    The most interesting aspect about Kim Hoon, is the he represents Mexico despite having a korean name
    The reason is that he moved to live in that country to teach taekwondo.
    It is a good reference to the fact that in real life, koreans who emigrated to Mexico ended up teaching taekwondo and currently Mexico is a country recognized for its good level in that sport.

    • @meganinten0078
      @meganinten0078 Месяц назад +2

      Here is Kim Hoon's backstory:
      "Because of his unfortunate childhood, he wandered around the back alleys in the United States. Like Han Bae-dal, he is taught the spirit of taekwondo with the help of his adopting father. After a successful career in the United States, he crossed over to Mexico. There, he strives to expand and spread taekwondo dojangs [korean gyms] for the guidance of youth.
      Likewise, he is challenged by the "King of Kings" and goes on a long journey."
      Note: 'King of Kings' is the name of the tournament

    The Cool thing about Robert Garcia is that he actually got his own Storyline in "Art of Fighting 3" which proves he has more Character Development than Ryo Sakazaki and all the other Ken Type FG Characters.

    • @Ninja07Keaton
      @Ninja07Keaton Месяц назад +2

      Not true. Ryo had AOF1&2, and in those 2 games, Ryo proved worthy as a master of Kyokuken, and fought off Geese Howard. Something no one else, save Terry Bogard, was able to accomplish. Robert's development was strong in AOF3, no doubt about it. But more than Ryo? Not at all. Robert needs at least a few more games where he's the focus. A run to give Robert much more than one outing where Ryo plays the support role.

      Actually Ryo has more development than Robert when you consider his transformation into the second Mr. Karate where he decides to show off his karate style but instead just train for selfimprovement. He even changes his moves to use Takuma's as well as more realistic moves in Buriki One. He even keeps exisiting in Maximum Impact 2 as the oldest fighter from the cast who still seeks selfimprovement.

    Robert is SNK’s ACTUAL Ken equivalent. I’m tired of them trying to force this weird Terry/Ken “rivalry” like they are such similar characters or something. As someone who has been playing Fatal Fury since 1992 and SF since 1991, they aren’t. Terry is the main character of his series and is essentially an “American Ryu” he loves to travel the world and hungers to face the strongest opponents possible to get stronger.
    Terry and Ken have nothing in common outside of wearing red and having blonde hair. It’s extremely superficial. Robert on the other hand is a direct reference to Ken and was purposely designed to be his equivalent.
    Edit: Agree with every single one of these by the way great list.

      I also agree with you, people have also been trying to make Ryu and Kyo face each other because they are the Japanese headband wearing protagonists of their respective games but Kyo is more similar to Ken than Ryu. He's Rich, his moves are flashy, and he controls fire.

    • @Dirtyboots3strikes
      @Dirtyboots3strikes Месяц назад +5

      Blame SNK for constantly pushing for Kyo to be the face of SNK for Capcom vs SNK 1/2. It pretty much cemented that because it was the first major crossover between the two companies. The fact they had to reuse a lot of assets(as usual) for most of SFA and the majority of SNK's Roster in CvS is KoF centric, it was pretty much just SF vs KoF.
      Terry being the limelight again after his Smash debut was a turnaround that I'm glad happened.

    "Ninpoh Furin Kazan!"
    Kotaro Fuuma, the best ninja in World Heroes!
    The guy may not be very smart (in fact his IQ in his bio describes him as 'Smarter than a monkey' 😆) but when it comes to martial arts the red ninja is a genius/tensai.
    After his first defeat at the hands of Hanzo, Fuuma recognized his great pride and ego and decided to train again, although he does not like to exert himself too much, in order to catch up with Hanzo.
    In fact, as part of his training he decided to imitate Hanzo's techniques but in his more ostentatious, flashy style and even developed his own original techniques 🔥
    Also in Aggressors of Dark Kombat, because Fuuma cannot use his fire techniques (because he forgot to bring his magic sword) he fights using other techniques effectively.
    That's great, I like it when characters can fight even without their superpowers.
    I personally prefer Fuuma's gameplay in Aggressors of Dark Kombat, he was no longer a shoto in that game.

