    Next recommendation usually safe to react:
    - _"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!"_ live at "Legend 1997" held in 2013, you can find that clip at Gans Tomas under "Head Bangya" title, please don't go for another channel version just because of the amount of views, it has some audio issues and a long unnecessary outro.
    Alternatively you can watch:
    - Rondo Of Nightmare live at Budokan 2014 with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro, you can find a clip safe to react at "Kawaii Metal" channel.

    It's funny you mentioned the non existence of vibrato on this song. It works well on some songs and not on others, but Su also has one of the greatest vibratos I have ever heard. Her ability to sing AND control the crowd are unrivaled. I think she makes a lot of metal bands angry simply because she keeps the crowd in the palm of her hand for the ENTIRE show. It is truly a sight to see live.

    • @chrisharris1522
      @chrisharris1522 Год назад +9

      Vibrato is just a technique the same way a guitarist will bend a note, it is not a measure of how good a singer is. Some singers completely over use it and I think it is more a cover for less actual control rather than some example of fantastic vocal ability. Su sings the way she does because there is a very loud and powerful band behind her, and as anyone knows the band sounds ten times louder when you are actually at the venue so she needs those high clean notes to cut through and be heard, everything in Babymetal is done for a reason, everything in the name of The Fox God

    • @martinmetal7481
      @martinmetal7481 Год назад +4

      @Chris Harris yes i agree with you, and i know that, i was not too happy the way that reactor said it was as if Su's vocals were something less because she does not use vibrato
      As Billy Connolly said, using that style has ruined some good songs
      But i am not going to try imitating him singing using vibrato .🤣😁🤘🦊

    Welcome back to the Fox Hole. Great reaction and analysis but, as has been said below already, this was the official video so it had the studio audio dubbed over the live performance footage. Su-metal is even better live and everything you said about her just hitting the notes, no warbling vibrato to hide anything, is absolutely correct and true. She is an extraordinary vocalist and does all that while dancing.
    I would love to hear what you would make of their song 'Shine' and Su-metal's performance of that at their Legend M concert in 2019.

    I cannot articulate exactly why, but in addition to J-Pop, Rap, and Metal, there is also unmistakable traditional Japanese influences in the musical DNA, but that is to be expected. Considering the song is about a Summer festival, if you listen carefully to the underlying melody you can hear traditional festival beats.

    Wow! Beth has come back to BABYMETAL and thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 Speaking of stamina, BM requires it to the audience. When you attend their show someday, you will come to know it is very hard to keep swinging towel above your head for 4 minutes all along. It is very fun. though. In June 2019, F. Hero came all the way to Japan from Thai for the world premiere of this song and he had been very nervous to perform at a huge arena in foreign country. This is an MV of live footage coupled with studio sound. At the actual venue, Su-Metal shouted "Come on F. Hero!" to summon him. And at the end of this song she screamed "Thank you F. Hero!" then the three girls bowed deeply towards him to show their respect. That scene makes me happy.

    This is not one of my favourite Babymetal songs, but when I saw them live a couple of days ago, it was one of the more impressive performances of the night. When she really managed to nail the belting (which she doesn't _always_ do, even though you might think that from all the post processing done to the official "live" videos), you could feel it in your chest. Her voice can be so insanely strong and full, I'm not sure I've heard much like it outside of opera. It is a bit hard to reconcile with her being such a small person on stage. If you just let her take a break from all the dancing, I'm not sure she'd need the damned microphone.

    That was great.
    You really zeroed in right away on some of the unique characteristics with Su's voice.
    She uses very little vibrato, instead just hitting exact notes like a boss.
    I'm not a Japanese speaker, but native fans have mentioned that she is exceptionally clear and easy to understand.
    Even with heavy guitars, bass and drums. : )
    This was actually the studio track over live footage, but her voice is as good or better live.

    Thanks for doing this reaction, even if you had some problems.
    Let me put it this way: the ladies in Babymetal started Babymetal when they were just 11 and 12 and after they stopped growing they've become more and more trained (as a non-English speaking I wanted to say lanky, but they aren't tall at all. They are rather tiny actually, but on stage they look very tall). They probably have abs of steel.
    If you want to hear her diction: I would suggest the song BxMxC. Preferably live. It shows an other side of Su-metal as well. Please, please, please stay away from the MV, the studio album does not show her voice. A compilation exists with a single sound source/one concert: BABYMETAL - 'BxMxC' [LIVE PROSHOT] [SUBTITLED] [4K HQ]

So, when this old headbanging warhorse is feeling down nothing can perk me back-up quicker than watching these three truly talented young ladies scampering around the stage while singing uplifting pop as brutal metal plays behind them. Alas, Amuse record company can be difficult with their blocking which completely baffles me as the reactions are free advertising for them. Frequent pauses are often used to try to get around this issue. Should you choose to return to the Fox Hole at some time in the future, 2 great choices for Su-Metal's vocals are "The One" and "Rondo of Nightmare."

    G'day Beth,
    I listen to all types of music, I am a emotional person & if it makes me feel something no matter the genere I will be a part of my life,
    I have been getting into BABYMETAL since YT recommended them to me, the Power of the music from the band combined with the Childlike Energy of the ladies just makes it so inviting to stand up & join in, very much like Blue Man Groups "Time to Start" & "What is Rock", plus while not understanding those Amazing Voices in Japanese the Dancing is so descriptive & can be very mesmerising trying to follow the story they are conveying, especially the Running dance they do in "Catch me if you can".
    I am so impressed by the way the ladies can sing so precise while doing all that dancing & jumping (which others have noted this is a studio track, but SuMetal can actually do live) where we have seen many other very well know performers resort to miming with a vocal track so they can dance as it is too hard for them.

