You know what’s insane to think about? Back in mid evil times arrows were shot in large battles by the millions. Every single one was crafted similarly to this. All the focus, time and effort into a single arrow.
It was a job. Just like sitting behind the wheel of a truck for 8hrs or serving food in a cafeteria etc. Fletchers was a trade! And its not mid evil but medieval times.
It was truly an industry. English people paid taxes of goose feathers to the crown to craft arrows specifically. They also were not very high quality. They were the standard issue service ammo of their day, but they did the job well despite being cheap.
That's kinda the thing about homemade arrows, they're never perfect. They are a sort of "ongoing project" that requires further shaving down, shortening and sometimes just scrapping one altogether. After you've shot them a few times you'll know which is which and which arrows are "good to go".
The days spent making our own bows and arrows are far and few. Nowadays it’s all about who got the fastest and fanciest bow which ridiculously cost us a mortgage to invest in one but in the end both the traditional archers and the modern hunters enjoy hunting the same games. The only difference is the traditional archers will have more money spent on his family than the modern hunters who still paying off the debt on their equipments. It’s wonderful to see the tradition lives on.😊
Hey! A fellow arromaker here. You can actually pull the feather apart with your bare hand causing the fletchings to be only held together by a paper thin yet super strong membrane. This lets me turn 3 feathers into 3 fletchings withing less then a minute. It takrs a bit of practice but it's teally worth it if you intent on makning more arrows.
Make sure to double check that they’re legal in your area. In the US you can’t legally use the feathers of non game species (unless you have a tribal permit.) Just warning you because the fines are hefty
OOOOH BOY!!! THAT'S WHY THE LORD SAID YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOUR ENEMY!!!! I mean, to shoot him with such an elaborated and beautiful creation, definitely you MUST love him!
These are very English style arrows, pitch was used as glue and reinforced with silk thread, and tips were absolutely glued on as soon as man knew how to work with metal.

It looks better when you see the all shot from the starting to the target.

Но только с трех метров. Могу сказать как арбалетчик со стажем . стрелы это как скрипка Страдивари. С ними даже нужно рядом спать.
There's nothing better than shooting and hunting natural. Very nice
Beautiful arrows man that’s impressive

The ancient medieval technique of the Hot Glue Gun.
Obviously this is modern hot melt glue, but hot melt glue use on arrows goes back thousands of years
