Wow. I just wanted to say thanks! I'm an amateur with no prior experience. I've been teaching myself php and mysql in hopes of improving our website for teachers. It's taken me about 30 days to understand php. Your tutorial covered so many different concepts that I was really able to fill in some gaps and really begin to understand how php works with the server and throughout our newly designed dynamic website! Although I used a slightly different syntax, I was able to get it! Thank you very much for your awesome resource. For others who are just starting out, I would recommend this video only after you have the basics about how to get and process data from your database. This tutorial would be slightly difficult for someone (like me) who was just starting out trying to transform their static website into a truly interactive one. Thanks again, I love RUclips.
You sir, are a genius! I have been trying to create a simple star rating for the last five days but failing, after seeing this I managed to create and integrate with jQuery to give the visual 5 Star rating image also... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I am curious to know how you could count the number of ratings in the "group by" and then return a total that could be displayed as total number of ratings.
What is the major difference between this practice to access a SQL database and the one shown in the CMS tutorial? Is one of them particularly recommendable?
Hi Alex! I run into an issue with this tutorial. I looked through the code and I can't see the problem why I cannot INSERT INTO my database the rating. I can read the titles and all, but I cannot insert. Any idea why I have this problem? I have not recieved any syntax error messages and no errors from MySQL.

imani Felps Please dispose of those two tools. You'll need a text editor and perhaps a stack like XAMPP to get started. Check out our basics videos for more information.
