Gorgeous video and final artwork. It's so helpful to hear your learning process. On a different note, friend to friend, please wear a helmet. Accidents just happen. Please protect your noggins. End of PSA. ;0)
I really love watching you work and your husband does a great job of showing us what you are paintiing and the surrounding scenery and how you paint. Thank you both for all your efforts to help us see, understand and learn to paint better.
What a beautiful and informative video! Thanks so much Sarah. So many great nuggets of information here. I always look forward to your videos; they just make me want to go and paint! ❤❤❤
Girl, you crushed it! Sunsets are my go to subject. Thank you for doing this. It was so lovely. The drone footage looked like top notch stuff from PBS. Could have been a sceen from All Creatures Great and Small.
Thank you, Sarah. I enjoy your videos every time ❤️❤️❤️ I picked up a couple more tips and I love watching your process bc it helps me feel more confident in mine. Say hi and thank you to Sean for me.
I agree…nature and sunlight…so refreshing and inspiring. I particularly love this type of video you shared. Painting several small paintings of the same view…then reviewing and doing a larger painting in the studio based on your review. Inspiring me to really tune in to what I am “seeing”. Thank you for sharing. PS-I love that you were distracted by your adorable cat…😄
Also, I just want to say that I love it when you do a more loose style. It's wild and free and beautiful. I just bought my first a4 chunk of a 156-page sketchbook/art journal that I intend to have filled by the new year. It's for art and writing, but tbh, I draw more than I write...so, this will be a challenge. On the bright side, I won't have to spend any more money before Christmas on art stuff😂❤
Thanks for the video. Love your work! I really enjoy hearing you explain your thought process and I enjoy watching the process as you work on a painting! I have learned some helpful tips along the way. Love the tea cup!
As always, Sarah , you are so inspiring your videos always leave me with a sense of calm and peace, and with lots of new ideas of how to approach painting outdoors of course, I always love seeing all of these amazing scenes from Scotland
I’m amazed….. Your scene was so gorgeous and your four mini paintings picked up bits and pieces of it. However your final painting….WOW! You totally captured it!! I was trying to soak up what you painted and what you said. I am in awe of your painting….so beautiful.
I can see why you talk about the light in such loving terms - it’s truly beautiful, calming and inspiring and energizing all at once 🌅 Thanks for sharing it (and the lessons it teaches you about painting) with us! ❤
Absolutely gorgeous Sarah! You really did capture the feeling of that light in that valley I love the purple-gold background hills! Love your music choice too!👍
Sarah, thank you so much for sharing your process with us. It is very helpful to see from start to finish and listen to your comments and thoughts. I love the final painting.
Thanks for another inspiring video Sarah! Really enjoyed how you edited the section with the 4 color sketches. It’s such a great reminder to move quickly and intuitively to capture values, shapes and color notes. I love the idea of doing 4 on the same page in rapid fire succession.
Gorgeous autumn colours and lovely painting! On a different note, I can paint at a desk/table or on my lap, but I cannot seem to manage sketching/painting while standing. It would be so convenient under certain circumstances if I could!
Since you were painting fall colors, I would think with the colors drying slower and starting to bleed some into each other, that it could have actually enhanced the feel of the fall scenes you were painting.
Wonderful video! You really picked a beautiful scene and I loved walking through the creative process with you. By the way, I've got to say, I really like the brushes in your subscription box. Great quality, great snap, and they hold water very nicely. They are quickly becoming my "good brushes" right along with my Kolinsky sable inking brushes.
You lucky bunny. You have sunshine. On the south coast of England we have not had any sunshine for 3 whole weeks. Thanks for sharing your wonderful video.
Thank you, Sarah, for sharing a big part of your process. Please, can you also comment the magic how you can look at the same view 4 times WITH NO DELAY and even without hiding previous attempts and create new color composition each time? That's magic or split brain 😀
Loved the light across the farmland and shadows 😊 Please more videos like this. Trying to learn gouache with your boxes and watching your process is great. BTW I have looked up Hernandez, with whom you did your workshop. Interesting!
Wonderful painting and terrific video showing the beautiful scenery in Scotland. I enjoyed watching you paint on site, it was inspiring and taught me many tips how to manage outside. Thanks Sarah, when do we get to buy your travel brushes?
Thanks for showing your process! Very useful. I’d like to know more about wetting the paper, do you do it after you put the tape on? With a big brush to just get an even coat on? Also I’d like to see more of your on site cleanup of the palette and paint wells. I get lazy and don’t clean up often and then have dirty paint wells. Thanks again!
For my plein air I did not wet the paper first. At home I did with a big brush. My plein air palette is very dirty all the time. I use a cloth to soak up puddles of water but I rarely clean it all out. I paint too often to avoid it being covered in paint constantly 😄
How is it going with Wolfie now working for you full-time? How are finances and budget adjusting? I only want the best for you guys, and you guys seem to work well as a team, which I am so thankful for, and happy that you two have this in your relationship. I’m so happy for you two, and for this new stage in your life together.
Great video, when are your travel brushes coming out for sale? Last week while outside painting I was wishing for your brushes as travel brushes. Thanks.
Apart from OMG what an utterly beautiful video, (and so much for me to unpack and learn from it), I was curious about the rucksack straps you have on your Etchr slate mini. I'm pretty sure I have the same bag, but it has a single crossbody strap. Have you customised this in some way, or is it not the same bag as in your other videos? Thank you so much for doing what you do!
So I see you are using travel brushes that look like your regular gouache brushes. Will we be able to buy those soon? And will we be able to buy some of the other sizes of your brushes that were not in the original pack?
They are prototypes still, but will be available to buy - as soon as I know more I'll share that! Right now you can buy duo-packs of brushes that come in the gouache boxes (different sizes). Wait until black friday for sales :)
Hi Sarah- a question unrelated to this video. I subscribed to your art boxes about 2 months ago and have not received anything yet. What should I do next to rectify this? Thanks. Carol MacVey
Tea and paints. My favorite as long as I don’t dip the brush in the tea. Love this share
I almost did a few times!
Gorgeous video and final artwork. It's so helpful to hear your learning process. On a different note, friend to friend, please wear a helmet. Accidents just happen. Please protect your noggins. End of PSA. ;0)
@@bethcrane5780 true you don’t need to be on a road to wobble and headbutt a rock on the way down
I have such a hard time trying to capture the autumn leaves on the ground, even in a more abstract way. I'd love a tutorial on that specifically. ❤
I really love watching you work and your husband does a great job of showing us what you are paintiing and the surrounding scenery and how you paint. Thank you both for all your efforts to help us see, understand and learn to paint better.
Another amazing video. Hearing your analysis of your paintings was priceless. You are simply my all time favourite RUclipsr. Thank you so much ❤
Wow, thank you!
I put rosebuds into my tea too 😊
Love the paintings. And the final painting nailed the soft light!
What a beautiful and informative video! Thanks so much Sarah. So many great nuggets of information here. I always look forward to your videos; they just make me want to go and paint! ❤❤❤
You are such a good painter! I love that golden hour time of day! Lovely finished piece.😊

