It's refreshing, you would never find something like this on network TV. It would be nothing but manufactured drama followed by unnecessary recaps of things that happened before one of the 12 commercial breaks, then more drama.
Somewhere in this long list of comments, someone probably told you that when you wring the tail off the lobster, you can break off an antennae and stick it up the lobsters poop shoot ,backwards and when you pull it back out it will bring its poop line back out with it. That way your not freezing or cooking the lobster with the yuck left inside it ! Besides that it sure looked great !!
I found you channel recently and have binged on it. A dreamer who never pulled the trigger you inspired me. Going to stop dreaming. Selling the house and toys and going to live it. Not sailing but will travel see the world, take my time find myself. Thank you for that. I am sure you have inspired many.
The solidity of the salt in the ocean cooks shellfish perfectly, when you add salt to fresh water it's either not enough or TOO much. Fresh water also makes it harder for the meat to come off the shell, it tends to want to stick to it ESPECIALLY crab meat. So best thing to use when boiling any shellfish is the water you got it from IF YOU CAN. Makes heaps of a difference.
Completely unrelated to anything in this video, but I just learned of an emergency supply you should have if you don't already. It's called splash-zone epoxy that sets up under water. Another video I was watching(beau and brandy #82) had a 2 foot long crack open up on the bow under the waterline. Boat was starting to sink and the 2 people on board sent out a mayday call. A fishing boat 5 miles away came over and passed them some of that epoxy. Completely stopped the leak. Still babied it 67 miles to harbor in rough waves. Seems like a good self rescue item and cheap insurance.

Thank you very much for uploading these videos. Now that im in the hospital, this is what makes my day👍 Thank you very much again, and please continue making this content
The main reason for using salt water is because it’s already salted. There’s no need for adding more, it’s already seasoned. Fresh water makes the seafood bland (makes it ruined). Love y’all and your show. Never miss an episode.
This is amazing at how much it takes to provision for your next Sailing! Your "New" Dingy is quite impressive Keith. Renee, You must be a magician to make ALL of those provisions to disappear on your Catamaran! Kate it looked as tho your hands were a little bit full there at the end! Lol. 👍👍👍👍👍❣️🙏🎣⛵
Its not magic, DG, the magic is when she hides it and is still there when she needs it. Keith and coke, kids and chips - never gunna last long. lol Your right though all that food.
Thank you guys for all of the great videos you make it's been a pleasure to watch you and your beautiful family on your many adventures. I'm 46, an Electrician, my wife is a Paramedic we are the same age and have 6 grown children between us, and we both LOVE LOVE LOVE the ocean, going to the beach and the overall "Salt Life". I think we share some commonalities which is why I enjoy your videos so much I think. I have always loved boating, and have wanted to go sailing but just have not done so as of yet. My wife and I are considering chartering a sailing boat for maybe a day trip, much as you guys explained that you did in one of the earlier videos. I'm not sure if I truly love sailing or love the idea of it, and I think the only way to know is to get on someone's sailboat and give it a try and see if it's something we would enjoy as much as I perceive that I might. My wife is originally from Virginia and grew up on the beaches of the Chesapeake Bay near Newport News Virginia, and me being from Louisiana, I have spent many many days on the water, both fresh and saltwater and have always loved boating and just being on the water and once I got a taste of the Salt Life, I was hooked (pun intended). So anyway, you guys have been very inspirational, answering the many questions someone like me and my wife might have about Sailing and living on a boat, etc. I almost feel through watching the videos I have come to know each of you, and it warms my heart to see your family so content and happy and you guys doing what makes you happy and being able to do all of that as a family is just amazing. I know you guys get a lot of comments, and email and you may not even see this one, but I just felt after all this time I should let you know how inspiring all of your efforts have been to me and my family and likely others who also enjoy this kind of thing. God Bless you all, and I wish you nothing but the best, stay safe out there, and we look forward to seeing many new videos in the future!
Hello from Spain! I have a recommendation for Keith and his lobster cooking technique, you should try barbequing the lobsters, cut the in half like Keith did in minute 14:05 (leave the shell) and the put them in the barbecue, really good you should try it sometime. Love you channel inspired me to sail around the wolrd when I get a chance!
We cut cut the tail with an incision on the shell and the flesh, and then you can put lemon butter sauce in them, wrap them in foil, then barbecue them. After that we have them with garlic bread.
Kate is honestly growing up and becoming such a beautiful young woman! You’re family is so amazing and full of so much love & care ! I’m so glad that you choose to share you’re journey with us here 🥰
I love to watch your vlogs I just came across your channel recently! It was so cozy to see how you guys stock up for off grid. It gives a secure feeling for some reason, must be nice to isolate on a boat going wherever you want to go.
I enjoy watching provisioning video’s. Do you plan daily meals for the month/ timeline and then buy accordingly? Have you thought food saver vacuum sealer?
Hello Zatara! I wanted to say that your journey is so inspirational and now I want to sail the world! I have now successfully binge watched your channel and have seen every episode. Love you guys ❤️ ⛵
Thanks so much for your channel. I'm so disappointed for you that you haven't seen the best of New Zealand, especially our great diving at the Poor Knights Islands. I'm sure you would love the rays there! Please come back one day in the summer! Happy sailing!
Love your videos and your family. My little cat of 5 yrs slipped out of the house Monday night and hasn’t been back.weve done everything we can to find her. We worried and heart broken. Thank you for brightening my day ,I found myself with a smile on my face amid a sad time. Have fun be safe enjoy!!

