My thoughts, too, after their excuse that there was no disclosure of any accidents. I ended up on a site for car auctions of wrecked cars when I was googling info about my vehicle. I’m in the automotive industry for more than 40 years working and owning body shops in mechanical repair and I can tell you for a fact Rent-A-Car companies seek out the cheapest body shops for repair. Because Rent-A-Car companies demand cheaper labor rates margins too low to make a decent profit on so they cut corners anywhere they can. To work, they have to source and make very shady decisions on what quality parts they’re going to use, and if something is buried that they can hide that nobody can see they will attempt to not repair it or questionable repair procedures to turn a profit . There are many used car dealers who work with body shop to get Rent-A-Car. They have a financial benefit with each other to work with each other to turn out the cheapest repairs and cut corners, intentionally so both parties can profit.
EVEN new vehicles are dangerous, HOW MANY RECALLS have we seen about such, LOL my wife when she rides passenger always pulls her seat FORWARD when NOT necessary, I've told her for years about the danger
Yes, my barely 2 yr Ni$$an has a big tie rod recall (2-3 day fix, no courtesy vehicle), saying if my steering wheel starts shaking... stop immediately and get it towed to the dealer. WTF?
I am not sure about all cars with air bags, but mine can be disengaged, when recovering from open heart surgery, they told me to disengage the air bags.

She has a 4 year old son and she is a single mom that works two jobs I can't in a million years imagine the pain this family is going through and I send my prayers and love. If anyone reads this and they know how to check please let me know.
So how do we avoid this ? Buy only brand new cars from dealerships ? Do the car faxes before purchasing? Pls comment below for the younger generation that doesn’t have proper guidance on stuff like this. Rest in peace to this beautiful mother this breaks my heart. All she wanted was a safe vehicle to get her children from point A to point B and to make it to work to take care & provide for her children. Been there !! This is so sad!!
Yep, look up the vehicle on carfax and/or autocheck if either show it's been in any accidents even minor ones move on to a different vehicle. Even if those checkout because things are not always documented, it never hurts to take the vehicle to a mechanic prior to buying it and have them look it over for any signs of previous accidents and other major issues.
@@theichione1827My 95 S10 was a rebuilt total from a salvaged title. Everything functioned and it drove straight as an arrow. Best $1800 and bought off someone face to face. I don't really trust or care for carfax or KBB but be careful around wrecked cars. You just have to learn how things work around you. RUclips instead of Netflix! I've learned how to work on cars, sew clothing and rebuild all kinds of things in only three years. Sometimes it's safer to buy a 90s truck with OEM parts than it is to buy that "affordable" 2017 rebuilt sitting in the lot. Weld locations and type can even make the difference between life and death. Rebuilding frame damage, buckling is serious work. You can pull a frame yourself if you follow the books, but there's a LOT of other stuff that goes into doing it safely and when you even can. Don't buy temu airbags lol I don't trust dealerships at all. I'd much rather learn and become self sufficient as possible. Honestly parts quality in General is going downhill.
Checking authenticity of airbags is NOT part of any check by the dealership before selling. People want cheap, but complain when shortcuts or cheaper parts are used. Anytime you see an accident reported, you have to use your own judgment and take that into account before buying. If airbags were deployed, you have to take it upon yourself to check yourself or have it check professionally. Dont rely on the dealer.
1. Car was improperly and fraudulently repaired after a major accident. 2. Driver/victim likely was at fault for the accident. What cause the driver to fail to stop in time? Inattention? Poor maintenance of vehicle? 3. Car was bought with a wrecked history. This wasn’t an accident. It was a series of bad choices that lead to a death. The outcome was tragic and avoidable. Just one different decision in the chain of decisions could’ve changed the outcome.
Lol, my 95 S10 was a rebuilt total from a salvaged title. Rebuilt old enough to use OEM parts. Never had any problems with it. Use OEM airbags so you can sue if something goes wrong.
Went to a crystal dodge dealership here in Hernando County for an airbag recall/repair in a dodge ram I used to own. The "technician" DISABLED MY HORN, and every time I put my blinkers on along with the windshield wipers, they BOTH WOULDN'T WORK AT THE SAME TIME. Went in to have THEM FIX THEY'RE FUCK UP with the HORN AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT and that SOMEHOW SOMEWAY I DISASSEMBLED MY OWN STEERING COLUMN AND MESSED THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TOO!! ......when her Chevy struck a car stopped at a traffic signal. As she was driving, how did she hit a vehicle that was at a complete stop? I'm going assume it was faulty brakes because that would be just as, if not more important to mention than the airbag. She wouldn't have happened to have been distracted by something? Something like a phone perhaps?
Car had an accident with enterprise Sent it to auction Jumbo bought the vehicle did the body repair replaced the airbag probably sent it back to auction (maybe) and DriveTime purchased it. That’s what I think because I worked at some sketchy spots.
I was in accident and my airbag broke my sternum. My airbags stayed completely intact, they did not look rags like her did. It is impossible to tell if your airbags have been replaced most times because the car will have been sold several times. Always run a carfax before buying used. Many places are now selling salvaged titles. Be careful out there. Do not trust even the best dealership. Have the car checked by a certified mechanic right away. By the way most insurance companies will total a car if the air bags deployed just because of this. They did that to my car and I will bet someone bought it, fixed and sold it. My car was still running after being slammed into a brick wall (not my fault other driver rear ended me)
Airbags have been killing and crippling people for decades. First kids that are now forced to backseats because they couldn't rectify the design flaws...then the Takata bags that just blew up even while parked if humidity got into the system...and of course, any replacement is likely a death trap as well. The entire 1980s design concept was flawed, but governments NEVER admit mistakes
I think it's because the boards weren't potted or sealed because they didn't anticipate this occurring in a cars lifespan lol I have 30 year old cars with speedometer PCBs that need solder wicked and replaced. It's probably the same with the TAKATAs except they should've gone the extra mile on weatherproof those.
Seems as though everyone involved in the sale and repair of this vehicle is responsible in some way. The vehicle damage report was there for all to see. The repair shop using inferior parts is definitely responsible.
It only killed 28 people... Which is not a lot if you consider how many accidents have occurred with vehicles equipped with takata airbags. And the issues with takata have already been resolved in the late 90s...

