Yellowjackets Season 2 Interview: Courtney Eaton Defends Lottie
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2024
- From powering through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in Mad Max: Fury Road to trying to survive the wilderness with a group of teenagers who turn to violence and cannibalism in Yellowjackets, Courtney Eaton is loading up her filmography with ambitious projects, and excelling in them.
Eaton quickly emerged as one of the most curious characters in Yellowjackets Season 1 playing Lottie. Soon after the plane crashes in the wilderness and Lottie runs out of her medication, the unusual behavior begins. Bad feelings about the cabin in Episode 2, a supposed possession in Episode 5, and visions in Episode 6 all pave the way to increasingly dark and occasionally violent behavior. But how much of it is her fault? Can we blame the mushrooms, the absence of Lottie’s medication, and perhaps the other Yellowjackets for warping Lottie’s words and intentions? That’s exactly what I discussed with Eaton on a brand new episode of Collider Ladies Night!

So the name change was only for Liv, and other episodes will continue to be titled "Ladies Night"?
@@vot4ol We'll reveal our next Collider Forces guest VERY soon!
I really see young Lottie as very compassionate and empathetic. not evil.
Yeah but there was the whole "Let's rape and murder Travis while bullying Jackie" during Doomcoming.
@@nekrataali that's a good point
@@nekrataali they were on heavy drugs dude
@@nekrataali she was high as f there and maybe with mental problems the mushroom were worst for her
@@nekrataali i mean she thought he was a DEER (because MISTY tried to drug coach) not tried to R-word him... she was drugged UNCONSENSUALLY and considering her condition, being forced on shrooms could most definitely alter/affect lottie's brain chemistry WAY WORSE than the others, especially having to wean off her antipsychotics (also affect brain chemistry) cold turkey. so i don't know if it's fair to say this is who she is at her core.
I love Courtney and Simone, they really resemble each other, and both are Maori in real life.
Saw a side-by-side comparison of Simone in her 20s and Courtney and they definitely look related. I think it's interesting how tall Courtney is compared to the rest of the '96 cast, but Simone is around the same height as the 2021 cast. To me, it's a sign they weren't done going through puberty and a few of them had growth spurts once they got back to civilization.
Omg Simone is gorgeous 😍
Isn't Courtney Aussie?
I could tell where this was going as s2 progressed. At the end of the day Lottie didn't even start or want any of this and was pressured, put on the pedestal, gaslit into believing it's her fault, lied about and made the scapegoat by others to cope with their own guilt and to not take accountability for their own actions.
Even as adults, it was easier blaming it all on the "mentally diagnosed girl" who is locked far away than to accept their part in the wilderness era. It was interesting adult Van was the only one to take some accountability and finally say out loud what we've seen throughout this season and what I suppose might develop further next seasons too, telling the group - "It's not right! We did this to her!" And essentially, Van is right.
Courtney complimenting Perri's interviewing was so sweet. Perri is truly one of the best in the business. another great YJ interview, thank you!
the way lottie is written is spectacular. no matter what she does, present or past version, there is so much empathy in me for her situation and her motivations in what she chooses as her course of action.
courtney and simone both delivered this season and were the shining stars of it. lauren ambrose did say simone had done a lot of heavy lifting as adult lottie. i know now exactly what she meant. and, again, courtney, too. the two versions track so well between each other that i as a viewer feel i've got a roadmap of lottie in my hands. it's incredible and completely one of a kind, and what courtney did with her was beyond my wildest expectations.
couldn't be happier about this interview! thank you so much for the coverage, perri, i desperately needed this after the earth-shattering finale...
I have 0 sympathy for Lottie. All my sympathy is for everyone else. You support her motivation of murdering some one in the adult timeline?
@@brittanylewandowski6200 i never said i supported any of what she decided to do. having empathy is much different from that, and my empathy for her doesn't cancel out the empathy i feel for the other yellowjackets. they're all part of one team, and i look at them as one.
van _was_ right when she said lottie had turned into this thing because of them all. they've all got that responsibility to share (responsibility, not guilt, because that would be different). she was thrust into a position of leader, blamed for the start of the rituals, and before that beaten to a pulp for the sake of shauna's and the whole group's emotional needs (the fact that she _‘volunteered‘_ isn't the point here). you can't expect her to be on the same level of fucked up as the rest of them in the present timeline, it's logical and that she's gone overboard by a hundred, given the details of what went on that we even _know_ about at the moment. in her case, the entirety of episode 9 was spent in an active delusional state. she's stuck in that trauma and obsessed with the coping mechanisms she's acquired in the wilderness because the PTSD (that they all probably suffer from) won't let her lead any life other than dysfunctional. ‘nothing is safe, nothing is ever safe _unless_ we do what we did then. it kept us alive, didn't it?’
