Hi , not sure what you mean , by fulfilled in metaphor, but the bible does often repeat self , I suppose cause history does the same. Some of the prophetic warnings were meant for back then and now. The some of the same thing that happened in the past will happen again and are even starting to happen now.
There are layered prophecies to a degree in scripture. But not layered in the sense that we have license to speculate nor can we assume that all prophecies are layered. For example, Daniel 8: is not a layered prophecy. That verse you quoted can also be interpreted to mean, "when is the vision fulfilled?" and I believe that to be correct. The time of the end certainly does not mean the end of all time as prophecy would serve no purpose then...
They were not a nation they were many different tribes at least that is what my Cherokee side of the family believes .Do you have a problem understanding what a notion is ? Maybe you should try and study some history .