That’s exactly what I hope for ☺️
Your own brand of brushes seem to have a lot more spring to them than I thought you liked? Absolutely awesome video. Well planned and so inspiring
You are sooo inspiring!! Thank you for all your videos. I travel thru you and learn so much!!!
Same here 😊🤝
Thank you for being here!

Wonderful again. Enjoyed hearing your thought process. Very loose. Excellent lesson!
Love this video in and out of studio. Your videos are very well edited. Thanks 🎉
Marvelous instruction and time coming with you at the lovely place. So inspiring.
Absolutely gorgeous Sarah! You really did capture the feeling of that light in that valley I love the purple-gold background hills! Love your music choice too!👍
Thank you so much!
Such a serene video, great point on our desire to overrender. I'm working on this, but it's a process
It’s an ongoing process even for someone who has a loose style 😄 knowing when to stop is a skill in itself
Sarah, thank you so much for sharing your process with us. It is very helpful to see from start to finish and listen to your comments and thoughts. I love the final painting.
what a lovely location to paint 🥰
Thanks for another inspiring video Sarah! Really enjoyed how you edited the section with the 4 color sketches. It’s such a great reminder to move quickly and intuitively to capture values, shapes and color notes. I love the idea of doing 4 on the same page in rapid fire succession.
It’s so helpful especially when the scene is changing really fast.
Gorgeous autumn colours and lovely painting!
On a different note, I can paint at a desk/table or on my lap, but I cannot seem to manage sketching/painting while standing. It would be so convenient under certain circumstances if I could!
Such a beautiful painting Sarah. The light, atmospheric perspective on the distant hills, the water reflective surfaces love love love it all…. ❤️ PJ
Very nice! Thanks
Thank U 🎉

Wonderful painting and terrific video showing the beautiful scenery in Scotland. I enjoyed watching you paint on site, it was inspiring and taught me many tips how to manage outside. Thanks Sarah, when do we get to buy your travel brushes?

It does last hours in northern Sweden and Norway during June! The midnight sun

What brushes r u using?
Wow, where do you live with all those bike trails, and gorgeous countryside? !
Scottish highlands are full of great trails
Hi Sarah- a question unrelated to this video. I subscribed to your art boxes about 2 months ago and have not received anything yet. What should I do next to rectify this? Thanks. Carol MacVey
Beautiful painting 💚
I was wondering do you start with wet paper before adding watercolor paint?
Yes, that’s how to get the very soft effect
Did u try open acrylics in plein air? If so...what's your opinion?
Yea I have. I like them. But not when it’s cold out.
Is that the river Spey?
Aye
@SarahBurnsStudio I thought it looked familiar 😃
Is that final painting in watercolour or Gouache?
Gouache