Minor accidents are still gonna happen. I got side swiped and we both were paying attention. The girl who hit me just thought she could squeeze between me and another car. You shouldn’t die from that
Somewhere along this chain of "repairs" and sales, there's a few individuals and companies that should be sued out of existence. Very sorry about this woman's death,, but hopefully the information onshortcuts and fraud in the used car market will save others.
Of course all the dirt bag's are now coming out the wood work including Morgan and Morgan to get a pice of the death pie, even though this whole tragedy could have been avoided if the woman was paying attention while driving
@@515ventures3 You may try to look up your particular car, then inquire about the airbag manufacturer. Try a chatbot, it may be able to give you a basic idea if there have been any past incidents with your model vehicles.

There are some things in life you never cut corners on, safety devices is one of them. Someone needs jail time and to be permanently put out of business.
There is no test, per se. The airbag control module, in most cases, is the only test equipment, and it runs a test on all the airbags and seat belt pretensioners every time the vehicle is started by sending a very low voltage signal through each circuit that tests for continuity through the wires and connectors. If this test fails, the module will log the fault, turn on the airbag light on the instrument cluster and disable power to the circuit that failed. If it passes, all this does is insure that the airbag will receive full voltage to the igniter. How hard it explodes, or whether it explodes at all is a crapshoot.
I live in FL. When buying a vehicle, I live by one rule. If it has Miami, Hollywood, Hallandale, Hialeah or anything south of Jupiter on the Carfax, I WON'T TOUCH IT.
That really sucks, I’m sorry to hear it! She would probably still be here if there had been no airbag, instead of one blowing, throwing fragments of anything!
Cars can still be used after deployment, but has to go through state inspection to insure the car is safe to drive. If the car is safe, your vehicle will get a salvage title due to the crash. Airbag replacements tend to be expensive, that's why many rather junk the vehicle than rebuild it. But if you do want to drive a vehicle that got wrecked, don't expect airbag modules to be cheap. At least the genuine parts for the vehicle...
"Let us more safe and at eas" says it all. I wouldn't trust an airbag supplier that begs me to trust them with my safety. I just don't trust any Chinese made parts that cover one's safety in a car and that includes steering components, brakes, air bags, seat belts, and even electrical components.

