My father was the same way, but as she said, "you have to take risks". I'm still in the learning phase that she mentioned, but I have every intention of doing the same as her. Just taking a different approach to it since I'm not a business major. lol
Not mine. My dad loved his job - worked for AT&T for 45 years and enjoyed a nice retirement and pension. He kept wanting me to work for them too but didn't realize how that world doesn't exist anymore and how little pensions work for us these days. It will be even a more distant memory by the time most of you reach my age (I'm 61). Dad didn't understand why I wanted to create a business instead of working for someone else, but thankfully saw me successful before he passed. Mom was a homemaker, never worked, and Dad was able to take care of her until the day she died.
I had a professor that said they teach textbook theory not practical application. He was the best teacher I ever had. I also learned more from him than any other teacher I had.
I was an exec admin .... and all the new MBAs had NO idea to really run their departments ---- their degree was far beyond being impractical - and they pay the tuition off forever. Waste of their money
@@donkeywhistler So godamn true. I've met so many brilliant people without credentials that just get overlooked. In the end, these credentials are very expensive entry tickets.
I did a lot of online courses as a grad school equivalent and was able to compound so much faster than just relying on guided undergrad classes. It did so much for my personal brand and knowledge. Really learned a lot.

Codie you are so inspiring!!! As a first generation college grad and someone who’s worked in corporate world (and drowned in it) I’m ready to start making some changes to become an investor. I was considering getting into more debt with an MBA but because of your videos I’m now looking to open two small businesses and learn the hard not way and earn at the same time :) Please keep making content!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Codie I've been watching your stuff for a while now and love all your channels and the new one Big Deals! I know you were asking for feedback/suggestions on the premier of it, on this video it seems like a voice over at 42:36 min that is clearly visible and messes with me. Just some feedback, but the message overall is kickass and inspirational! Thanks for all you do.
There is also a fact that no matter how old or young you are, some people are just oblivious of the opportunities and possible outcomes in life, someones grandma was a pilot and nowdays some people are still afraid to fly in plane. 😂
I’ve always known I wanted to do and be something big but I always questioned what happens than we do get filthy rich ? And this part in the vid 39:12- 40:27 💯🔥

I love this concept of shepherds of people. When I was going through trying to play in the NFL, I asked a scout what the most important question on all of the forms they made us fill out was. He replied "Who else should we be recruiting that you played with or against, and why?" Always be looking to collect people that are better at things than you are is something I try to do as often as possible, and doing so has increased the impact that I can have.
Great insights on wealth creation! A quick tip for entrepreneurs looking to invest: always diversify your portfolio to manage risk effectively. Consider not just traditional stocks or real estate, but also look into newer areas like digital assets or niche markets that align with your expertise.
An MBA isn't the only path to success, but it's a valuable tool to have in your arsenal. While some may debate its usefulness, many companies won’t hire you without it. I believe everyone should endeavor to start a business, but we shouldn't overlook the skills gained from working in a professional setting, especially in prestigious companies like Goldman Sachs. These experiences can be invaluable in shaping one's understanding of the industry and honing essential skills.
MBA is only good if you want to stay in the indoctrination system and become an employee. Therefore, an MBA is not a path to real & true success. An MBA is a money maker for colleges & universities.
I think an MBA and college in general exposes you to ideas. And like you said, if you get arrogant about what you think you know then you are looking at it wrong. If while your getting real world experience you come across areas that you have been exposed too it can help you to know some of the book knowledge. I run my own business and learned more in 1 year than I did in all 6 years of formal education....but! I also mixed in some things I learned in school that has helped me get through further faster.
...but some parents also "protect" their children, because they don't want them to succeed. It's true. Some parents will create such a negative, fearful environment for their children, because they want to control and manipulate their children so that they don't become greater than the parent.
I like Codie Sanchez but she speaks from a position of privilege. Kids if your family is in any way socioeconomically disadvantaged, value college education it’s how you make it out. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you’re predisposed to the same opportunities that the rich have.
Hey Codie, love your content !!! Question : When you say that you give your operators “skin in the game” with equity… are you actually giving this to to them (good will), or are you giving them the opportunity to buy-in for their portion of the equity ?
I had a conversation recently with a guy with an MBA. My income is more than 10 times his. His problem: complex thinking, too analytical, always plays it safe, indecisive. That's what business schools teach. F that.
As always, Codie makes great points and I always agree with everything she says. My takeaway from this video is "If you stopped learning at your current job, you should be looking for another where you learn new things." Funny that I hear this, as I am currently taking a few courses to prepare myself to look for a new job due to this same reason.
A lot of things about universities are fake. I took a personal training course at a university and the teacher had a PhD in exercise physiology but he knew absolutely nothing about actually working out. It was pretty overweight. He said that bodybuilders say if they do cardio that they lose muscle but he doesn't think that's true he thinks it would take a lot of starvation to lose muscle. And I told him I know from experience after bodybuilding and then doing cardio I will lose muscle. After a couple of good Sprints and he asked what a couple of good Sprints are. I said I'll run down the street as fast as I can until I'm out of breath. And he said no! And he was trying to say that people are overweight because they need to park farther from the building so if they park farther from the building and walk then they won't be so overweight. And I think that's bull crap no one ever lost weight by parking further from the building. If anything it's better to park closer to the building so you have more time to do other things and get to the gym and work out
I had one class and capstone left to complete my MBA. I dropped out. I felt as though I had learned nothing new, and that all of my classmates were getting an MBA ro get a job and work for someone else. I already have another Master’s degree. I may finish it just to finish it….but it was a waste of money for me personally.
Kids in school are conditioned with few choices. Few courses. No wonder they think there are few choices. They are put in a comfort zone at a young age. Most kids I talk to don't like school. They like the play and social side. Kids turn into employees.
