👏👏👏 Wow, this is the first time I hear about considering water as white paint! It's brilliant. Thank you for this great advice. I will paint differently from now on knowing this. Greetings from Haiti
This video is not a simple watercolor class ... it is a Master Class on watercolor. I love the way that Sensei Shibasaki has so masterfully explain the concepts and procedures. Everything makes it look so easy. His metaphors are very beautiful and so successful that one runs away to do what he says. I love your videos!
shibasaki san! you really inspire me to start learning art and painting with watercolours :) thank you for all your hard work and please continue uploading videos!
HAHA I laughed so much when you talked about the lid the bottle grandpa 😂 I use two cups usually but I want a small bucket like yours hehe thank u for this lesson grandpa. You make my heart happy.
I use a plastic peanut butter jars with a lid. It works great and bring a bottle of water to fill them. I don't like to waste the paper cups.Great video. Thank you!
I have always tended towards using small plastic containers from like prepackaged fruit cups or applesauce. I never used two separate things of water to help lighten. It's been awhile since I've painted, but honestly I had never thought of it this way. I'm hoping I can get back into watercolors because they really bring me a lot of joy, and am hoping I can bring these techniques to the table. As someone entirely self taught. It's very helpful to have your videos to reference to teach myself better techniques. Thank you.
Thank you as always Shibasaki. And to whoever the video editor is, they are also a genius. Honestly there‘s nothing I can suggest to improve these videos. Just keep doing what you’re doing for as long as it makes you happy. And know that it makes many others happy too. 🙂
Had been using two cups of water, but used the second one only to clean the already cleaned brush. Never used it to lighten the paint. Your videos are soooooo good!!!!
I am a naw subscriber after watching 3 very useful painting videos on the role of water and how to paint a deciduous round shaped tree, a palm tree and an elephant. I also watched you video asking for feedback from viewers and your sadness about too few viewers made me sad for you. I found your videos helpful. The tree instructions were well done and I now feel more confident I will paint them better due to details of your demonstration. The 5 minute elephant painting was a little too fast for me to comprehend the steps you showed - I will continue to watch more videos and give you constructive opinions about them. I am a new painter eager to learn from an experienced artist like yourself and am about the same age you are. After a year of practicing watercolors and doing pretty well, I know your teaching methods are good and hope you will continue to share your knowledge with those of us who greatly appreciate your generosity in showing us how to improve our painting skills. Many thanks from a grandmother in America who has loved art and painting my whole life , but working and child rearing did not allow me to become an artist until now. Please keep teaching, and the numbers of students viewing may not be as important as the quality and effectiveness of your teaching a few truly earnest people whose lives you have the power to improve. I hope your health is fully restored and you adopt positive outlook- and yes it is worthwhile to continue doing what you love so much for the people who share your passion but lack experience. Thank you.
Grandpa you are the best! I learned a lot from you and i didnt know you must use two cups or jars for water before when i started watercolours. i truly look up to you and you make me happy
Thank you, sir, Shibasaki-san for your excellent lesson about the importance of water used in watercolours! Wishing you all the very Best always! More greetings from Sweden!
To be very honest I always get two containers of water. The first becomes a grey colour like it just came from a factory. Because I play too much with colours and it gets dirty. The second I try to use when I want the colour to be pure. I am a beginner so I always paint inside and I get to change my water often. Those tips are priceless, especially the one about the water adding luminance to the paint colour. I was so impressed that you painted with sea water, I wonder if it changed the final image. Very important lesson, get well teacher and may your cup of happiness / water always be full 🙏🏻🙇🏻♀️💙🖌💧💧💧 正直に言うと、私はいつも2つの水を入れます。

This makes a lot of sense in a short and simple manner. I am also watching these videos to learn a bit more Japanese, so I watch without subtitles.
I definitely didn’t know about the water is the same as white. I always used just one container of water (& a small amount at that... 😅) so it’s good to learn to have 2 sources of water. I also really liked that you showed that the “white” water can get a little dirty too since it’s just getting some to brighten the color. I look forward to using this for my project I mentioned yesterday! 😊👍🏽💕
Shibasaki-sensei, thank you for this video! I’m starting to learn watercolor painting and I tried to learn using tutorials but it turns out I’m not that great at the basic techniques 😰. I’m going to start watching these every day and practice to try and get better!
I did not know that, this is amazing, i alwaiys paint, first light color and last dark colors and for make light i didnot paint, i left the paper color as light, what you teach its amazing now a can correct dark colors, really thanx about that, some do not know how important this white paint tecninque is great, you ate the first to teach that online, i wil publish your video on my social mida to share this content
Master Shibasaki, thank you for your wisdom. I use to paint long ago when I was a teenager but I have learned from your videos that what I was taught was incorrect. Through your wisdom I am learning to paint again.
i've been making my way through your videos slowly, and while i've been sketching with watercolours for some time already, i always learn new things from your channel! it helps a lot with teaching myself new watercolour techniques. thinking of water as white paint makes a lot of sense!

The Teacher of the Millennium! Love for The Great Master! Your lessons make me feel happy. Thank you so much!
I had literally NEVER thought of water as white paint before. This is... extremely enlightening, honestly.
