What an EXCELLENT, INFORMATIVE video. I have never seen an engraver in my life and I decided to buy one to use to customize certain woodworking projects. I WAS so INTIMIDATED of the laser that I opened the box and then realized that I don’t have a clue how to use it. I then go online to watch and learn from those who have an engraver but it turns out that I can not learn the way others were TRYING to teach and became even more frustrated. UNTIL I found this video . I am not intimidated any longer, but am now more confident that this will be an asset instead of a pain in the ass . Ty so very much 👍😀
When trying to center designs on projects there is a button on the bottom row of buttons in laser grbl that with move your laser to the center of the design. If you press the "center" button and then focus it will shine the laser on the center of the where the design will be and you can align your work piece accordingly.
Very helpful Thankyou so much, I have seen people print the grid on your base board with the laser if that is helpful, thank you for the video, great work and very useful!!
After checking your art and material measurements, using laserGRBL- press your CENTER button, to move head to center of art. Center your material (or laser head) to that point. Click the 'Blink' button to flash the laser, to align further. Frame to confirm all fits. FYI.. when moving the laser head by hand(manually), move it slow, as the stepper motors will generate electricity, and could short your module or motherboard!
Oh how I wish I would have found this when I bought mine! Thank you a million times a million! These are exactly the tips I've been searching for, you are a life saver! And I appreciate a believer also! I definitely subscribed!! And liked!
@@DIYOnTheHouse I agree with this poster.I was so discouraged when I got mine, I just had to walk away for a while. Finding you was a huge blessing . many many thanks!! 😊
Soap idea came from making garments etc... The button came from Hobby Lobby. Have fun with the laser, check out the newer videos we made in November. We made a bunch of Christmas gifts with the laser that came out nice.
I am not in the business but keep thinking of it to get one, so I do search and learn the business on youtube. I am so glad I found your helpful video. Appreciate that and wish you a successful business. Cheers :)
another thing, maybe you figured this one out by now. in Target image , M3 Constant power is for cutting, M4 dynamic power is better for engraving. I love Laser Grbl . thanks for the great video 👍👍
Hello thank you this video was very beneficial, it helped me alot . Also I wanted to know settings for lasering on metal/aluminium vacuum bottles ? Please
Great video. Maybe you should try with center point, doing project from center. You find it Target image - Ofset (below size settings) - icon on the right. Keep up the good stuff.
I always manually move the laser to the lower left corner of my design, focus it, and tell it to frame. Then I adjust my project to meet the laser. That is the best way I have figured out how to do it.
It depends if your machine has strong enough watts. I am testing a new 10W machine, and it engraved wonderfully on stainless steel, I haven't tried aluminum yet.
I need help! I am new to laser engraving. I bought an AtomStack pro laser and I am overwhelmed! The grbl software is complicated. I just need step by step instructions. Do you have any suggestions?
I just watched another video can’t remember her name already. She said the reason it does tht is bcuz the laser needs to be positioned from home at 0 top left corner. She said do not start with it positioned anywhere on the project because wherever you turn it on it will recognize as 0 or home thts why u keep moving the project because it’s off and is recognizing the wrong starting point as home.I hope tht makes sense! Lol
Yes, that totally makes sense as to why!! I have found focusing on the lower left, framing it to double check, and then testing by hitting center, gives me the best placement. Thanks for the reply - I didn't know why it recognized it as 0. Thanks!
The company put it very nice, but they pretty much force to buy their software to print and customize anything, otherwise can not use to customize anything.

@Nicholas Murja Is the frame/stand unlevel or the laser unit?

No - I haven't figured that out! What wood do you use for cutting? Solid wood or plywood?
Hello thank you this video was very beneficial, it helped me alot .
Also I wanted to know settings for lasering on metal/aluminium vacuum bottles ? Please
On LaserGrbl software it has a Stainless Steel setting which is 100% power - I didn't make any adjustments to their settings.
Great video. Maybe you should try with center point, doing project from center. You find it Target image - Ofset (below size settings) - icon on the right. Keep up the good stuff.
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much.

New to laser engraving. Enjoyed your video. Can you tell me, do you set your 0.0 point at where you want to start engraving? Thank you!
I always manually move the laser to the lower left corner of my design, focus it, and tell it to frame. Then I adjust my project to meet the laser. That is the best way I have figured out how to do it.
How did you get your buttons at the bottom ?
On the software?
what do you use to mark your project alignment, could not tell what it is?
Depending on the material - I use soap, chalk, pencil, and masking tape.
i have laser machine like this ..i want to engrave alluminium material . how can i do?
It depends if your machine has strong enough watts. I am testing a new 10W machine, and it engraved wonderfully on stainless steel, I haven't tried aluminum yet.

I'd love to help. Maybe email me specific questions. I had a hard time finding instructions as well! diyonthehouse@gmail.com
Where do you get your engraving files from? Are the files free or do you pay for them? Thanks.
We subscribe to Freepik.com. Most .png files will work, we create the files in Adobe Illustrator.

hi i just buy a new laser machine 4045 and i don’t no how it works, can you please, show me how to do it please, thanks.
If you are using lasergrbl the video should walk you through it.
The company put it very nice, but they pretty much force to buy their software to print and customize anything, otherwise can not use to customize anything.
Laser GRBL is the free version or light burn is $60. We did use GRBL for sometime before we switched to Light Burn.
Thank you very much