She's got a lot of J-metal/J-pop kind of stuff, but also some classical Japanese songs like her training background, and I'd be very interested to see what you thought of her vocals; her vibrato is especially interesting, but she also has fantastic control in general. - if you search for Babymetal - BxMxC live version, you can hear Sumetal's Vibrato. The reason it's not there because (I think) they are using the studio recording on top of Live's music. But when Babymetal perfom live, you can hear Sumetal's vibrato clearly.

    I highly recommend checking out another Japanese group, but this one is a band rather than a vocal group with a "backing" band (although the Kami band are excellent, the focus is on the vocals and choreography aspects of Babymetal's performances). The band is called Tricot (pronounced "tree coe") and is made up of three young ladies - two on guitars, one on bass, and all three singing at various points (one is the primary, with the others mostly doing BGV's but occasionally a more even blend, too), along with a (very accomplished) drummer. Musically, they fuse a number of styles - stating that they "just play what we like": a perfect attitude for music! 🙂
    In particular, I'd recommend their song "Inai" - which has elements of jazz, prog-metal, math rock, and bits of J-pop.

    Thank you for your reaction and your insights, yes, SU Metal has an outstanding control over her voice, if you wish to explore further, you could explore the evolution in both her voice and their sound, following this path:
    Akatsuki
    No Rai No Rainbow
    Shine
    ... and their last song Monochrome.
    Unfortunately the latter is available only in studio, as it's freshly new, but for the others you can easily find clips from their live shows.
    If you'd prefer to check the full package, I'd definitely start with Megitsune.
    Another quite unique song is From Dusk Till Dawn.
    About PA PA YA!!, many collaborations were featured on Metal Galaxy, but this one and Brand New Day with Polyphia are definitely my favourites and those working better.
    Thank you so much.

    My favourite singer, singing one of their fun songs off my favourite album of all time, Metal Galaxy! The stylistic diversity in that album and her vocals is just incredible. With that much diversity, you’ll get mixed reception from most people, but for those growing up on Spotify and RUclips, where all genres can be explored, this is a gold mine. Hope you can react to Shanti Shanti Shanti, Shine, Brand New Day, BxMxC, Night Night Burn, Dance Dance Dance, or Oh Majinai. They all sound so different from each other and are all on the same album!

    Beth -- thank you for your kind words and taking the time to do this reaction. Su sure can sing her ass off, eh?
    I think she is the best female vocalist on the planet, with Kai Hansen from Helloween / Gamma Ray as the best male vocalist (check out the performance on Walls of Jericho -- his work on that album is beyond stellar). Your low vocal growl was extremely impressive -- didn't know ya had it in you! ;)

    Welcome back to the Babymetal Foxhole. "PA PA YA" is from Babymetal third album METAL GALAXY. Papaya is a tropical fruit available anywhere in Asia especially in the region of South East Asia. "PA PA YA!!" is a dance song with an underlying massage of striving for personal excellence, collaboration with a very well known Thailand rapper from Chiang Rai name Natthawut Srimok nickname Golf but known popularly by his stage name F.HERO (Fukking Hero) and specialise in the Hip-Hop and Rap genre. Some remarks in Thai lyric translation part:
    Molam= Thai-Isan local music
    "Papaya -Pok-Pok= Thai pun phrase means Som-Tam, Thai food made up from papaya-chopped mix up with chilli, tomato, garlic, palm sugar, lots of vegetable and others depends on varies area. "Som-Tam" also have the same meaning with "Hanaka"= Thai old snack, slang word means like "sugoi" in Japanese. Great reaction. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.

    You do have to keep in mind that this is the studio track laid over the concert footage. However, if you watch the actual concert audio, you'll find that... she actually *is* just a great as the studio version, only better lol. It's got even more energy and excitement, and the rap is off the charts as the kids say hehe.

    Suzuka's tendency to roll Rs in English lyrics is fascinating to me. Did she learn English from a Glaswegian, or is there some value in casually rolling those Rs?

    • @flowerdolphin5648
      @flowerdolphin5648 Год назад

      I don't know about pop singers, so I don't know if Su is doing it for the same reasons, but in classical singing being able to roll your r is a skill that we have to learn, if we can't already do it naturally. Some teachers even specifically teach it, but mine didn't, because she knew from the start that I could basically already do it and I just needed practice to get used to it when singing. As far as I've discovered it helps with connecting notes in terms of keeping pitch and tone color more uniform because you don't have to move your tongue all the way back in your mouth first, it stays in the front, making it easier to transition from one syllable to the next. Idk if you've ever noticed, but the normal English r has quite a dark color, which you don't want in every piece you're singing. And it also takes more time to form an English r than rolling it, that's why it helps with fast passages too if you can roll your r.

      Its because the r in Japanese is like the rolling r without the rolls if that makes sense. Like the first roll and no others.

    • @EvilRobotSteve
      @EvilRobotSteve Год назад +1

      Japanese doesn't have the same R sound that English does. You do not move your tongue to make the English R sound, but you do for the Japanese one. The rolled R in Japanese is more aggressive sounding. You'll hear it a lot in yakuza movies.

    Great, hope you will explore more from Babymetal- the most important band for metalmusic the last decade. They broke new ground and paved the way for many, oftern female, bands and muscicians from Japan but have had a great impression on other parts of the world too. For interesting voices and mixes of voices I suggest the japanese band Broaken by the Scream- 4 vocalists with a great backing band. ruclips.net/video/VTkdvEx49hc/видео.html
