There is also a "Spider Capo" which allows you to decide any string to be held down but you have to be careful how you attach it because you can dent the side of the neck. You could put multiple Spider Capos on and get some crazy stuff.
Great video Sean! I'm glad you're teaching the first position as the keys of "E" and "A"... I developed the Short-Cut back in 2001 and have been teaching it that way. Some people try to teach it based on the finger shapes and it causes transposing confusion!
Just got my SC CAPO delivered from SWEETWATER. Can’t wait to experiment!! Thanks Sean! BTW, has anyone tried the alt. Tuning: C-G-C-G-C-D? It’s pretty awesome!
With multiple customizable capos I would need to attach a little PEZ head representing the mood. I’m sure there will be a cybercapo with app developed soon.
This is cool but, but putting a capo is not the same as alternative tuning as it doesn’t change intervals between the strings, I mean if you play a full bare down the capo you would still have the same standard tuning string interval relations
Folk guitarist Don Conoscenti has been using partial capo’s for decades to get faux alternate tunings. Many of his songs he’s using more than one at the same time.
@seandaniel23 Brilliant Masterpiece and Beneath Your Moon are my two favorite albums. Plus I'm sure theirs some live video of him on RUclips somewhere. You might like his playing, he's got a unique style with the multiple capo's.👍
This is actually something id considered many times in the past while starting at my capo and hacksaw across the room.
Great DIY project

I'm gonna start keeping both my regular capos on the headstock of one guitar going forward. Total iving room guitar stand flex.
The ultimate show of POWER!
What a really great demo. Thanks Sean.
Glad you liked it!

Always interesting, and funny too… love your stuff
Thanks for watching!
Kyser also makes a "dropped D" 5-string capo. They're kind of fun, too
I put a 6 string capo over the lower 5 strings on the 4th fret. Then play a C chord with that bonus open C. It's a neat little songwriters trick.
Reversing the regular Kyser capo does the same thing. And you can put it on reverse from the bottom and capo 2,3,and4 strings..
Yup. Been doing that for years with mine!

So cool! Congrats on the new capo!
Interesting capo. If you put it on upside down at the 2nd fret, will it give you an open A tuning?
Agustín Amigó seems to be using a short cut capo on his great YT arrangement of The Corrs - What Can I Do. Worth checking out!
Thanks for the recommendation!
Short cut capo is a great idea!!
I've had a lot of fun with it.
Your best idea is a new guitar 🎸🎸for every alternative tuning 🎶🎵, but capos are fine 🤗

You sold me on it.

The math rock capo
I felt like I was holding in a sneeze that entire video.

I'll check him out!

Flipping a regular Kyser capo will do the Job, too😊
Pro tip!
BRILLIANY, any chance you can share a link to your finger picking style. I'm 62 and struggling to see how you do it. Cheers.
Your Mother must have fed you with a tuning fork Man.
You are a freak of music 😅
haha, thank you
Nice video and explanation but you once said putting the capo over the top is a no no.
Putting it over the top of what? On the headstock? I’ve always been a capo on the headstock guy!
Do they sell enormous blue ones?
Haha I’ll check their inventory!
I’ve actually been doing this for a couple years by using my capo backwards. 😂
Why are you adding an “uh” to the end of every sentence. “Now what I’m gonna do..uh” “I’m gonna go…uh”
or no capo at all
