Very mental approach to something much more transparent. Everyone is a ghost and doesn't even know it. That's the great emptiness of everything. Once it is seen, the ghost in you can repeat its usual patterns and be seen for just that. The ghost is then naturally allowed to be as it is, without a new for change, it is therefore saved. The teacher puts to much emphasis on human beings, reinforcing the notion of self which is the opposite of such koan's objective...
playing dress-up. look at me, I'm a Zen master... see, I have a robe and a doohickey on my apron, and everything. Chan came to japan and became Zen, but the japanese masters didn't wear Chinese clothes. Dhyana come from india and became chan but the Chinese masters didn't put on Indian clothes. what are they thinking ? what, are they thinking ? what are they , thinking? Just this. A finger pointing at the moon.
I prefer the latter version: the Spirit of the ghost is balanced with the opposite understanding which is zen balanced, then the pupil challenges the Spirit on the Ghost by saying now save the Ghost because their is the understanding of the Ghost and the balance between them..?
he says im going to tell you and why. ba ha. a dead twig gets a live flower. he says i am . you shouldnt. dumb words should would could. he or she who uses these words should could would needs

Shortest koan, longest explanation
The Sound of One Hand is NOT a translation of a book by Sogaku Harada Roshi.
The sound of 1 hand clapping was created by the renowned Japanese Zen Master Hakuin!
Thank you.
thanks for sharing.
Reality as I perceive it, is always a personal delusion - so in reality as it is, we are always one with our delusions.
Even this perception or thought must then be another delusion. Your move :)

If you had any idea about the history of Chan and Zen, you'd be embarrassed by the ignorance of your comment.
@@ZenAndPsychedelicHealingCenter of what am I ignorant specifically?
Great❤
What is MU-GA though?

Knowing the language of the original kōan would be useful, assuming the relevant verse wasn't composed in English.
Not really.
the 101 origanal koans can be studied.
let your ghosts leave and say all ghosts are free. ghosts are non exisctant. they only exist in mind. you are neither your mind nor your body.
What is even a bigger help for zen students, is to know that koans are not that effective in generating insight.
@@goggles0_0 Whoa there, sunshine.
There is nothing that needs to be generated.
Cool story bro.
My teacher says - The Shobogenzo is a terrible book because it explains things clearly about the koans to give away its great show!
Your teacher seems to have no idea what the Shobogenzo is.
Lol WTF my last name koan and I ain't heard of this shit

Yikes!
