It might be because I’ve been off social media, but this new “skinny” look genuinely makes me uncomfortable. These women look unwell, and it’s saddening to see the extremes people go to in order to conform to beauty standards set by those who don’t even meet them. When will we, as a society, start valuing individualized beauty?
Everyone is chasing sameness, often in ways that don’t even enhance their natural beauty. I’m not trying to be judgmental-I understand the weight of insecurities-but when your insecurity becomes your entire identity, it’s a red flag. It’s like we’ve lost sight of the line between self-improvement and self-erasure, mutating our bodies to push products or status symbols that only emphasize exclusion.
True confidence isn’t found in altering your appearance every four months to keep up with trends. Confident women show up as themselves, knowing they’re enough. This obsession with looking intentionally sickly is far from normal-it’s alarming. We’ve lost our collective minds if this is what we’re accepting as beauty.