    2:54 2:58 I am sorry but I think Fuuma and Hanzo have the best looking "shoryukens" in the 90s
    Especially in World Heroes Perfect
    Even to this day, those moves look wonderful
    I prefer Fuuma over Hanzo.
    All of Hanzo's endings are pretty much the same (Hanzo wins and leaves to find stronger opponents)
    Fuuma's endings are different and very funny 😆
    Unlike Hanzo, Fuuma ended up liking the modern world so he decided to have a double life.
    He is still the leader of his clan in his time but he also works as a salaryman in the future.
    Unfortunately, his performance at the company he works for is not very good and that is why he has problems with his bosses, even so, it must be admitted that the red ninja has a great capacity to adapt.
    Fuuma also founded a dojo in the future as you can see in his World Heroes 2 ending,
    And yes, Fuuma's love for women is sometimes greater than his desire to defeat his rival 😁
    He has flirted with Ryoko Izumo, Kisarah Westfield and especially Jeanne 'Janne' D'Arc
    In Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, Dr. Brown asks Fuuma to participate into the tournament to recover the time machine he gave to the main villain, Fuuma did not want to go until the good doc mentions that there will be gorgeous women there so Fuuma decides to enter the tournament 😂

    The thing with Cobra is personality-wise he more resembles Cody from Street Fighter. Look at his whole background. He's on the streets trying to survive city life. Starts off beating up every thug trying to see what martial arts he can pull off. However he gets corrupted and starts bullying innocent by standers and becomes a thug himself and joins the Black Dragon. Cody did vigilante fighting and; although not being a criminal, went to jail anyway. He became slightly corrupted and than was able to turn his life around and now become mayor of Metro City. Kobra; on the other hand, continued being a violent thug until he got washed and killed by Kira. So basically he's a hybrid if Cody and a bit of Axel for background; except 💩, and looks like Ken Masters. Trust me he's no one's boy. However MK1 is such 🐴💩 now I bet bro has a chance to make a comeback no one wants to see; except they'll make him a woman and blend his character with Kira because hell why not at this point? @@kenyajohnson5044Terry isn’t the “Ken” to Kyo’s “Ryu” man. They don’t share moveset, aren’t best friends, etc. If anything Terry (and Ryo) are treated more like guests in KOF, because they essentially are. They never have anything to do with the overall plot of any of the games and are really just there to represent Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting.
      By the way Terry isn’t just more popular in America, he’s also more popular than Kyo in Japan as well lol. They did a poll back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s in Japan and Terry was the most popular SNK character followed by Geese, Nakoruru, Mai, Athena, and then Kyo.

    I think you could have also put Jacky Bryant as another character inspired by the archetype of Ken, a blond American with a fiery temperament and practicing an Asian martial art style with speed and a lot of kicks.

      I think the thing that keeps Jacky off this list is that he’s not a rival to the main character nor does he share the main character’s fighting style.

    I know he is hated by the majority of MK fandom, but Kobra was one of my favourite chars in 3D era MK days. His style was effective, easy to master and use, plays like Ken, and is based on Cobra Kai which is a good martial arts series I like. so he was one of my mains in MKD and MKA. too bad they made him just a generic goon and never used him again afterwards. but on a second thought, i hope they dont bring him back cause MK is Woke-tal Kombat now, so they would probably make him a gender swap bIack Iesb hahah :D

    Kobra is so not Ken that instead of being a millionaire playboy, he's too poor to even have a proper rival. Instead of getting his own Ryu to measure up against, this guy got washed by a Kano knockoff.

    CVS2 is trash. Only Capcom fan boys think it's good. It has a terrible roster, broken engine and the SNK characters were nerfed to death to make Capcom ones have a fighting chance.
