Watching someone else do a bookshelf rearrangement is way more chill and soothing than the pure stress of doing it yourself, lol. Love the end result, you have such a beautiful collection!! 😍
Todd here. Nice tour Tori! My goals every year are to read 24 books a year so around 2 books a month. I'm hopeing to get to The Blood Stones in 2024! Happy New Year book lovers!
Lol you make me want to rearrange my bookshelves! Have to admit, as an indie author, it’s always nice to see our books beside The Big Names. Reminds me we’re all on the same journey as authors. ❤️
Love this video! This definitely makes me want to read my shelves, too! Ironically, most of my reading over the last few years are library books, so no representation on my shelves. You have definitely inspired me to make sure I have read what I have! (And helping me fight off the strong start of the year FOMO vibes!) Thanks for sharing!
Library books are a great way to save your shelves too! I intentionally got some library books this past few weeks as well. I don't utilize it enough! We bought or were gifted those books for a reason, they deserve our love and attention!
Oh Mylanta. ...several years later... Wowsers. I literally have zero fantasy books on my shelves that I haven't read. You have so many amazing books right there waiting for you!!! 3 OH 8!
That’s an awesome goal! I hadn’t bought books for years until 2020 when I discovered Malazan and Sanderson. Currently I have 63 unread books on my shelves, so majority is read. I can’t finish all those this year, but will likely get half of that done and then intersperse library reads too. Also I’m terrible because my shelves are organized by how I feel about the books. Most favorite are on the eye line shelves 😊
😊 I know the feeling only too well, Tori. In the last 20 months, having had to move 5x, I went through my collection and decided to streamline it to books I’ve loved, am collecting, or intend to actually read. All the rest was given away - about a third. I still have around 12 full bookcases and I also want to read more from them. My way to try curbing purchase is to only buy what I intend on reading right now… Doesn’t always work 🤣
Love this video, Tori! My book collection has also gotten a bit out of hand and like you, Tori, I am limiting my book purchasing in 2024 and will be trying to read as many of my already owned books as possible. Hoping to do a bit more downsizing as well.
I completely understand what you mean about reading your owned books. I don't have many physical books, but my Kindle is loaded. I'm also reading my bookshelves this year, except for a few anticipated releases. Fortunately, I did get Blood Stones before I decided to cut back on new purchases. 😅
Hey Deanna! Great to hear from you! My Kindle is loaded too, that's a bookshelf in itself, right? Thank you for getting The Blood Stones! I hope you enjoy the read. I sent you a message on Discord a while back, did you see it?
"I'm going to read what I've got & buy fewer books." I'll believe that when I see it. Let's talk again in a year. 😜 Wow, the everything vs what you've read view is sobering. 😳 But it's pretty cool the snap your fingers powers you've got.
See but if you make it a challenge I’m way more likely to actually do it 😂 Allen told me I couldn’t make it through all of April without buying a book. I went a month and a half just to prove my point. 🤣
I have a much higher count of unread to read as well. But that is because if i.have read something and i dont think i will ever read it again, i unhaul it to make more room for books
I am hoping to read more of my shelves as well. I spent this year collecting series and only got to 5 of them (completed ones at least) and have about a dozen more I didnt get to. I want to make sure that I enjoy/love book 1 before buying the whole series too.
I'm definitely the same way! I have a lot of book ones on my shelves. 5 completed series in a year is nothing to sneeze at, that's great progress! Here's to another year of reading more of our shelves. :)
It's always fun to have a reorganise. I enjoyed the tour, it's good to have a nosy at other people's bookshelves. I noticed you had Taliesin (book one of the Pendragon cycle) by Stephen Lawhead. Was this one you have read? I read the series a long time ago and remember enjoying it.
I have a complaint, I was about to sit and read when this came in my feed and I was forced to put my book aside to watch :P Also this was too fun not to watch :P always love your creative content
I sincerely apologize for interrupting your reading time! But only sort of. I'm also glad that you enjoyed the video. XD I'm determined to keep myself accountable this year! It's so tough, but worth it.
I've been reading through my shelves (minus classics) for a few years now. I had over 300 unread books and with unhauling and reading using some booktuber read your shelf challenges I'm down to less than 55 nonclassic books. (It probably would have been even less if I had not used the library some but I try to only do that for buddy reads or group reads and I'm not sure if I'll like the book. You got this!! It's a satisfying feeling seeing that number go down.
That's AMAZING, Penny! What an inspiration. That definitely sounds like an amazing feeling, thank you for sharing it with me. I can't wait to catch up to you!
So cool that you have some Stephen Lawhead books!! Maybe one of the most criminally underrated fantasy authors. You should totally read his Pendragon Cycle!!!
I enjoyed the tour - we have a lot of similar picks. I'm sure your percentage is better then mine, but your a brave woman to catalogue it all. I want to buy much less and read a solid chuck of my daunting library in 2024. My goal is a fairly concentrated combo of Will and Ariel Durant Story of Civilization (11 books that aren't even taking physical space, but I really want to read) as well as the various landmark ancient mythology I've accumulated. _Maybe some philosophy basics on the way._ I think I'll feel better about reading SFF that draws from both, like Gaiman or Kay, when I'm better grounded in our own world. I figure I can lighten this process by intermixing good portion of the middle grade books - they take a lot of library space, but shouldn't add to the mental strain. There's a few series I want to finish before starting that though, such as reread the _whole of Middle Earth saga!_ (appropriate since it's "prehistory") Hopefully I'll keep this ball rolling all the way up this hill of milestones and don't over complicate it. Good luck and fun enlightenment to us all.

