Oh the wisdom that is gained from having one baby. I remember getting the advice that babies don't actually need a whole lot of stuff (and I didn't really listen). Our baby #2 is on the way almost 5 years after #1, but I feel so relieved making sure we only have essentials!
I’m on the same boat as you, I’m on baby number 2. My first baby is going to be 4. Luckily I have some of his old stuff but I don’t really need much either 😊
Thank you for your honesty!!! I can’t stand you tubers who say everything is a must have and it’s all stuff that’s super expensive. Your realness is so refreshing and reassuring
Thank you for making these videos! They are so helpful for us first time mommas. It can be overwhelming to create a registry and figure out what is needed for a new baby. I don’t want to spend a ton of money if I don’t need to.
Suggestion for the breast pump - if you go through a company like Aeroflow, they will give you the options available from your insurance, send a prescription request to your doctor's office for you, ship it etc. No need to contact anyone yourself.
If you buy a crib, get a cosleeper or is also called nest, it was shown together with the cribs when she was talking about it. It basically will prevent the baby from moving about in the crib while sleeps. With my son I used the little bassinet that comes with the pack and play as she showed. That is also a cosleeper if you take off the little hood thing. I put that in the middle of the crib and my son slept on it for 3 months. After he was on his crib without it and I had no extra stuff on the crib and he was fine. I think all kids are different, but I would definitely recommend a crib for first time parents.
Just wanted to mention that the UK seems to have different regulations on sleeping than the US. From what I have read they aren’t recommended to sleep in a pack and play type thing every day as the mattresses aren’t firm enough for their backs. Just worth noting as they are only intended for occasional use in the UK at least.
I am expecting twins in February and it’s my first pregnancy.. I was clueless and from your videos I got to learn a lot. You also helped me so much with the C- section video , I feel like I know what will happen in the surgery as well as the fear now decreased .. thank you so so much ❤️❤️❤️
I am binge watching all your videos because you are so relatable. I am pregnant with #2 after 5 years. I FEEL LIKE A NEW MOM. my 5 year old might as well be a teenager and I forgot all of this baby stuff 😓
THANKS MOMMA! My first is due December, I’m making my lists and checking them twice with confused, unsure eyes! This is exactly what I needed. BLESS YOUR HEART😇 I really needed that HONEST hand held walk through!!
THANK YOU for saying what to spend the money on and what to not spend the money on. This is a refreshing video compared to alot of youtube videos plastered with expensive name brand baby products that you don't know you should buy or not as a first time mom
Lol I love when she does videos like these on what your baby really needs. You really don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on things your baby will poop, pee, spit on etc and other things that were mentioned. I mean of course unless you want to. But really we got a pack and play with a changing table and napper. Looks great babies safe 🙃
If $500+ is bought off your registry (which you will spend more than that on baby anyways), amazon will give you 20% off diapers for a year! I combine that with the 20% subscription, so I get 40% off my diapers total!!!
This video is so humbling! I'm due in March and I definitely had moments where I was about to purchase something just for the name/look of it 😩I've had to return so many things because I just get carried away in all the cool, trendy things that other moms have across RUclips. Love that this list is super practical and doesn't break the bank!
Thank you for creating this video cause I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and freaking out about everything and not knowing where to start with a registry
I am pregnant with my first and I love your videos! I want to buy minimum amount for space reasons. You have helped me with gathering what I actually need to raise a healthy and safe baby! THANK YOU!!!
🙃 I want to thank you for talking at the speed you do. I tend to watch most videos on 1.25-1.5 because people talk so slowly and I don’t have time for that lol
most pack n plays should come with one mattress and one crib sheet. So if you go for the pack n play it should at least now a days come with a lot of things for use. They are fantastic
Could you do a video for baby #2? Registry, necessities, etc. Any information I can get my hands on would be great! I know you have twins so I guess this would be technically #3 for you, lol. I'm due in July with my 2nd baby boy, my first is 16 mos. 😊 Love your videos, they're so helpful! ❤
I'm 22 and after five kids my mom still has her crib lml it was used for decoration over the years and now I'm having my own baby and I get to have a free crib
This is so helpful, thank you! Im due in September with our first baby and have added/deleted soooo many things from our registry the past couple of months out of indecisiveness!
I’m due in September too! I have things on my registry that aren’t must haves and would be nice if someone got them. I’m not planning on buying everything on it after I get all the gifts.
I liked having a baby nest and used it for supervised time! However, it is definitely not necessary. I’m not sure let if I’m buying a crib yet, my parents have a portable one that I could use that is like the pack and play. I agree with with you on most things, you are very realistic about what is needed. It’s definitely nice to have some of the optional items but of course they aren’t necessary.
If you have a Once Upon A Child in your area, I HIGHLY recommend checking them out. I got an Eddie Bauer diaper bag for $10..looks like new. You can also sell your used items back to the store!
I’ll need to check that out again! The one time I went to a store like that in my area (called kid to kid) everything was so expensive for being used. But my mom totally took me shopping at once upon a child for all my clothes growing up 😁
Yeah, we haven't liked Kid to Kid. Once upon a child regularly has SUPER discounted items and if you follow them on Facebook they normally have sales frequently. :)
Thank you so much for this video I’m a new mommy ❤️ only 9 weeks into my pregnancy but I definitely wanted to start looking for what I need. I am glad I found your page 📄
Please do not buy a used car seat! It is better than nothing, but you never know if the car seat has been in an accident, or dropped, or otherwise have some unseen damage.
