8:45 what you say about imitation is spot on. It’s not a bad thing to copy someone who has had thousands of hours of valuable experience! only when you reach those same hours of experience you will blossom towards new horizons.

I am a very, very beginner player. But listening to your wonderful explanations, with the second camera showing your hands, gives me a goal, and hope! Thank you so much.

Dude your channel is awesome I haven’t found a video I haven’t liked or that hasn’t helped. I think you are really doing the world a justice by allowing people to get free piano lessons and you are one of the best teachers I’ve seen on RUclips.

Hey josh! I know that you performed at a Chopin competition! Did they give you any feedback on your performances?

Shouldn't you not want to start the piece right away with rubato so that you can set the tone of the work for the audience? Then as the piece goes on you play around with rubato, but never the same rubato too often or it gets predictable?

Christopher Chapman it’s difficult to talk about how exactly you should do rubato because the hole idea of it that it should just come naturally and you can even do it differently every time you perform a piece on the stage or even at home. But rubato sounds also quite good in this mazurka right from the beginning, probably because of an octave “opening”

Would you please stop going on, and on, and on about Sergei Babayan, it's so irritating!!! He is not considered as anything close to a top pianist. I find him incredibly irritating and his interpretative ideas for the most part are very distasteful and lacking musicianship. At times he is just downright silly, for example in his terrible rendition of Mozart's 'Piano Concerto no. 25' with his embarrassing added ornaments. It's like something out of a circus it's so bad! Why don't you just focus on yourself and stop fawning over a second-rate pianist any chance you get, I'm sick of it. I very much doubt that you would have such a high opinion of him if you hadn't studied with him! By the way, I can't stand his past student Trifonov either; what a total narcissist and he's a dreadful composer. Piotr Anderszewski, Grigory Sokolov and Radu Lupu; now these are real pianists with great musicianship! Why don't you talk about them instead!

If you had a RUclips channel and posted videos like this I'm sure you will keep mentioning Aderszekwski, Sokolov and Lupu a lot as well, the question is what if a loaf of idiotic self absorbed human being comments on your video "why do you keep mentioning those people? They are not great pianists, why don't you mention this and that instead"? Whatever your answer to my question is should hopefully answer your question for Josh.
      Have a nice day!

Bro Aidan, if you don’t like his taste then you can leave no point in criticizing someone’s taste and make them see things your way, yeah?