I agree. That’s why I split it into two days. I was exhausted 😂 but I’m glad you enjoyed it!

That’s a solid goal. Thanks for watching, Todd, and Happy New Year!
Great video Tori! That was quite the project. I believe in you, and I’m sending positive vibes for tackling books in 2024. 😊
Thanks Chas! It was a crazy project 🫠 but we did it!

I aspire to your level of restraint in your book purchasing, Brian.
I have a friend who says "oh mylanta" too and I thought she was the only one! XD

I think shelves should make you feel happy when you look at them, whatever the organization looks like 🤘🏻Nice stats for your unread, that’s great!
Yay!! This was a blast. I love book tours, and enjoyed that you shared the progress.
It was fun! I enjoyed being able to vlog the process. That helped.

It’s hard! But it sounds like you’re working towards a process that does well for you. Moving definitely makes you less attached to your possessions 😂

You got this! Here’s to a wonderful 2024 of reading the awesome books we own.

I love this. I am planning on reading my shelves for the most part.
Awesome! I hope it's an awesome year for you!
@@ToriTalks2 thank you
I am entertained
Excellent. XD
I have a much higher count of unread to read as well. But that is because if i.have read something and i dont think i will ever read it again, i unhaul it to make more room for books
I'm the same way, Emily! So I definitely am taking that into consideration. I unhaul every book I read and don't enjoy.
Wow what an undertaking! Not sure I am brave enough to do this🤣
I just sort of did it before my brain could convince me it was a bad idea XD

Haven’t watched yet, but just had to say: bwahhahhahah! That thumbnail! 😆😆😆
I was rather pleased with it XD
Awesome video Tori …. I really don’t want to know how many books own that I haven’t read 😬😬😬
Lol it was honestly so liberating to see it now, because it gives me a better idea of my goal and what I need to get through!
It's always fun to have a reorganise.

I haven’t yet! I read The Paradise War years ago by him, but I have yet to continue with his work.
@@ToriTalks2 The Song of Albion was one of my favourite trilogies. I really enjoyed it.

@@ToriTalks2 It's definitely nice to look at your bookshelves and see friends looking back at you after you heard their stories :)
6:26 I'm only this far, but I found happiness with putting all of my read books by genre then alpha author on one shelf/ in one area.

I read Paradise War a long time ago and never continued the series! I may pick it back up sometime.
@@ToriTalks2 I read Taliesin by Lawhead earlier this year and thought it was fantastic. And really it’s pretty innovative for fantasy of its time!
I connect with this video on such a deep level 😂 #ADHD brains for the win!

Thank you & ditto @@ToriTalks2 !
I always plan to read my shelves, and I do better each year but I get so distracted by new shinny or FOMO
It's SO tough!
So my unread is similar but my read to unread ratio is much better
Ok overachiever XD
😬such a great problem to have. 😅

Too many books? XD It's a blessing and a curse.
It’s always strange to learn that booktubers have legs 😂😂🤣
RIGHT?
