Can someone tell me why their longboards look smaller in width? Those boards look anywhere from 8.5 to 9.25. Is it because they need their feet to heel/toe carve without actually lifting their feet? My board is 9.75 and I'am a size 10, and I need to lift my feet in order to get a really good carve.
Jon Joe Most of the pro’s nowadays are riding 9-9.5” wide decks (often tapering to 8.5-9” in the back) with lengths 30-35” and wheelbases 22-26”. Rogue brought out slalom trucks with like 120mm hangars which, with the super wide wheels like Venom Magnums, bring the track width to the same as the deck width. In a more direct answer to your question - that’s exactly why. Trucks and bushings are good enough these days to ride smaller set ups to get more manoeuvrability without sacrificing stability. I’m riding a 9.75 with size 9s and find the same as you. Once I save up and get Rogue trucks I’ll cut down the edges of my deck so it’s only like 9.2 or thereabouts.
