I'm also Indian and Black, my dad's family are Indian and my mom's are mixed Black. There are 5 of us kids and we all look so different even though we look alike, if that makes sense. He is a good boy but the hitting is not okay. I really think it’s important to be stern with him to let him know not to hit people. If he can do it to his parents he may do it to other people and some absolutely will not put up with that. Use your words, not hands because kids see that and model that behavior.