WTF?
There is literally no recall for airbags on any new vehicle... Wtf are you talking about? Unless your "new" is a used car from SEVERAL YEARS AGO.
I am not sure about all cars with air bags, but mine can be disengaged, when recovering from open heart surgery, they told me to disengage the air bags.
If insurance discovered that you disengage the airbag or it has been tempered with, then they will not cover any medical cost from an accident.
@@NoReply28 Doctors orders, discovered? It is an option some people can be injured more by leaving it engaged. Educate yourself before blathering.
that jumbo car dealer in Florida is about 2 minutes drive away from me all they do at that establishment is crazy stuff
Wow. They're trying REALLY hard not to blame her for any of this. (Hitting a stopped car at a traffic light? REALLY???)
Yeah, hitting a car at a traffic light, then a pole?
My daughter got a car last year from drive time in Bradenton florida, how do I go about finding out if her airbag is affected?
Avoid Chinese products everything made there is junk. Even Lenovo Thinkpad quality has gone down hill since it's no longer made by IBM
Thank you guys I appreciate the responses definitely could help someone with no family guidance like myself 🙏
@@alpzeptaYes. Learn how to build and modify and replace components.
Don't buy temu airbags lol
I don't trust dealerships at all.
WE ARGUED for OVER AN HOUR waiting for him to FIX IT!! Thankfully we traded in the truck anyways!!
I don't have these problems on 90s trucks lol
That car dealership needs to be sued!
no ....take business license and shut down and then sue.
Not only did she pay the toll but lost her life

Horrible outcome to this young mother.😢
I had the 'pleasure of detonating air bags to make them inert'
they are very impressive....
in 1/30 of a second...they traveled over 50 feet straight up off the ground......
.these were from Volvo Trucks, I was in the training department and we needed
to make them safe for demonstration......
do not mess with an airbag......ever...
......when her Chevy struck a car stopped at a traffic signal. As she was driving, how did she hit a vehicle that was at a complete stop? I'm going assume it was faulty brakes because that would be just as, if not more important to mention than the airbag. She wouldn't have happened to have been distracted by something? Something like a phone perhaps?