I am a Safe Kids certified car seat technician. Buy the seat that fits your budget, fits your car, and fits your baby height AND weight wise. Buy the seat that you can read the instructions on and understand fully. Buy the seat you can get a PERFECT install on EVERY time. If you’re unsure, have your car seat checked by a local CPST like me! I do recommend doing research about the seat you may want and seeking out a way to try before you buy. Make sure you’re confident using it properly before you find yourself in the place of needing it and hating it! Also bear in mind all the car seats on the market in the US must pass the exact same safety testing standards before being approved for sale. One seat is not necessarily “safer” than another simply based on price. The higher priced seats often just come with more convenience features and aesthetic than your typical budget seat. Infant carrier car seats unfortunately only last a short time, but they’re super convenient for the newborn stages when they’re little so you don’t have to wake them up to take them out of the car. Veteran mom of three (soon to be four) here as well. For my fourth baby, I decided to do the convertible 3 in 1 right away since I baby wear most of the time with my babies anyways. I am skipping the infant carrier personally this time since I hardly took it out of the car with my last three. Personal choice is totally a factor to consider, but I loved how you included the budget as a major deciding factor as well! I decided to skip it this time since I leave my infant carrier in the car anyways so I told myself “why spend extra on a seat you don’t use to it’s fullest potential?” 🤣
I got the city select before watching this so I'm glad you approve I love it and as far as the crib I got the 4 in 1 which turns into a toddler bed then turns into a twin then a full so I think mine is worth it because I refuse to keep buying beds 😂
Thank you for the list. This has been so helpful. We're expecting our first baby due at the end of the year and looking for essentials on a budget. We're going to try and buy most of it on our own.
i used the first bellababy breast pump believe me its awsom..i had medela pump and seriously wires, cleaning, it needed change in battery after a while...so much mess..while this small pump was $30 when i bought it and love the suction and portability of it
but the bottle sterilizer are the just to sterilize.. you have to wash first. I feel like you think it was going to wash and sterilize the bottle for you. I'm confused!
Hi! Thank you for this amazingly helpful video! Quick question, can you link the adaptor for the City Select stroller to be compatible with the Graco 35 infant car seat? The adaptors are very intimidating and I'm worried I will buy the wrong item!
Ok....so a mattress pad yes is NEEDED. The mattress for babies are designed with a waterproof surface. The mattress pad is to create air circulation for baby or your sleeping basically on plastic...sometimes baby will wake sweating on his backside...pretty miserable too. Laying on plastic with a cotton sheet over it makes difficult to regulate body temperature. Today’s mattress pads go a bit further by having a vinyl backing with a fabric top. Mattress pads also help keep urine from making the mattress surface brittle or urine seeping into a split mattress.
This video was amazing, but there is no way I am carting around a car seat when tiny babies sleep through everything and I can pop them into a wrap or carrier instead lol. I did that with my first and it was such a pain.
Thank you so much for your videos! You talked about high chairs but do you think booster seats or sit-me-up floor seats are necessary once babies are at that age to be able to sit up? If so, any recommendations?
Hi Mai! Great video! I was wondering if you recommend a cover for the changing pad, or just use the changing pad as it comes with no cover? Also, would you recommend sheets for the pack and play? Thanks so much for your help!
Can someone please provide the link to an adapter that is compatible with both the Graco 35 and City Select stroller? I have no idea what I'm doing, lol.
What did you put on the pack and play bassinet? Like blankets and stuff did you use a receiving blanket or cover the baby im due in three weeks ans i just donr want to suffocate my baby or put stuff that's unnecessary
Hi Mai, I ordered exactly car seat and stroller you recommended in this post. Do I need to order the car seat adapter to go with the stroller? You didn’t mentioned about the car seat adapter, I assumed that you didn’t need to put the car seat on this City Select stroller? Thank you for sharing all helpful tips for moms especially new mom like me. Thanks, Huong.
I know my current boyfriend might be the one because he has my ovaries all excited about having a baby with him lol. We're not at that stage yet, but I just can't stop watching baby videos.
They totally don’t know the difference and really don’t care! Veteran mom of three “soon to be four”. No shame in the thrift shop or Facebook marketplace game! Save yourself the dollars for something else amazing like a trip, or a fun experience for your family. The experiences are what kids remember most and not the objects they owned. Also saves our landfills from so much waste since we all are told to buy buy buy new things with all these ads we are exposed to. Our culture is so disposable and it’s sad. We really should all be passing on our used items that still have life left to give!
I’m pregnant with my first baby and want to thank you so much for your channel and your videos. They have been so helpful. I’m overwhelmed and lost, even though I’m still in my first trimester.
Stay strong may god make us easy for us i my self r 11 weeks far and alone but god is with me every step of the way.. I pray for u x do the same for me many thanks and may god bless us
I'm 16 weeks with my second child, my first turns 11 in a few weeks. I didn't know I needed you, but omg are you my life saver. I feel like a first time mom again; lost, confused, and clueless. Everything has changed since 2009! It is a lot, thankfully my daughter was looking up baby stuff on here and found you, now we are both hooked and so thankful we found you!
Thank you sooooo much for these videos! I’m a mom of one who is now 12 years old 😳 and I’m currently pregnant. So you can imagine A LOT has changed lol. I felt a little overwhelmed on where to even start so thank you again ❤️
I just found out I am pregnant about a week ago, just started a registry cause I’m excited😂 these videos helped so much!! I took so much stuff off that wasn’t necessary. Thanks so much❤️
Just wanna say, I love your channel. I am 26 weeks pregnant and pretty much done with my registry, and I watched your last registry videos already (super helpful btw), but I'm here watching again, lol. Thanks for all the advice!
This will be my first/rainbow baby, I was excited and nervous to make a registry because I kinda already knew nobody would purchase anything since they didn’t respond to the baby shower invite so I canceled it, but still sent out the registry to “close friends and family” (Worth a try😛) and nobody purchased a thing other than my mom. I’m due end of August. I made up my mind and will not be letting anybody know when I do go into labor, announcing baby’s arrival or post about her. 🙃
Wow this video is so helpful! It's so overwhelming to start a registry when you don't even really know what you need, so it was nice to hear your perspective and it made me think of adding things I probably would've forgot!
Second time mom and I wish I would have this video for my daughter. I literally would have saved so much money. They actually need a lot less than people think.
As somebody who is trying for baby #1 I hope you know how liberating it is to hear "you don't need to spend money on..."
Thanks for being real!
Happy to help ya save some money so hopefully you can splurge on something else you really want/need :)
@@MaiZimmyYAS!
It’s relieving to hear when you’re expecting your first, but was completely unplanned! It’s overwhelming!

