As somebody who grew up between Cala D’Or and Italy I’d like to say….about pickpocketing: in summer is only tourist on the beach. Locals are either working or relaxing by their own pool. Is a bit unfair to say “due to the local climat there is a risk” as it makes Spanish people look bad. There is also history in Cala D’Or! It was an utopia town founded in the 30s by an Ibizan architect to create a little Ibiza…that’s why its buildings don’t look like other towns in Mallorca :) looking around the center you will find those 30s buildings with very interesting and original features. When it is raining…go to font Santa spa near ses salines…the only spa water in the island! I hope this helps and gives the insight on an half local 🌟
Hello - sorry for taking so long to reply to your comment! But thanks for the feedback. I certainly didn’t mean that locals would be pickpocketing - just referred to pickpocketing in general by anyone. I would love to know more about the history of Cala d’Or tho. Are you currently living on the island? If you are please get in touch on my email alex@mallorcaunderthesun.com - I would love to make a video about this as I have so many people who absolutely love Cala d’Or watching the channel so maybe would be interested to find out more ! And from your perspective too which I think would be quite unique . Cheers Alex
What a lovely surprise coming home from shopping to find this video Alex. I can’t get over the colour of the sea. And also how nice the weather looks. Very very enjoyable video

Hello alex lovely video as per! Wev been coming to cala dor for years now and a great tip is if your eating out at night and know where ur going! Go and book that restaurant in the afternoon! Last year we done it and what a relief and watched the queues 20 to 30 deep somenights horrendous!!!
That is a very good tip, thanks for this Martin and something I will remind visitors of as we enter the season. I think it's going to be a busy year, so reservations are going to be essential!
Visited this area about 8 year's ago and I do remember having a good holiday. The big plus was the abundance of place's to eat and drink but the negative was the beaches. As you pointed out they really did get busy so I stayed mostly around the pool. I remember the resort felt safe and family friendly. Definitely worth visiting.
Brilliant video thanks; we're heading there 24th Aug for 5nights. A very well deserved short break & really looking forward to it! I've not been to Majorca since 1987 😂
It’s been 5 years since I’ve been to Cala D’or. These views have bought up so many lovely memories. We first came here when my daughter was 6months and came every year, she is now 24! We love the area, we stayed In Cala Egos at Parque Mar which I highly recommend. We took walks down to the Mariana into town and sometimes got the ‘happy train’ as we called it 😂 when it was to hot to walk. It obviously does get busy in summer months, that’s to be expected. Thanks for the video Alex, I think five years has been to long to be away. We’ve been going to Palma Nova Son Matias the last couple of years, I can see a trip back Cala D’or on the cards again. 😊
Hi Alex nice see your lovely smile I visited cala dor June 2018 And had an amazing week also found some amazing resturants ill be in alcudia the end of April happy times thanks for the video xx

Hi Alex, we have stayed in Cala D'or six times in the last eight years. Cala Ferrera is our preferred destination. If you are not a fan of the beach and like staying around the pool in all inclusive then I can recommend Mar Sense Cala Ferrera. I was also in Pollenca last year (cycling - great fun in the Tramuntana mountains), and really like Cala Sant Vicenc. I love coming to the island as it is a short flight and have been probably 20 times over the years, to play golf @ Llucmajor (Son Antem), to cycle and for family holidays. Keep up the good work sharing your knowledge of the island
There are no worst bits of Cala D’or. I nearly bumped into you beginning of Aug last year in front of Tolo’s. It is a fab beachfront cafe even though Tolo has now retired. I have been coming to Cala D’or since 1967
Hi Liz! Oh shame I didn't meet you! I've love to talk to you about visiting Cala d'Or across the years and hear how it has changed and why you come back. Maybe this year if we collide!
Thanks Alex. We found Cala D’Or to be beautiful and classy. But as seniors we found walking around on foot between the “Calas” isn’t an easy flat walk like Puerto Pollensa or Cala Bona…it’s very much all up and down…..and quite steep inclines!
Exactly. I personally don't find this resort as accessible as some of the other resorts which you mention with the lovely flat promenades. Even when we stayed here in 2021, it was wayyy too hot to walk around the calas.
Cala D'or is a stunning resort. I'll always go there. I definitely wouldn't want to go during school holidays though as the beaches are packed solid. We go May or September. My personal favourite beach is cala Ferrera which is nearly as big as cala gran but a bit less busy.
Brilliant video Alex and I ask you silly questions all the time but if you had a family of young kids or teenage and even older couole with no kids where would you recommend in each category cheers🤣👍💯
In terms of resorts? I have some info coming out very soon about this !! (Ps no such thing as a silly question - booking a holiday is an investment - it’s a decision you can’t take lightly !

Cala d'Or looks beautiful, great video! My partner and I are looking to visit for 5 nights end of April/start of May and have narrowed it down to either Cala d'Or or Palma Nova. Any preference? Both late 20s, we like some music and nightlife in the evenings, but nothing wild.
We were thinking of taking a big family holiday here next year at the end of May/ beginning of June. Ages from 17 to 84! Will the weather be good and will bars and nightlife be open? Anyone? Thanks in advance ❤

Where is Cala Petita in relation to Rocamarina Hotel. It looks a lovely little cove. 👏❤️🐸
Hello - Just off Cala d'Or centre, and about a 20-30 minute walk .
Heading 1st week in September, what's the vibe generally like and the weather ❤
Cala d'Or looks beautiful, great video!

Both late 20s, we like some music and nightlife in the evenings, but nothing wild.
Have a look at the videos and Palmanova live streams. Depends on location too and where you want to be.
From my experience, I would recommend Cala D'or over Palma Nova.
I'm going Cala dor on 27th April, going off the current temperatures, can I expect 25 + degrees?? Or still low 20's
Anything could happen by the end of April. I would say keep an eye on the weather forecast. Should really be low 20s.
