Are all the bulbs the same, or how do you know what kind of bulb is to replace what failing lamp? Great video, I would feel confident to do this job from this video, where as many others I've looked at leave me with doubts and questions. Thank you.
I label all all areas with the number where the light bulbs locate in the back. If the backlight area is dark and there is no number near it then it will not have a socket for the light bulb to fit in to.
Hey true renegade, love your video's.very detailed and informative. I have an odyssey '04 and have an issue with the "D" light on the dash and hoping you can give me some insight into the problem. When the vehicle is moving in drive and I accelerate the light dims and when I release my foot off the accelerator the light brightens again. There is no "check engine " light or "tcs" light illuminated so therefore will not come up on the scanner I used. Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated.
I have not see this problem on my ODY yet. But in your case, I check the battery terminal to make sure it clean and a good ground, alternator belt is tight. Put a volt meter on the battery and start the engine. It should charge around 14 volts. Then turn on the AC and head light, and the voltage should drop quickly and go back to and stay around 14 volts (you may have to give a little gas to get it to go back up). This test indicated that your alternator compensated for the AC and light you just turn on. If it fall below 14 volts even when you give it a little gas then you may have a bad alternator. In my early days as a mechanic, some alternator fail in high RPM and it;s a headache to trouble shoot; It's always easier if the part fail then almost or about to fail. For Honda, they put a Electric Load Detection (ELD) in the fuse box under the hood. Usually, you will get battery light or instrument panel flickering with trouble code P1298 (search for ELD or P1298 on youtube) as this may be the early symptom of ELD failure. If the alternator check out good and you able to drive without any problem other then the problem you mention. I would leave it for now until the check engine light come on. This will tell you exactly what part to replace. Good Luck !!!
I would check for a loose ground straps connection first. Take it out, wire brush the surface, then bolt it back tight. This fixed my head lights flickering problem.
I have a question. On mine its the actual screen itself that i cant see at night. Is there a bulb for the screen display itself or is this just a horrible design with no light in the screen?
Learned a lot about the 2004 Odyssey from your videos. Great job! I don't have any light for the entire lower control panel. Is the a fuse somewhere? Where do I start to look? Thanks!
@@truerenegade1095 Thank you!! I have trouble with the climate control light. I have changed out this mini light twice but each time they only lasted for a week or so. I don't drive much in the night that often so there must be something causing it to short out premarturely. I checked again other lower panel lights work. I used part 79673-S84-A42 for the climate control light. Your video is very detail. Thanks again!!
@@millpepper2012 1. Try to dim the intensity of the light bulbs. There is a button on the left side under the RPM gauge, turn it left or right to dim your instrument panel light. 2. Check your alternator for overcharge condition. Normal charging is 14.5 volts. You can take your car to auto part place like Autozone and they can check it out for you free. 3. Next time you change those bulbs, check to see if they are loose. Use contact cleaner or alcohol and swipe it on the area where the bulbs screw in. Make sure they screw in tight. Good luck!!!
I don't think they make aftermarket for these buld. You can try buy a bulb from radio shack, but you have to reuse the socket and the bulb is not as bright as the OEM.
Excellent how to video, thank you and thanks for listing the bulbs needed for each cluster.

This is a great help. All my button backlights are fine. The main climate display has no backlight. Is there a separate bulb for the display?

Hi true renegado....thaks for the información but..in what store i can to get all tese light bulbs ....thank you

Awesome video! Did you say you put some information in the description? It’s probably me but I don’t see it?
The description listed all the OEM parts # in this video and links to Honda websites where you can buy them.
@@davevalinty4293 I also organized my videos collection so check it out.
Okayh.
