Thank you for a simple breakdown of fabric differences/uses! Any tricks for telling apart right and wrong sides of fabric when it’s not obvious? Linen etc..?
Some linens don't have a right or wrong side. For the ones that do the wrong side is usually rougher and the right side softer. For others the right side may have a sheen/shine to it. The wrong side is dull
Really useful vlog, thank you. My diva of a sewing machine will not sew viscose, and turns her nose up at most jerseys. So my overlocker has to work very hard. Anyway I’m wondering whether sewing tencel is like sewing viscose??
Hi Sophia, As someone returning to sewing after many years, I found your talk on fabric very helpful. Many thanks.
Thank you so much I'm so glad I could help. Happy sewing!! x

Sadly not I still struggle with this, what I tell my students is "pick your favourite side" haha x

Yes it will be more slippery. I recommend 'Sharps' needles and using tissue paper along seams if your machine hates slippery fabrics. 🧡
Thank you for that.
