@@EverythingMusicRecording mostly as I’m levelling, subtractive equing or dialling in attack/release times on a compressor, always trying to use my ears instead of my eyes in those cases and it’s helped a bunch!
Thanks Ben! Glad to know I’m not the only one who does this lol. But yea it’s very hard not to mix with our eyes just due to the nature of doing most everything ITB. But any chance we can close our eyes and step back (as you clearly are already aware of) it absolutely helps us out 🙂
Great video. Great advice. Bought a single fader about 5 years back for this purpose. Makes the balancing part of my mix process happen much quicker. Select channel --> close eyes --> raise the v :)
Oh the faderport. Maybe I’ll pick one up. At least as a tie over. I’d really like to get the Mackie MCU Pro and then add 3 of the expansion units. That would give me 25 faders… for a “small” fee lol Dearest Lottery. Might I win you one day?
I use the mouse wheel a lot, with my eyes closed, to zero in on a perfect setting. If you place the cursor over the parameter you need to adjust, using a trackball works best as the pointer doesn't wander off, you can adjust that parameter without the visual feedback.
Good advice! Hippy dippy works!
Lol hippie dippy definitely has it’s time and place 🙂
Legit tips. It’s the same mental reason we turn down the car stereo when we’re trying to find a location in busy traffic. 😃👍🏻
Hahaha yea pretty much 😁
Two very, very solid tips. Not weird at all.
Lol thanks Jaime! I couldn’t imagine I’m the only person who does this but so far it seems like a good number of you guys and girls do as well 🙂
Closing my eyes whilst mixing has been a game changer for me lately 😌 great video & tips!
Good to hear that!! When do you start doing that anyway?

Good stuff!! And same here. I do it pretty often while adjusting all sorts of stuff 🙂
Both great points I do exactly the same! Many people (myself included get into the habit of mixing with their eyes rather than ears

Oh nice. I’ve thought about getting a single fader for that purpose as well. Glad that’s working out for you tho 🙂
@@EverythingMusicRecording do it! I have the Presonus one and it works seamlessly with my LPX system.

I agree that can also work well, depending on the plugin. Some it works well for and others don’t play nice when using a scroll wheel.
