Should You Pay for a Carnival Kitchen Class??

  • In this episode of Lauren of All Trades... Lauren takes Carnival Kitchen's "Cake Workshop" (cake decorating) class on the Carnival Celebration.
    Carnival Kitchen is an experience that is only available on Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee (and Panorama apparently) so far (although, not available to book yet on Jubilee). There are a wide range of classes and can be booked pre-cruise under Specialty Dining in your cruise Manager on carnival.com
    Classes are currently $30/person and it seems that you have to share a station with someone in the class. Mine wasn't full (even though it was sold out) so I don't know if they make you buddy up with a stranger if you don't have a friend with you already.
    This class wasn't really for me, but I can't say that it would be bad for everyone. I've heard good things about a couple of the other classes.

    absolutely its was a great way to meet fellow passengers and learn or relearn something you knew, The staff on he carnival celebration was friendly, helpful and quite knowledgeable. I enjoyed the sushi and the BBQ class. While my wife enjoyed the pasta and cake decorating classes

    Simple syrup between layers of cake is extremely common in baking. It’s definitely something worth doing.

    I've seen the sugar syrup on a lot of baking competition shows.

    Thanks for sharing! I was intrigued but wondered how hands on it was and what you could eat at the end!

      On a different cruise, we were at Alchemy bar and a lady who'd done the pie class had her pie with her. I think she said she wasn't supposed to be able to take it with her, but somehow she managed to. So I guess most of the classes don't result in getting to eat what you made.
      Seems like they are pretty hands-on though. I'll probably do another one on a future cruise!

    This must be fun! It’s the only cooking class on our ship that’s sold out (still many weeks to go) so that’s saying something

      I bet the cupcake class is pretty similar if you want to learn cake decorating skills!

    We are taking our 1st Carnival Kitchen class when we sail on the Celebration in April but we are doing the Tailgate Party class. That just sounded so different lol

      I heard great things about that one, I did the pizza class and even though I know how to make pizza I had a blast. Wanted to do the BBQ/Smoking class but it filled up when I went to book it for my husband and I. I did the pizza one on my own. Also, at least for the pizza class, I got the recipe for the dough and their sauce. It's the same recipe they use for their pizza places. Hopefully you'll get any recipes. They emailed me the pizza ones after class and you were welcome to contact the chef if you had any questions.

    On our two Mardi Gras cruises we did two cooking classes each time. On the first one we did the sushi making and barbecue.. The second cruise we did the tailgating and ice cream. The best one was actually the sushi class I felt I got more out of that one and really enjoyed eating what I made.

      Did you get to eat any of bbq/tailgating/ice cream? And did you over all think those classes were worth paying for?

      At the end of the barbecue cooking class you are taking up to guys pig and anchor and giving a tour behind the counter to see the smokers . Once you are done behind the counter you are taken into guys pig and anchor to have a seat where they will bring you out a full tray of all the different meats and sides. If you think guys pig and anchor is a good barbecue place then you will enjoy it if you have your own standards as to what good barbecue is then you may not. I felt the cooking classes were fun and reasonable for the price.

    Thanks for the content Lauren, now my only question would be... what if I book the class for my husband and I? Will they make us go to different stations (since I saw the drawing of numbers).

      No, I thought that too at first, but one person from each pair will pick a number. Thanks for watching!

    If he is making it from scratch I would get something out of it and there are those that can't cook or bake following directions. I'm going to say yes, folks can get something out of this. Especially if they have a hard time making boxed stuff.

    • @laurenofalltrades
      @laurenofalltrades  Год назад +1

      Sure. Except they kept going back and forth between batter mixing and decorating instructions so it was really confusing every time they switched gears. So I think even someone who could get something out of it didn’t because they were focused on the decorating. 🤷‍♀️

    Question? Did you have to book onboard or prior to boarding? Thanks!🎉

    • @laurenofalltrades
      @laurenofalltrades  7 месяцев назад

      I think you can book onboard but I recommend doing it pre-cruise because they can sell out. Each class is only offered once per cruise. You have to pay when you make the reservation, but you can cancel and get a full refund as long as its 48 hours before the cruise.
