I absolutely love India’s tribute to James Taylor! I adore that song. Her style was so great. Every once in a while I’ll look for it and then play it over and over. (The Secret of Life)
I met India Arie at the West Hollywood Wholefoods store at its opening gala. I was promoting New Zealand beef and lamb. She was performing and I was totally taken with her. It was just before she was to embark on her journey with Sade. We spoke briefly. Her essence was just as divine then as it is now.
Crazy/sacred space was my wedding song 💜 as a healer India's music has been vital in my awakening process. It has affirmed, confirmed and open me up to so much. I share her music all the time and use her songs as shadow work and meditation music for the divine feminines I assist in guiding them to their self healing ✨ I am manifesting working with this Empress in the future
The one who plants trees knowing s/he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life 🕊

At first I thought I must have clicked on a random image because for the past 2 weeks, the only thing that grounds me, brings me home to myself, has been singing ‘I am light , I am light. I am a singer-songwriter and author (book about the music industry) and hearing India speak about her process is sooo valuable to me. I super love her and am one of those who has followed her career for so long. To hear that she needs to take naps, was empowering for me because I thought it was just me! As a creative person, I can feel so zapped, especially these days in 2020. She says" She writes from her soul" and we can all feel and hear that. Thank you Lee and India for a wonderful time spent with you both.

This was such a beautiful, resonant conversation. Lee has the gift of putting guests at ease very quickly, and India responded with such heartfelt and vulnerable honesty and insight about her life and her work it was captivating. I wished you could both go on for hours, and I really hope this is a friendship that can grow, and that we can see more of the two of you together. I had just spent all morning crying like my body would break and shouting I can't do any more, I can't. And it seemed like there was nowhere to go from there. Now, I'm still very raw, but I can see India's expression of hope - whatever happens we're going to work our way towards it being who we truly are. And I can play her music, and see Lee's smile, and maybe I'll still be here tomorrow too. Bringers of light are precious.

"A re-imagining of Stevie Wonder songs" How wonderful to discover that India's fave R&B singer is mine too! I suspected so because I paused this interview as soon as I heard "Crazy Sacred Spaces" being mentioned. Took a look and heard her sing "ribbon in the sky" in the video. Loooooooovely taste as that was the song I chose for the first dance at our wedding. "As" was the tune that we left the church listening to.
There have been debates over the years about the Kings and Queens of Soul/funk/disco/R&B etc, but to me Stevie's poetry transcends such debates. He is beyond categories altogether!
Wow, I just happened to listen to this interview. I'm glad I did, because as a female artist wanting to work professionally as an actress/singer, I often talk to my friends and students about being READY for fame. After listening to this interview, boy do I ever feel extremely blessed that God didn't allow me to become well known in this business at 25!!!
India's story confirms to me that you have to be ready from the inside. The business focuses on the outside first. Like so many of the shows on television that claim to make someone a star just based on talent, really?
It is so much that goes into this industry, especially the music industry. I am proud of Ms. Arie for finding her spirtual light in spite of all the pain this has caused her. I must say honestly, her glow is on point.
You look more beautiful than ever, because you are "free" and it shows!!!