Yeah it’s weird I believe the Uk allows Moses baskets and we don’t consider them safe.
Baby #2 in 2 months with a less than 2 yr gap. 100% never seen better advise. Great job!

First time mom here. I don’t know you but I trust you, thank you for making this!
I wish I had known about the Amazon Assistant when I started my registry! That would be super helpful.

I loved this video very informative 👏 I'm having baby #2 soon. Starting my registry with your help thank you!
This definitely knocked me down a few notches 😂 in a good way. About to dump half the stuff on my registry.
This is unbelievably helpful!

And the crib I got is a 3 in 1 so it changes to a toddler bed and then to a regular bed

wow! this is such an informative video. Thank you!
I'm super short so I use a pack n play since reaching into a crib is super hard for me to do
Love this video! Soo good!👍💕
Glad you liked it!!
Do people really use changing table's? I have always changed baby on my lap or floor w a blanket underneath them
Super helpful, thank you

How to join Facebook marketplace?

😆😆 I love this comment 💕💕 you will be well prepared when the time comes!
for the breast pump from insurance, is it a rental or they give for free? I heard it's a rental, but don't know the exact answer
Free - rental for a hospital grade pump
Plz guide me
For real lol..crib is just a waste of money.i can't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣 mine cost $400 and we only used its once.
Omggg you’re GOD GIVEN!!! I just started my baby registry last night & was freaking out not knowing what to get!!! Then this popped up 💜
I try lol 😇I was in your exact spot a few years ago, so I know the feeling!
I’m expecting my first baby and I’m starting a registry. This is so unbelievably helpful, thank you so much.
I love how realistic this is! I’m 24 weeks and have been putting off a registry because I had no idea where to start!

Just wanna say, I love your channel. I am 26 weeks pregnant and pretty much done with my registry, and I watched your last registry videos already (super helpful btw), but I'm here watching again, lol. Thanks for all the advice!
Thank you!! I'm a ftm and due in November. I love your channel.
me: clueless
me: extremely grateful for this video
thank you!
Grandma deserves to know when you go into labor, she has proven that she cares by buying a gift.
I just learned I’m expecting, and being an extreme planner, I’m wondering when do I start my registry?
Start it whenever you want. There’s no rules.
