local natives is the best band ever. they create the most complex, beautiful, meaningful songs yet never take themselves too seriously. not what i would have expected at all for a video for this song either, but it's hilarious and i appreciate the sense of humor that they have
I saw these guys at the first Unitarian church in Philly like 10+ years ago. They were opening for a band my friends and I wanted to see. But these dudes stole the show. It was intense
#danthemanplaylists LYRICS: Oh some evil spirit, Oh some evil this way comes. They told me how they fear it, Now they're placing it on their tongues. Oh to see it with my own eyes. Oh to see it with my own eyes. No food or water, For the better part of ten months. Quietly he sat, Between the folds of a tree trunk. Oh to see it with my own eyes. Oh to see it with my own eyes. All the men of faith, And men of science, have their questions. Could it ever be on Earth, As it is in heaven? Oh to see it with my own eyes. Oh to see it with my own eyes.
+Le Dan Theman Playlists Earth could be like Heaven is every single people showed perfect love to every single person. with charity blessing nocursing and if there were no sickness or death or famine or destruction.
Amazing. Revelation and great peace right here. Video is just a grain of sand compared to the collective infinite wisdom of all the sands of the earth. Spirit is forever transcending and moving with the most brilliant white warm light we all are. Some are aware and others will be...
I think this video might relate to the lyrics Think of the shark as depression it makes you paranoid (constant looking behind him ruins relationships and interferes with sex life (with the woman) takes away your friends (shark handing beer over to mates) cant run away from it (shark appearing everywhere) no weapon can be used against it (penknife thrown to floor) and with enough own strength you can destroy it. The koala bear I can't explain
I think you're 100% right. I think the koala bear is how a lot of the time you can't beat depression. You can win in some fights (like with the shark). But depression has the habit of coming back eventually. So the koala bear is it coming back
For the people complaining in the comment section I agree with you guys this video does not do the song justice at all. But nonetheless local natives are a great band they create complex, beautiful, meaningful songs yet never take themselves to seriously
At first I thought the video was about letting fear, personified by a shark, run your life, but then facing it and defeating it. Then I saw the koala at the end...
I always listen to it from Japan. For some reason, I think this song is more suitable for traveling in cloudy skies than on sunny days. I want to go to their live someday!
The drumming in this song has always stood out to me. Feel like it showed up on some minor TV show somewhere. Can't remember if that was before or after I heard it. But the drumming is what grabbed me immediately. Great song still
Fell in love with this band from the moment I heard this song .. still years and they keep releasing amazing music.. why tho can't they have 100k plus followers? This is real music .. please thumbs up if you agree this band needs way more respect and to be more known
I've loved this ever since it came out in 2009. I feel like I can relate to it. Beautiful song and they certainly don't make music, even alternative, like this anymore.
I feel like I've stumbled across a hidden treasure. I don't know how I landed here, but I don't want to leave. What beautiful music - I can feel it pulsating through every cell in my body. Wicked cool...wicked fucking cool.
Or both in equal amount will suffice (LN's & Foals)...both fantastic! Seeing Local Natives live tomorrow night for first time. But I've seen 20-25+ live concerts so far this year, and Foals is bar none the best live performance I've seen this year. Cheers!
Pdog Centra To each his own I suppose... "Foals are recognized as one of the top UK live acts, having won the 2013 Q Award for Best Live Act and twice being nominated for the NME Award for Best Live Act (2011 and 2013)"
I finally found this song after working at Chipotle for almost a year and a half. lol Who knew that there was a "jukebox" thing in the back that showed what the song was called and who sang it. lol
I see people saying they were searching wide and far for this and I'm like, thanks Pandora! Tip: If you don't know the name of a song but you know some of the words, just search the bulk lyrics you do know. Works for me!
favorite song since Voltas last album Love these guys im from az but play n sing in Cali so I could tell the video locations ... A few anyways Can't wait to see you all live again
I took the video as.. Rather than running from your fears, you should face them.. No matter how hurt or injured you are.. Physically or mentally.. And when everything feels better there are always more problems around the corner.. Be a man against the evils..
love this song, beautiful guitar and interesting lyrics, love the journey on discovering what the lyrics meant, i found out about "Budda boy" - highly recommend ppl watch this amazing documentary about this beautiful soul and his journey towards enlightenment and world peace, "no food or water for the better part of 10 months", " quietly sat between the folds of a tree trunk", whether the song is about Dharma sanga or not, still love the song, thanks guys, amazing piece of work :D
This is probably the second best Local Natives song in my opnion, I think You & I is just amazing! Anyone that likes this song should check out You & I immediately!(:
Idk this video just brings back memories of going to the pool when we were kids and we would play a game and act like their was sharks in the deep end, we feared it. Even now I always imagine a shark in the deep end of a pool. And then there was the one where you threw a coin in the pool and watched it drop to the bottom and diving to the bottom to see who gets it first. When he snaps to and gets the beer out the cooler it brings you back to reality. We are no longer kids. It was so innocent and free. Idk of it's just me? Did anyone else ever play these games. Maybe I'm thinking too deep. No pun intended.
most underrated band of all time
Keep it that way, mainstream turned musicians often dissapoint us

Sebastian Darmawan I showed my buddy 1957 by Milo Greene and he showed me this. So you might be into that song.
Reminds me of the group "Little Comets" sound.

Definitely my favorite song from Local Natives. They're also really good to see live.
10 years later, I'm still here
For those who don't understand: it's better to face your fears than run from them.
It's saying there'll always be SOMEthing.
Idk people didn't seem to happy when I pushed the clown on my cousin's party
I've listened to this song about 100 times since I discovered it a few days ago.. and every time I feel like I'm in a dream.

Once again they repeat four whole chords over and over. What talent!!!

The guitar gives me goosebumps every time I listen to this song! :)
This video does this song no justice.
At first I thought the video was about letting fear, personified by a shark, run your life, but then facing it and defeating it. Then I saw the koala at the end...

What an amazing song from an incredible band. I like how quarky this video is. Not everything has to be so artsy and cold.
My new obsession, love you guys. Finally some real emotion out there!
Every track on this album is pure gold.

Man, I have heard this song on Pandora a hundred times and I always thought it was Foals! Well, cool. New band to check out.
Seriously, do yourself the greatest favor of all-time and listen to this band! You definitely won't regret it!

Foals is pretty terrible, had to sit through a set at a music festival &a it was miserable
Pdog Centra To each his own I suppose...

Pdog Centra You don't have to sit through anything at a music festival. Just do what you want, go to whatever you want, and enjoy it.
Men this is such a masterpiece!!
The intro, mends my soul every time I press replay.

Love the song. The vocal harmony reminds me of another band that I used to like but I can't quite place it. Minus the Bear maybe? Hmm
