- Hello dear Friends!!🌸 I have had so many questions on petunia care, I thought I would share a quick video on how I care for petunias.
1️⃣ First, watering is the most important factor in keeping your plants gorgeous. It may seem obvious, but it’s a daily commitment to keeping your plants healthy. I water daily at the same time. My favorite time to water is in the evening. If you live in a very hot area of the country you are going to have to water twice a day. Never let your plants get to a point of wilting. When I lived in Southern California, during the hot season, I had to water twice a day to keep my annuals looking gorgeous on those 100+ degree days.
2️⃣ Fertilizing is second on the list for keeping your plants beautiful. I fertilize every 3rd watering or a minimum of once a week. I personally use @ProvenWinners Premium Water Soluble Plant Food. Their fertilizer is a bit different because it has iron in it which keeps the leaves of your plants green and prevents them from turning yellow.
3️⃣ This final tip is specifically for your @ProvenWinners SuperTunias. Weekly hair cuts are a must! Just like our hair... our plants need their ends to be trimmed to keep them looking FABULOUS. I trim off any leggy blooms each week. The amazing thing about SuperTunias is that they are SELF CLEANING (game changer 🙌🏻) which means no deadheading! They are a LOW maintenance petunia! Make sure when you are trimming not to cut more than 20 - 30% of the plant.

When deadheading, pluck dead blume out together with the "cup" that holds the flower. This encourages further growth. Works for me but I am not a pro
Supertunias from Proven Winners do not need to be dead headed. I love that about them!! 🤗🌸🌿

Hi Carolyn! 🤗 The yellowing is from lack of iron. The rain is washing all the food supply out of soil for the plants. Using a fertilizer that contains iron will help with the yellowing... Proven Winners fertilizer contains iron. I have had really good success with it. Hope this helps... 🤗💗🌸

Plant in window boxes that fit in your wheelbarrow with some gravel in the base of the Wheelbarrow. Once they grow you won’t see the barrow edges or boxes!

Hi Mary Anne! Well I have one potted petunia plant that was being neglected at the local market and for a while things were great. Every week I would get these lovely red blooms but from one day to the next my petunias took a turn for the worse and are on the brink of death . What can I do to revive it back to consciousness? I saw brown spots on the leaves and used neem oil but it looks like its not getting better . Any suggestions? :)
I think a regular fertilizer schedule would have really helped this plant. Proven winners granular fertilizer is the best for Supertunias. I hope you have better success this season! 🤗🌸🌿
I am new to gardening and I have a petunia plant in a planter. It was doing really well but now I'm noticing the flowers bloom and start drying out 🥺idk what I am doing wrong. Over watering? I water once a day because it's pretty hot here. Please give some advice. I do feed it also some basic flower food I purchased at Walmart
Hmmmm… If is super hot, I would water twice a day. Is the pot draining? No standing water inside? I would definitely switch to Proven Winners fertilizer this summer. It’s an excellent fertilizer. 🤗🌸🌿

Mine did really well for about two months they started shriveling up and died any ideas what I did wrong

Hi, can I add this fertilizer for Begonias and heucheras???
I use it on my Begonias. When watering my Supertunias in the ground my Heucheras get a dose as well. I haven’t seen any bad results from it… 🤗🌸🌿

Hello! I have the bubblegum and silver berry.. they havent been blooming at all. I gave them miracle grow bloom booster and they seem to be picking back up buy slowwwwly. Mine are still young, they havent creeped over the edge of the pot yet. How long does it generally take to grow into the size of your beautiful petunias?
Hi there! 🤗It will take all summer. I would definitely recommend you switch to Proven Winners fertilizer. It’s the best for Supertunias. It’s the only fertilizer with iron in it that they need for growth. I would fertilize weekly if you can. Mine currently are in the same state… they will take off and explode, it just takes a little patience. I hope this helps a little… 🤗🌸🌿
@@graceinthisspace hey Grace, thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I wish I could use Proven Winners but I cant bring it to Panama without getting into some trouble I believe. We dont get it here in my country unfortunately. I will have to research the other available products to see what contains a higher level of iron. Are you familiar with carrying for dwarf hydrangea macrophyllas? I have a couple that are doing great, but one is having some issues I am trying to resolve…

@@graceinthisspace the blooms are tiny now and are wilting brown before they even open up.. the leaves are looking curled on the edges and burned. They dont get direct sun or watered from above.
@@priscilla6440 It sounds like lack of water to me? Is it dry there. Hydrangeas get their name from Hydro.. meaning they need a lot of water.
Does your cutting petunias can be planted again?
Unfortunately, no. Once I cut them... they are put into the compost bin. 🌸
Is miracle grow fertilizer good for supertunias?
I would use Proven Winners fertilizer. I personally think its better than Miracle Gro fertilizer. 🤗🌸🌿

Hi Shelia, It's about 24". I have 9 Supertunias and 1 Fountain Grass. 3 Supertunia Vista Bubblegum, 3 Supertunia Silverberries and 3 Supertunia Visa Paradises. I hope this helps! 🤗💗🌸

@@sheila5621 That is an old wheelbarrow. There is about 9 Supertunias in the wheelbarrow too. There are only two varieties... Bordeaux and Paradise. Hope this helps! 🤗
My petunias have just been sitting for a month doing nothing but at least they are alive.

My petunias are not doing well! There are little green bugs on them and are dying :(
You can try spraying them with BT or an insecticidal soap. Spray late in the evening after most pollinators have gone to bed because it can kill beneficial bugs too so spraying when insect activity is low is best. Also the sun is going down so the low light prevents any burn.
They are probably BudWorms. I have been using Safer Soap this season and have had good results. It works as a fertilizer as well. 🤗🌸🌿
Should we water petunias regularly?
Yes! They definitely need to be on a watering schedule. I water mine here in Michigan daily. 🤗🌸💗
@@graceinthisspace I've been hearing here on other youtube channels that rain kills petunia. Yours are outdoors and they look fine, actually yours look really beautiful. So have you had any issues with your Petunias when it rains?
From Ireland, yes, every 2nd NIGHT when sun doesnt absorb moisture so quickly. Am not a pro but trial and error have learnt. Water every other night but feed once a month with capful of tomato feed to one litre water for each plant. You might have to increase this but start minimally. Flowers will just thrive after feeding
PETUNIAS LOVE WATER
I purchased 3 bubble gum petunia's, hanging baskets, from Stutsman's' green house, the guy said dead head them, the tag on the baskets when I got home and read it said "don't dead head them" who is right please?
Supertunias don’t need to be dead headed. They are self cleaning… Hope this helps!🤗🌸🌿
Bad filming. show the fertilizer, show the pruning and don't film with portrait mode. It just cuts off everything. Use landscape.
