  • This was the whole reason I started my bike journey; I wanted to ride one of my Dads bikes around a Rally that he attended and volunteered at every year.

Just watching again. It's a lovely bike. Great vid. If you do the decompression thing it should be easy peasy and starting is something enjoyable. . Piston speed well up by the time it gets to comp and ignition. 👍🏻Cheers Charlie, from Charlie 😊

What a cracking video to start with.
What a lovely little bike, you must be so proud with what you achieved, your dad would be the same.
Hope you feature the Beezer in some ride outs when the weather gets better.

I had a BSA B31 as a kid, a hard tail. Free from someone’s back garden. Got it going and I used to ride it around The LBC clay pits as a 11 year old. Learnt my craft there passing my test at 16. Life long journey! 😊

Did it really need a new battery? No values shown on the Volt meter.
@2,55 The headlight is on. Is there a keyed switch by the batt or does the switch on the nacelle distribute the elec. power, cos it later looks like the switch (which are prone to wear and poor contacting) needs a fiddle to work?
@4.17 Stamping on the gearlever, ouch!! Poor thing.
I'm a skeptical sod and get suspicious when work is filmed in the dark, speeded up like when the new batt is 'fitted' "l've done some things"
When Jeff had finished with it (pity that wasn't filmed)you said starting was very good with the previous batt.
There seemed to be some further work being done at the show....
However, your leg kicking technique is improving.😁

Good to see you riding a great piece of British history. To stop wet sumping talk to Polly Palmer of Britie (if he's still trading) to buy a non return valve. I've used one on my BSA 500cc A7 SS twin since the early 1990's and it works perfectly.
Also is the magneto timing correct? You should not have a very blue exhaust pipe like yours is looking. Sorry to be a 'nit picker' but it might be the reason it didn't want to start first or second kick.

Having been the fearful owner of a B33 500cc single can I first recommend a kick start rubber, when it comes back at you and it will the rubber does lessen the bruising. Secondly always wear boots with an instep and make sure the kick start pedal is firmly located there. I personally wear a pair of Hunter wellies not only for the continuous rain but also with a good insole it adds cushioning for the kickback. Anyway my dream bike wanted to kill me so eventually had to exchange for a 1969 Triumph Tiger that in comparison turned out to be a pussycat! Good luck and Happy New Year!

Oh Wow x 10! This is going back to a time when motor bikes where proper bikes that where built to last a long time and not need replacing every three years. @10:44 who needs music on a video when you have a bike that sounds like that? Gotta love that sound. Wish you all a happy and prosperous new year.

Hi Charlie, if your not using the BSA very often the clutch plates will have a tendency to stick. before attempting to start the bike pull in the clutch lever & kick the bike over, this will free up the clutch plates. Then you can go for a fire up, if your lucky 1 or 2 kicks with the clutch pulled in should do it. If its been left for a long time it may take more kicks, just keep at it until you feel the plates free up ! Cheers, Gerry.

I assume there is a decompression lever. Push kick start until you feel compression. Pull in decompression lever. Push down about quarter kick. Release lever. Kick start back to top then firm kick. All the singles are the same really. Also you get a better and safer kick standing alongside. Sorry if you know all this but I.m sure some of your mates are classic riders and will de.onstrate. Will start easier and better. Er.... in theory 😂 lovely bike, well done too. Dad hopefully watching from up there. 👍🏻
