- Part 1 of the Neorg series! It's finally here :)
This tutorial series takes you from zero to hero in life organization with the Neorg plugin for Neovim from the creator of Neorg himself (hey that's me!).

You are WAY too hard on yourself. The video is fantastic! Really appreciate you taking the time to make it. I'd used org-mode on emacs when I was into that back in the day, and it seemed like a natural and powerful way to structure text and information.
Hah, being hard on myself gives me the motivation to improve so it's fine :p
thank you so much for the kind words!
haha i love how you can tell you work on your config every day when you say "use whatever plugin manager you want, but its probably lazy as most people use that now adays", when it was released like one month ago
Yeah, today i started to upgrade my config, and everyone is using lazy instead of packer...
@@mishikookropiridze its probably the best if youre upgrading your config anyway. But its not worth the hastle to switch if your packer config is working fine
@@tandlose Yeah, no i have already migrated from Vundle to Packer, when i moved to full lua setup. not doing that again for quite while.
So is the word lazy the new click bait :D
@@mishikookropiridze the real reason why I will move out is because Packer is no longer mantained, so I will switch it.
fantastic idea to make a series on this. lots of love. please continue this series.
Thank you for this work. Waiting impatiently when the plugin gets mature.
Love the video! Thank you for taking the time to put this together, it's been a huge help so far in getting Neorg setup and running.
Nicely presented! I'd be particularly nervous about spoonerising "Troubleshooting Treesitter", myself.
Finally! I was waiting for it. Looking forward to it
Awesome! Already waiting for part #2 :)
Thanks a lot for the series, this is exactly what I need in my life right now. Eagerly waiting parts 2/3/4/..
When you open a link does it open in a new buffer or does it delete the old one? On a related note, how are you navigating back to the previous note?
Awesome Video, thanks a lot for this!
But please, I need info on your Firefox Setup :D How did you get the vertical Tabs without the Treestyle Tabs Banner and how did you hide the original horizontal tab bar? :D
Thanks for the video! How did you get that folder structure sidebar in GitHup looks pretty neat
do we have exporting to html and pdf?
Let's gooo!!
I have been using Obsidian for years, I have a lot of notes there. I use Neovim as my daily driver for 5-6 years now. Is there really any good of a reason to swap once you're as invested as I am in a personal knowledge management system?
Can't wait for part 2!
this is amazing.. i love this new trend of the people associated with the project make videos
Amazing! More of that good stuff!
Great work. Keep up
Your accent reminds me of Yuval Noah Harari. You have redeemed the accent by not being evil like Harari.
damn you have a voice didn't realize.
Is there any info for the mac os c++ compiler? I'm a bit lost here.
How in gods name do i bind localleader in lunarvim?
How do I setup the localleader? You just brushed over that...
i am loving this. gonna be part of family by eod :)
Why my neorg isn't hiding the asterisks once I moved the cursor off?
11:43
It's likely because you haven't set the Neovim `conceallevel` option. It should be set to 2:
vim.opt.conceallevel = 2
@@vhyrro Thanks!!
Yes! Finally! I've been looking for a tool like this one for god knows how long, all to no avail, just to randomly discover it here scrolling through my recommendations list
ahh, thank you
and the video was awesome :)
súper cool video. hope to see more about this project! Chao
Can you embed images into Neorg notes?
Can you please make an update video about the changes that happened up to now?
Look at that, catching up to emacs
Can neorg do tables ?
14:55 ¡Hasta luego!
these data are used
so is the norg markup language just a replacement of the emacs org markup language?
I was so surprised when I first saw this in my recommendations, I recognized the youtube channel profile picture instantly from the Github profile.
Thank You!
Is there any way I can use which-key with neorg for the keybindings?
awesome video very informative
I dont know why, but this not working with packer. I was had to rebuild my config with lazy to use it
Wrote this comment before watching the video. Love that you made a series of this and looking forward to it.
Sorry for the noob question. But, can this be utilized on mobile devices? I see that org-mode can be used on mobile devices, but I haven't see any documentation about that for Neorg.
There's no dedicated app for Neorg on mobile, however I personally use tmux on android and synchronize my notes with syncthing. The workflow is alright in my experience.
That is not to say there is no mobile app planned - there is! But there's a lot to do before anyone begins work on that :)
@@vhyrro I’ll check it out. Thank you.
@@vhyrro Are you meaning termux on Android?
@@dongdonglee3590 Yup I meant termux, not tmux, woopsie
Why not just use org-mode then?
Great Vid. What add-ons are you using with firefox?
Is Neorg compatible with beorg?
Thank you.
Can you please share your Neorg config that you use?
Can you please make a section on your git repo for lazyvim users
Anyone who are interesting of how it works skip to 8:30
Thanks for the video! :-)
First Neorg video !!!! I remember reading this in the Readme. Amazing work. I love this project.
First person to actually make me understand Norg. Deserved sub, and thanks for the lessons!
Hi thanks for the great work! I am having a problem tho (as someone already mentioned in the comment) the markdown format does not render. Do you have an idea?
sounds like newyork :D
My bold, italics, and so forth, doesn't work for me, Need help as I'm new to neovim: Have NVchad and installed neorg without flaws. Just this part is bugging me out
i love you Vhyrro
Thanks so much! I'm trying to organize myself, and neorg seems like a fantastic tool. Fantastic explanation for a fantastic plugin :)
@Vhyrro
What font and theme did you use in this video that the italic is working? My italic and strikethrough don’t work. Thanks
I know it's a year later, but I use MesloLGS Nerd Font Mono and colorscheme "sonokai" and all decorations now work (bold italics underlines and strikethrough). This is the only combination that ended up working for me after days of tooling around with it.
Very impressive.....
amazing work, amazing
Fantastic. I love this already
Thank you!!!
Cool! Can not wait the followings!
Great Video!
Great work
Very good video :)
Amazing!
you are doing well
I love Neorg! Awesome video🎉
interested in part 2
Please finish this project, lets end this need of emacs org mode, with a finally working completed org vim
Perfect!
I use to know emacs & org mode but switched to vim now neovim a while ago and always wanted to dive into neorg but never found the courage.
This video series is exactly what I needed, thank you!
This thing (v0.1) folds every type of file you load not just .norg 😐
Interesting
Do you mention e492 error not editor command. I have this warning, How could I solve it? Thanks
This error appears on packer but not in lazy. SOlved
What is your github browser plugin?
I use gitako for the file tree in github :)
What is the GitHub extension?
It's gitako :)
Okay cool, but how do I exit vim?
Why not markdown? Than it would be compatible with the rest of web and tools?
but then it wouldnt be a shiny new thing to play with?
I might make a video about why I didn't just go with existing tools, because the answer is fairly long :)
The short of it is - markdown is not a format but a general ruleset to create one, and by creating yet another dialect of markdown you might as well just roll your own format that is not only much less ambiguous and easier/faster to parse but also more suited for what I'd like Neorg to be able to do in the future.
@@vhyrro will you ever add a feature to translate norg files to markdown? so i can use the notes that i have created in neorg everywhere else? btw awesome job dude.
@@QmVuamFtaW4 There already is! Check out the wiki entries on core.export and core.export.markdown :)
Inevitably when the pandoc support is merged you'll be able to convert to and from virtually any format you could wish for, too!
@@vhyrro holy shi- dude thats awesome, love your work.