And more than that, I developed a sudden obsession with and starstruck love of sailing. - Since then I've watched somewhere around 85% of all of your videos, and it has sparked that feeling of a real dream to look forward to and aim towards in my future, inspiring in me that something special that drives you to take action and plan and center one's self around a goal. Keith, since you are going to cut the lobster into little chunks anyway, sauté the lobster raw, without boiling. The flavor and texture will be much better! Place them on a sheet pan, with a little butter and seasoned salt, and broil (or bake at a pretty high temp) for a few minutes, until the opacity leaves, and the meat gets firm and turns white. This will render the fat, and the meat will absorb it, rather than boiling away. (Remember, fat is flavor!) Now chunk up the meat and sauté as usual. This will be much easier, and I think you will be even more amazed at the taste and texture! I prefer to sauté it from the raw state, as all the fat melts into the sauce!

Totally agree with the salt water cooking technique mentioned at 13:15. Seafood should always be cooked it saltwater!!! ( we have summer house in Maine, we always boil our Lobster in sea water and throw in a little seaweed for good measure.) Also wanted to let y’all know I love watching your vlogs... 1) question did I notice a Wilson in one of your videos?????
That concoction with the butter and the garlic would be really good as a spread. Instead of boiling the lobsters, slice them in half, take the poop line out, slather them in the garlic butter and grill them. Boiling makes lobster rubbery, but grilling them with butter will give you melt in your mouth lobster meat. I love this channel btw.
I think I could smell that lobster dinner through the screen. Dang that looked soooo GOOD! Awesome update as usual, heck of a lot of work on the provisioning!
I just sent a express post parcel (A4 paper size package) from Canada to NZ on April 4th and it arrived in NZ to start processing on may 29th. It took so long... unless things are speeding up with deliveries since NZ is level 2 now, i don't think its worth waiting if you want to head away soon. All the best guys!
The reason you cook seafood with sea water is cause the salt water keeps it sweet and sea taste if you understand and fresh water just absorbs all the flavour of the sea taste x love the vids x
I could quarantine with lobster tails for a long time. A meal fit for a King! Keith, I am proud of you. Most people use a couple of garlic cloves. You use garlic like I do. 20-30 cloves. Oh yeah!
Catamarans are much more weight sensitive than monohulls, so, yes. Even on a heavy cruising cat like this, they will see a difference in the way it sails after they've added 1,000lbs of provisions. It might not be much of a difference, but they will notice it. On a monohull of similar size, it probably wouldn't make enough difference to notice unless you stored all that stuff up high.
What a great, learning adventure for a family. Bravo! Happy Birthday, Kate. You folks should be checking out Kate's alto singing voice. Bet she could be a star. Fair winds and following seas!
Some people just don't want a camera in their face when going about their day. They don't know if they're just a nice family, or some foreigners being a pain in the ass.
You can get the "poop trail" out of crayfish or lobster by twisting and pulling out/off the middle fin on the tail when it is fresh (not cooked and hasn't been frozen). Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Never thought id find myself watching a family sail across the world on youtube but your family sure makes it entertaining

What a great, learning adventure for a family. Bravo! Happy Birthday, Kate. You folks should be checking out Kate's alto singing voice. Bet she could be a star. Fair winds and following seas!
