- I take lead over my squad in the sands of Tatooine, and it shows quickly that I was not ready to lead the Clones against a Tusken insurgent force. Galactic Contention is one of the best Star Wars mods out there! It's a 40gb total conversion mod for the game Squad on the Steam workshop! It's a surreal Clone Wars experience that Star Wars fans dream of, and I highly recommend it!

My favorite part about this game is how big the maps and teams are
You can be having a full scale battle in multiple places, coming from modern fps games with lobbies only up to 24 total players to this with 100 is crazy
Congrats to the mod community for managing to make full scale custom star wars maps big enough for a full scale war instead of a single skirmish

@Rob Gagnon people talk shit about sites like ibuypower but I got my pc from there for about 2 grand in 2018 and I financed it. You can choose how many months, I did 3 months personally. Still have that computer and have only had to change the cooler and I upgraded to nvme ssd. Solid recommend from me.

Gods, I would adore this mod. Would love a similar conversion for Halo operating at this same scale.

@@CertainPoint Not just being able to play as elites and grunts, but also brutes, jackals, skirmishers, drones and engineers.
With elites being commanders, able to call in supply drops and order orbital glassing strikes. Brutes would essentially be demoman types. Breaking shit and soaking up damage, the tanks of the front. Jackals and skirmishers being the primary scouts, snipers and saboteurs, able to mark areas for commanders to call in strikes on. And drones and engineers would be support. Able to repair vehicles and build advanced fortifications (every unit can build basic fortifications, but would have to call in drone or engineers if they want to upgrade them). With grunts taking on the rest of the jobs, from frontline fodder to being the backbone of supply lines.
I'll do a similar unit breakdown for the UNSC later if you want me to. Though I haven't thought as deeply into their roles as of yet.

Last time I logged onto Squad, I didn’t see any servers with GC loaded. Id probably play Squad more if I saw these servers more

It's a mod for an existing game that you need to buy. The devs dont make any money (other than donations) from it. I dont know the legality of it, but heres to hoping the mouse doesnt ruin it for us.
Usually companies don't care that much as long as they don't feel directly threatened by it. This is just a bunch of Star Wars fans having fun stoking that Star Wars passion and incredible skill.
It'd be different if they were selling it as a full priced game or something.

Ryzen 5 5600x and RTX 2060. Also 32gb of RAM helps too. Look up an optimization guide for Squad and that may help a bit!

Dude I just started this game and immediately got this mod. How can I join your server or can we play together?
What kind of pc setup would I need to play this, wanting to switch over from console
I use an 1060 with and I7 quad
But I have to run on low for an average of 50frames. The processor is really doing most of the work so I would suggest a better graphics card but and i7 is deffo decent for the job. Someone else can probably give you a much more detailed and succinct answer
Do you need anything extra besides the workshop add on to play this mod ? Like a dlc or something ? I wanna make sure before I spend 50$ and find out I can’t play it
