be a shame to see them all become paper weights.
No way to use it if WMR is completely phased out. No way to develop 3d party software because of needed windows stuff that is inaccessible. It will become paper weight, sadly.
@@Shadow__133 There's already an open source app in the works called monado that already at this point bypasses WMR altogether :) I believe it's only for linux atm (a windows verion is in the works) What's cool is that it also gives hand and finger tracking to the Reverb G2. So there's a a light at the end of the tunnel. Plus, the WMR runtime slows it down considerably and was never good to begin with anyway.
Please do not buy this headset in 2024. You can run SteamVR with it but it still relies on WMR Portal and the driver. WMR is already made incompatible with Windows 11 24H2. It will be made removed from the microsoft store in November 2025.
Underrated. I just subbed (remember me when u get famous)
Good video bro.
I love my G2
My g2 just doesn't turn on at all without WMR running in the background.
the steam vr thing is a option you have to enable or something you have to configure yourself
Doesn't SteamVR have controller emulation?
I'm not sure it's built in
He sounds just like Ralph the Movie Maker.

could be possible but would add a lot of weight to the headset and the tracking would most likely suck.
From the software to the controllers, the HP reverb G2 would be 10x better if it didn't have any 'windows mixed reality' bulls***.

I believe through open xr you can use the headset through only steam vr