Car had an accident with enterprise
Sent it to auction
Jumbo bought the vehicle did the body repair replaced the airbag probably sent it back to auction (maybe) and DriveTime purchased it.
That’s what I think because I worked at some sketchy spots.
This is terrible sad!.😢😢
Shouldn't have airbags. They are crap !
i agree. they arent needed. they cause more harm than anything, and are used as an excuse for insurance companies to total vehicles
My car was still running after being slammed into a brick wall (not my fault other driver rear ended me)
These multi point inspections consist of kicking the side tire and checking the dip stick nothing else. Don’t be fooled.
I think it's because the boards weren't potted or sealed because they didn't anticipate this occurring in a cars lifespan lol
I have 30 year old cars with speedometer PCBs that need solder wicked and replaced. It's probably the same with the TAKATAs except they should've gone the extra mile on weatherproof those.
Chevy is now Chinese garbage. What a sad, sad realization
I always buy my vehicles used, privately. never deal with stealerships if you can avoid it. be vigilant yo.
When the crooked dealership orders airbags from Temu...
Also, do not text & drive PLEASE!!
Dealers are the biggest scammers driving vehicles with dealer licenses plates and even buy car from private owners after accidents
buying a car with an accident is absolutely fine, just have to check it was repaired right
So horrible my prayers go out to her family and friends and children so heartbreaking
People can be too short to drive. Sitting too close to the steering wheel is a real danger.
My mom was guilty of sitting too close. Thankfully she listened to me and sat back farther.
Seems as though everyone involved in the sale and repair of this vehicle is responsible in some way.
The vehicle damage report was there for all to see. The repair shop using inferior parts is definitely responsible.
🙏🏽🙌🏽💔 condolences to the family and friends
Especially her babies. 😢
Every single mother enjoys her kid while her kid suffer from lack of a father
New fear unlocked
There are not finding their way into the market. Businesses here in the states are buying them. They should be in jail. In my opinion.
TAKATA airbags have killed SO many people.
It only killed 28 people... Which is not a lot if you consider how many accidents have occurred with vehicles equipped with takata airbags. And the issues with takata have already been resolved in the late 90s...
Toll = Paid
hell is hot
2:46 my point exactly! "it's just a crash, she'll be ok" this mentality is very bad for everyone in America. they think a crash doesn't matter or is minimal. this is the problem man! they just don't understand the severity which is why so many drive distracted. If they knew they could lose their life they would pay tf attention to the road. really infuriating i have to share roads with people who say "it's just a crash" NO , ITS A CRASH. tf.
Very true indeed. Still very sad it happened to them.
Near impossible to identify who did it.
So the car had a recall that was never addressed, that's why that $20 car fax is worth it
Toll paid
Toll paid with Chinese airbag.
And now the blame game begins.
Of course all the dirt bag's are now coming out the wood work including Morgan and Morgan to get a pice of the death pie, even though this whole tragedy could have been avoided if the woman was paying attention while driving
Deception at its best.
I gotta check my airbags on my car. I will sue the heck out of the company that sold me my car.
Look at them all trying to pass on the responsibility to the other company.
1000 bucks for an airbag is nuts. It probably costs 100 bucks to manufacture.
lots of bad decisions
She was distracted driving and airbag karma made sure it never happens again.
omg. Life is one big crapshoot
how old are these cars with airbag defects?
2020, it said this one was.
@@coreymillia my mom and I drive a 2013 & 2011. How does anyone know if we have Chinese airbags?
@@515ventures3 You may try to look up your particular car, then inquire about the airbag manufacturer. Try a chatbot, it may be able to give you a basic idea if there have been any past incidents with your model vehicles.
I love how they want to put the blame on everybody except the girl that died who ran into a stopped car because she wasn't paying attention there is some liability there😮😢
There are some things in life you never cut corners on, safety devices is one of them. Someone needs jail time and to be permanently put out of business.
How about creating a GoFundme account for her children. There going to need help in many ways?.
Wow so sad condolences 💐
So scary.
Because this could happen to anyone.
This is just terrible be very careful when buying a used car that has been in an accident.
The impact from those air bags can be worse than the collision with the other vehicle.
Person who combusts coal.
How difficult is it to test a new airbag ?
There is no test, per se. The airbag control module, in most cases, is the only test equipment, and it runs a test on all the airbags and seat belt pretensioners every time the vehicle is started by sending a very low voltage signal through each circuit that tests for continuity through the wires and connectors. If this test fails, the module will log the fault, turn on the airbag light on the instrument cluster and disable power to the circuit that failed. If it passes, all this does is insure that the airbag will receive full voltage to the igniter. How hard it explodes, or whether it explodes at all is a crapshoot.
well she went black
Toll paid in full
Damn! So she survived the crash, but shrapnel killed her. Went into her head and neck. That has to be unfathomable.
Prayers to the Children and Family.Sad
Man, baby daddy splits and leaves you to work fast food job to raise them as single mom and then this. Very tragic all the way around
I live in FL. When buying a vehicle, I live by one rule. If it has Miami, Hollywood, Hallandale, Hialeah or anything south of Jupiter on the Carfax, I WON'T TOUCH IT.
Heartbreaking
That really sucks, I’m sorry to hear it! She would probably still be here if there had been no airbag, instead of one blowing, throwing fragments of anything!
💯💯💯
Scary. 400 miles per hour. plus the velocity her head was traveling at. Sickening
These are ESPECIALLY dangerous in moist environments, the charge absorbs moisture and becomes explosive rather than expanding rapidly
I thought once the airbags deploy on cars they are total and can’t be used on roads anymore.
I think they end up with a salvage title.
Depends on the state
Cars can still be used after deployment, but has to go through state inspection to insure the car is safe to drive.
@@cerisem7727 cool thanks for the information.

"Let us more safe and at eas" says it all. I wouldn't trust an airbag supplier that begs me to trust them with my safety. I just don't trust any Chinese made parts that cover one's safety in a car and that includes steering components, brakes, air bags, seat belts, and even electrical components.
She probably would have survived the crash WITHOUT the defective airbag.
I didn't get what exactly is the difference. Airbags are supposed to explode, aren't they? And where did this "shrapnel" come from?
