Thanks very much! Chris & I've put a lot of thought into what Kenshi should sound like & how it should all work in-game, so I'm happy you've enjoyed these demos :)
Well there will definitely be different music throughout your experience playing Kenshi, but only because it's been randomly selected. The system won't react to anything in-game besides moving to new Biomes & the Day/Night cycle. We don't want to impose specific emotions on certain game events. As mentioned in a response... some people get sad at dead soldiers & others think "Loot!"
Hope you may one day see this but i wish to say this music is wonderful and the end product has been some of the most evocative and beautifully haunting music I've ever listened to great job no two was about it
Some awesome stuff mate! Really does induce a feeling of loneliness and emptiness with a glimmer of hope into the game which works really well. I will be doing more Kenshi videos in the next couple of weeks to see how its developed so far, I've missed playing! If you need any help or assistance with anything please drop me a message by the way, although it seems you have everything covered :)
Hi Kole! I'm a composer with some back experience but new to video game soundtracks, I've worked on one project so far and now learning Wwise. When I saw Kenshi some time ago it was developed by a single person, now I wanted to see if it already has a composer and found your videos. I just wanted to say that looking at the concept of the game I had almost the very same idea you are using here - and I wanted to tell you that you're implementation sounds really great! It seems to me that this kind of music suits this epic game very well and with a sound like this I believe it is moving closer to atmospheric cult classics like Fallout. Sounds and looks very promising, when it's all finished - I'm sure it would be awesome! And I must add that menu music is very well produced and has a soul to it!
Thanks for kind words! Glad to hear that you had a similar idea about what kind of music system would work well with the game. It's always nice to have your instincts affirmed by another composer.
What really fascinates me about this is that you've managed to thematically capture the entire Diablo and Diablo II soundtrack collectively using dynamic music instead of fixed tracks. It's got a devilish undertone with a sense of desperation and heroism to it.
Glad to hear something else in Kenshi that *silence* The music is quite good. One of best I heard in video game. Just lets see how it works out in final game.
Sure! I didn't do any scripting & am not implementing everything directly into Ogre (talented programmers are taking care of that), but am using something called Wwise to help design the music/sound systems.
will there be diferent music for each kind of shop ingame, city enviroment or during battles? im thinking about some sad music when you pass some dead bodies from a battle that happened before, that would be realy cool to see how sad that could be seeing the lost soldiers on the ground =/
i see....well that "sad" felling that i mentioned its about the lore and felling of the game, not our personal experience and that kind of stuff. but since its that kind of system, i think chris should put some unique events like caves, bandit lairs and other stuff... the lore of the game should benefit from it and still i could get my "sad music" xD
Hey Mr.Hicks. Can you get us some kind of program were we hit a button and get a random 3 layers of the sort you have set up for kenshi. Sort of a kenshi music go button?
Holy fuck I went looking for some of the great music I have been hearing in Kenshi and I found out its all randomly compiled! crazy
Thanks very much! Chris & I've put a lot of thought into what Kenshi should sound like & how it should all work in-game, so I'm happy you've enjoyed these demos :)
Hi Kole, as a Composer i just wanted to say.. u are doing a Good Job. and i love this game :)

Thank you, glad to hear you're enjoying the demos. Hope it makes your experience with the game even better!
This is seriously amazing. Great job on it!
And this is where it kicked off.
Hope you may one day see this but i wish to say this music is wonderful and the end product has been some of the most evocative and beautifully haunting music I've ever listened to great job no two was about it
Great that you heard that; a sense of beautiful loneliness (with a bit of hope) was the overall tone we were going for. Thanks :)
Mr. Hicks. You and your squad has done well. May your music audio solutions remain strong, and your beard robust.

This is phenomenal stuff Kole, keep it up!
I look forward to hearing this in-game. Well done!
Just great work!
I love the part with the koto and Cello. Its so deep and i will really enjoy this in the game.

Played the game and enjoyed the music a lot - the main title (final mix on soundcloud) is my favorite - just beautiful. :)
I'm really looking foward to new updates.
My thoughts exactly. I'm getting the chills listening to this, so good!
Thanks Brian! Yes I'll continue to add more SFX & Music after this initial audio update :)
Sounds great. Can't wait for these to be implemented to the actual game :)
I see myself playing many hours of Kenshi to experience the music.
We'll be stepping into the studio to record Shamisen in the future, although it may not be featured in either of the 2 Biomes shown in the video.

Thanks! Yes besides the Koto we'll feature some other traditional Japanese instruments in the music score :)
Wow, amazing job!
Easily one of the best game soundtracks I've heard, enjoying it :)
Thanks! haha, yes the Beard is getting quite robust at this point; I'll have to share a picture with a future update!
That Nylon Guitar! I've gotta have an mp3 if just the nylon guitar playing.
Glad to hear something else in Kenshi that *silence* The music is quite good. One of best I heard in video game. Just lets see how it works out in final game.
Good Job!
Thanks much, Drew :)

awesome
Great job sounds awesome! in future updates after sound actually comes out will you be adding to it?
Haha yup, that you did. Thanks! :)
I would like to see some influence from Yoshida Brothers in the music as well. I think it could fit well.
haha smell-o-vision. Ya we'll definitely be adding a bit more Ambiance to the world over time :)
It is good to see some electric guitar... But it needs more pie.
will there be diferent music for each kind of shop ingame, city enviroment or during battles? im thinking about some sad music when you pass some dead bodies from a battle that happened before, that would be realy cool to see how sad that could be seeing the lost soldiers on the ground =/
Finding bodies just means more loot :D

Are there going to be a new music (like new instruments, melody, etc)
Yes! There will be new music for each Biome & the map of Biomes is being worked on at the moment.
