One year later and still loving my stained concrete flooring. Followed your video down to the T.......just sent your video over to my sister in law mother in Houston Tx to start her DIY stained concrete project....PS no one can go wrong if they listen and follow you step by step.
I watched this video 7 years ago when I was staining my basement floor. This by far is the most thorough video you will find. Thank you Ken for helping me out and others here.
Super video! We are about to stain our floors, we ordered samples from another company and just could not get the color we wanted. Went to a Kemiko dealer and got a few samples from him (they do not make samples at this time just the help from this dealer in Dallas) The kemiko stain has got us to the point we are ready to do our floors. My point with this is THIS video has the BEST information of any I have found! We start Monday cleaning and staining, cant wait!!
Wow I feel like a pro and pumped with super confidence that I can stain my own indoor concrete floor and you are located in East Texas. So grateful I found your video and thx a million!
Great video, thanks for all the useful info. I'm going with a different product but I'm sure all the same tidbits of info will come in handy. Hope that your business is successful! Cheers!
I didn't have a problem with ups bringing mine. We're going to be doing our concrete floors in our house this weekend. What is the name of the wax that I'll need? I have everything else.
What about stains that have penetrated the concrete and won’t come out ? The only thing that’s worked so far is a wire wheel on my impact . I worry that will make spots in the concrete that are more porous than the rest and mess up my work . Thank you 😊
I have a open porch with a dark drown water-based stain and sealer. Can I remove this stain so I can go to a lighter color like tan/lighter brown or am I stuck with the dark brown?
If using baking soda to neutralize, how much baking soda is used per gallon of water? I've searched the Internet and have found anywhere from 1 cup of baking soda per gallon, to 1 cup of baking soda per 5 gallons of water for neutralizing.
I want to stain my concrete plain window boxes with this stain. 1st is it ok to use this stain on a planter where it will get wet? Do i need to put a protective coating on top of the stain? If so, which one? 2. I need it to be a bone color which its slightly darker and not soy grayish, its more like grayish/beige the color im wanting and its very light and transluscent. Just to color the concrete A BIT more towards beige/sand color. Is this light color possible? I dont see any light colors on the chart and i would need to put a bit of a light brown with a hint of black, to water. The things is that to achieve the light color i need, it will be almost all water. Will it work to but just a tiny amount of color in the water? Lastly, if i need to put a top protective coat if i wanna do the driveway too, will i need to re do the protective finish every once in a while? Or not needed? If so, how often? Thanks!
im wanting to do concrete staining to my very very small bathroom which is in a mobile home . what are the steps i need to do to in order to accomplish this task the bathroom floor is about 25 sq foot
Thank you. You advertise the 3 different sealers at the end Clear-a-thane, Stone tone and the Eagle. If I want the Matte finish, using water based as you suggest for durability, would i use only the Clear a thane?
Question: would it be better to lay a floor down and then stain or stain the individual bricks? I'm building my husband a custom grilling station, so I'll want the brick floor a bit darker than the accent bricks.
Due to wear and tear, some parts of my concrete flooring does not take the stain. I degreased as kemiko recomended but still I see patches. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a lime patch of some sort I could put in those patches so that the stain stick.
You would be best off finding a concrete dye that best matches your current look, mixing with acetone and spraying it in those areas and trying to feather it into the existing pattern. You can use multiple dye colors and overlay them to get really close matches. Then seal the floor over the dyed area.
Help!? -Professional poured slab 2015 -Same professional acid etched floor 2016 and failed to achieve black (my request). -Same pro then died the floor black. -Same pro then put 3 coats of black SOLVENT wax (or sealer?) over die. -Same pro then put clear ACRYLIC wax over top. The floor turns my socks black and the material is coming up (showing the die). Stripping the acrylic wax sounds easy and there's lots of local support, youtube vids etc. I can't seem to find any info on how to remove the solvent stuff though. Anyone want to share their opinion? Thanks in advance!
The best and most descriptive how to video ever!

Do you recommend profiling or grinding the concrete prior to using the stain?
I have a open porch with a dark drown water-based stain and sealer. Can I remove this stain so I can go to a lighter color like tan/lighter brown or am I stuck with the dark brown?
It is almost impossible to make it lighter. You can grind it all off and start over.

My project is a very porous barn floor built in 1930 is there a need to sand first?
Not necessarily. It works on old concrete too

whats the sq ft labor price on this

The stain is way darker than the sample pic. We mixed it 50% and 25% to 75% stain to water and it was still really dark.