bearing all that in mind, i see empathy as the only reasonable response to her character. i'm saying this, and in the same breath i'm saying she has to take accountability for her actions; first for her dubious cult practices, second for the initial decision to whip out the phenobarbital, as well as the fuckery beyond that.
i condone none of this, but i can't ignore the clear signs on display. treating her as something else instead of as a survivor with her own pain like the rest of the women seems weird to me.
i hope that answers your question. and just in case, let's agree to disagree.
@@migratory.114 And you cant group them as one, They're all different people. Plus Travis, Shauna and Nat deal with more trauma than the rest of them (in that order) And Van was wrong. Lottie was fucked up before the plane crash. She did it to THEM, Lottie and her parents caused everything.(More specifically her father.) If not for Lotie there wouldn't be the creepy cult shit, plus how she acted towards Shauna and her baby before the labour was fucked up and creepy. Shauna should have killed her then and there.
I don't think the actress playing adult Lottie is very good either.
@@brittanylewandowski6200 that just shows how much we differ because simone kessell is a revelation of the season for me. so, this dispute will result in nothing. as i've said, agree to disagree.
also, i see you've written another response to me, but youtube is being weird and won't show the actual thing when i open the comment thread. that's just as well since i don't want to engage. i already wrote a long ass initial response for the purpose of not going further with this.
anyway, have fun with the characters, to your own opinion of which you are entitled.
courtney truly understands lottie and it’s such a blessing to see. she plays her with so much respect. i don’t understand why people see her as evil when it is very clear all she wants to do is help in the way that she can. (the hand on the chest, the blood drinking ritual before they hunt… it’s all about keeping them safe to her) and i adore how she always talks about the thin line between this is lottie, maybe this is a mental illness, maybe not. she’s just a girl figuring out how to live with her mind, her insecurities, her body. so so much respect, so beautiful to see. i want to give courtney all her flowers for it!!
Yesss I’m so glad you got Courtney on here! She’s so nice and one of the best actors on a show with an entire cast of incredible actors. Her performance as Lottie this season was one of the standouts for me. I really wish you could interview everyone on the show. You always have the best questions Perri!
And such a humble human being... love the actor and the character ....
@KC Lol yeah I see you all the time too. I will always defend this show. I love it so much. 🥹❤️
She was pretty good in Mad Max Fury Road, i was wondering where is she after that. Then Yellowjackets fleshed out her talent even more and it was so good. I heard that "Parachute", her new movie is very good so I'm interested to see that
Lottie is a fascinating character. What both actresses did with her is so compelling. Definetely one of the standout performances and characters.
Lottie is out of all the characters from yellow jackets the most tragic. And both Courtney and simone play her beautifully I hope the both get emmy and golden globe noms
Lottie is one of the most complex characters I've seen in any fiction and watching her evolve throughout the series is one of the best parts of this show. Great performance by both actresses.
i love courtney sm she seems like the sweetest person ever
She is awkward and shy ... such a sweet humble human being despite being drop dead gorgeous and wildly talented
Courtney Eaton deserves so many bigger roles. I recently watched her first ever lead role in a movie called "Parachte" which is Brittany Snow's directorial debut starring Courtney in her first ever leading role and having seen it, wow i'm so amazed by her talent. It'd be a missed opportunity if we don't see her more in bigger and better roles. Mad Max Fury Road, Yellowjackets, and Parachute proves how talented she is as an actress. Thank you Brittany Snow for showcasing how wonderful Courtney is
great interview, love courtney so much! the part about lottie’s emptiness that’s shown even in the pilot when she’s eating breakfast alone was so good. that’s the scene that made me fall in love with the character. yes she has funny quips and comebacks, but she’s also a very emotional character. I think that’s something many people can relate to.
