Should be the same as the English league 2. Bottom 2 clubs go into the national league and 2 come up, so at least there's an opportunity every single season for clubs to get back. The English football league took a long time to agree to it but came round eventually, the Scottish football league should do the same.
What a cracking little stadium. You can see that they take pride in the place. And Scottish lower league pies look ten times better than those sold in in the English premier league.
Just wanted you to know how much I love these videos! Especially getting to hear from the folks who work for the club, play for the cub, fans of the club, and even sometimes announcers of the game. Truly unrivaled perspective shown Huge shouts from a fan from the USA love you shining a light on the good the bad and the ugly of Scottish Soccer (football i had too)
It's football, that's why. The upper reaches of things like the English Premier League have as much to do with football as I have to do with governing Kazakhstan.
One of Forfar's most famous games was against Stranraer. It was in 1984 when Forfar clinches the bottom league title and promotion for the first time in their history wining 5-3. Quite a number of us travelled up from Dundee to support Forfar that day.

Stranraer chairman says " you have to feel for East Kilbride who put a lot of effort into getting into that position." Only to find themselves playing against a team who didn't . That's not fair.
I have good memories of doing a mini stadium tour in the East of Scotland in 1991. A mate and I went to Forfar and we were shown round the ground by the chairman. We wen into the boardroom, in the stand and on the pitch. The ground doesn't look like it has changed in the 33 years since I visited and that is quite comforting in a away. I love a ground with an open terrace. He was so accommodating. I always look out for Forfar results because of this. I hope they pull away from the bottom.
100% need to open up the pyramid. Its a joke after winning a lge you need to play a playoff against a champion from another lge then another playoff against the bottom team from another lge.
Forfar has THREE teams competing for support - Athletic the main one obviously but also West End and Forfar United. That is madness. Looking at some of the strange names competing in the Junior Cup at the weekend, Keith, population 4,600 have a junior team as well as Keith FC and Inverurie has two sides as does Forres and Lossiemouth. I usually don't agree with those who say we have too many clubs in Scotland but come on, these places should just have the one side to support.
I visited Forfar - East Stirlingshire om a cold saturday in February 2008. In the away end, all the way from the Netherlands. It is to this day the most lower league I have ever seen. Shire lost, 1-0
Reduce the SPL into 3 Divisions, with 18 teams in each div and every team plays each other only twice a season - promote the top H & L teams into the "third" div to make up the 18. The bottom 3 in the top and second tier are automatically relegated - the Top 2 in the lower divs go up automatically - the next 4 go into the playoffs. The bottom 2 in the 3rd tier go automatically down, replaced by H&L champions, while the next 2 go into playoffs with runners up in H & L Divs. Restructuring the non league with a similar format will reward the ambitious teams - and punish the mediocre who have been protected by the current almost fenced off structure. Long story short, if you finish in the Bottom 3 (or 2) - you go straight down with no playoffs to save you. I'm not Scottish so maybe I'm off the mark, but surely anything is better than the current league structure.
Idea: Lowland Champion plays the Highland Champion, and the winner is promoted in place of 10th from League 2. The loser lf that play off then plays 9th in League 2, with the winner of that game playing in League 2 the next season and the loser playing in tier 5.
There is no analogy with England. If Stranraer stank the place out in England like they did they would automatically go down. A steak pie in Forfar, no Bridie's left ?
The pyramid system is a joke, league clubs voted to make it hard to get into the league, so can’t really complain that they can’t get back in, however bottom 2 should be relegated and lowland/ highland champions should get automatic promotion
@@gordon1545 Take a cue from the English National League North/South and the tiers below. Occasional shuffle of sides. Occasional side that is an outlier of being far further North/South than others. A price worth paying for a more open pyramid I think.
Please go Nairn county and Nairn st ninian.😮 i think Forfar athletic in Scottish League two will be okay and they will stay up. Yea, stranraer were unfortunate to be bottom last season and good they stayed up. stranraer are the third oldest Scottish club! i think it will be Clyde or possibly Edinburgh city Last place. My prediction is Clyde fc bottom.😅 11:05 a wee carlo ancelotti.. “not the best”, he did not panic. A calm reaction to going a goal down. Forfar do not want to do a Brechin city..
Who will finish bottom of League 2 this season?
Clyde. This for them to go..😮
Sorry Clyde fc fans.😅
Forfar Athletic
Stranraer and it gives me no great pleasure to say that.

Yet another wonderful exploration of the Scottish lower leagues. Small teams with big places in their fans hearts.

Missed having a Forfar bridie, criminal 😂
I feel sad for Forfar Athletic to be in a precarious position but I hope to see them bouncing back sooner rather than later, good friends!!!🙏
Cheers Depek! Hope you're good!!!
Sorry Celtic (and Man City/Arsenal) but this video is so much more fun. Thanks for sharing it (and travelling to make it).
Arsenal and city? You joking mate? Those clubs have fuck all for a fan base

You have come along way since your early vids. The fine reputation you have built up is helping you gain behind the scenes access. Well done, sir.
Your comments about the ridiculous situation of promo/relego are absolutely bang on. Cheers1

Cracking to meet you again. Great wee vid. Poor performance from Stranraer.
Really like this channel. I must say you have educated me. Always look out for Elgin City's results....as I used to work for the manager up there
Loved an away day at Forfar.. Hope they stay up

I once visited station park for a cup tie against Celtic back in the 90’s. Hasn’t changed much. Keep the videos coming Sam. Brilliant mate ✌️😎
What a lovely ground. Great video BTW 👍
When I saw the title I thought you'd be down at Carlisle. Not too far a trip for you either. 👍😁

Just make 18 team leagues from the championship down with open relegation and promotion. 10 team leagues isn’t done anywhere else yet.
Should have an 18 team premiership. 34 matches, no split. Then two 14-18 team tiers below that with open promotion/relegation
@@eifelkreutzno chance Sky want and demand 4 Celtic Rangers games. That's the way it is
@@shaunward6996it's because our hierarchy of the leagues are shitebags with no commitment to a challenge to better our game.

Interesting to see the different opinions on the pyramid. I agree something needs to be done though, at least both champions up from the lower leagues

Mousehole FC in Cornwall is in a lovely rural setting, and close to the sea
Did you seriously just go to Forfar and not have a bridie!! Rookie error...!
I like the look of that old school ground I didn’t know Forfar could hold over 7000
Played Hibs in Scottish cup last season and sold out. Was cracking with full terraces.
An Angus Derby Promotion Play-Off on the cards 🤔

That's a canny ground. Best to Forfar

How dare you forget Forfar West End! Forfar has a population of about 16,000 and yet has three pyramid clubs.