Courtney Eaton : where do I begin? What’s not to love ? Kind sweet intelligent gorgeous funny cool and interesting ... such a lovely human being :)
I love courtney fr 😭
omg i’m so happy you got courtney on here!! so curious of her thoughts on lottie
I'm OBSESSED with her Lottie and her persona, so hypnotizing
Fantastic! And Perri is such a great interviewer. I hope she gets to do more of these longer interviews with the rest of the cast.
Really great interview, as always! It was especially interesting to have her POV on who Lottie is, how she feels and why she does what she does. I’m just completely obsessed with this show and only this interviewer asks the question I’m dying to have answers to. Loved it.
loved it! courtney is right, perri always has the best questions. such a fun interview, i love courtney and i hope we can see more of her soon for s3
Courtney is just so lovely! I wish the interview was like 60 minutes long. But it's true! You are the BEST interviewer out there. Especially with Yellowjackets. Truly! Your questions are so, so great!

Perri interviews are awesome
Great Interview! Lottie's one of my favorite characters in Yellowjackets. I love how protective both Courtney and Simon are of their character. I can't wait to see more of Lottie's story in Season 3!!!
i truly appreciate your interviews so much. it helps me escape for a little while and remember that these characters are played by such amazing people
I love her sm 😭 ❤
she is the standout of the show to me
This has become my favorite interview channel. Love your chemistry with everyone and how comfortable you make your guests feel.
Perri's interviews are always so thoughtful and she's really matched by such amazing thoughtfulness from Courtney here...the way Courtney pauses and thinks on the question at 19:30 is such a great example, I love the care they both take to really talk about all of this stuff in a nuanced way.
Lottie is my favourite yellowjacket! both young and adult, Lottie is mesmerising and mysterious. No doubt she has powers, too bad no one is willing to actually help her, rather than lean on her for help.
I totally agree with Courtney. Perri you are so authentic and genuinely enthusiastic that your coverage has been amazing.
FINALLY i have been waiting for this 😭
I love this entire cast so much. I can’t wait to continue to follow everyone’s careers. Not a single person is wasted and everyone is so interesting. Lottie is an awesome character!!!! Also want to say I’ve been watching Perri’s reviews for a while now (even on old deactivated RUclips accounts 😂😂) so I’m so proud of you on your success!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG YAS MY WIFE FINALLY HAS AN INTERVIEW 😩
I love Lotti so much. She's such a beautiful sweet soul and it broke my heart when she got the hell kicked out of her.
love that lottie scene she referenced in the pilot, it was very empty and sad to watch her leave without saying goodbye to her parents
Love this actress as young Lottie she is really killing it. Can’t wait for season three
Another fun edition, Everyone rocks there and here 🙏🏽😁
Two great ladies.
she's like an excited puppy. i'm gonna kms
no cuz how can i be in love with a person only from screen😭
Great video.😃
Lottie did what the others couldn't do and lead them to the wilderness so shes really the it girl 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Like bro I am sick of the hatred of Lottie’s character- like she is the nicest and most empathetic survivor out of all 5 remaining survivors alive tbh- people are just like ‘SHE IS MENTALLY INSAN OMG SHE THE ANTLER QUEEN SHE THE BIG BAD AAAAAAAA”
I just rewatched Mad Max Fury Road in preparation for Furiosa. I gotta say, as everybody knew how good Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were, one of the most underappreciated aspect of that movie were Immortan Joe's wives. The actresses including Courtney Eaton were absolutely brilliant as the wives. And given the majority of them including Courtney were models, not actress and Mad Max Fury Road were their big break in the film industry, they impressed the heck outta me. George Miller used their talent very well, glad that they're not just for pretty lady image, they were given cool characters to work with
i think shes the final girl when the show ends
I hope she’s the final girl, but I’m fairly sure it would be Shauna or Misty. Misty is an obvious pick, but Shauna is so stupid lucky, she gets away with everything.
she so cute omg
SHE IS SO CUTE 🥺
me and courtney are always on the same page
Young and current Lottie cute
lottie is so pookie i’ll always defend her
She a witch in real life
The music in the background is driving me nuts...i can't focus on what they sre saying lol😢
🤔
She might have been miscast. She just stands out too much (and not just in height) to not at least be cast as Jackie. She's a swimsuit model and the rest of just look like typical attractive teens.
god forbid beautiful women want to get stranded in the wilderness and be mentally unwell
Lol miscast my ass... she is the character pay attention ... such a sweet but also troubled soul... you can see there is a lot inside her mind ... she IS Lottie ... best casting choice along with Jackie !
