    Can you imagine justifying the expense of this building to the taxpayers of 1841?

    • @mikebell0315
      @mikebell0315 4 месяца назад +2

      It was built to accommodate the Canadian government vs a city council. Kingston was the first Canadian federal capital.

    • @colinjohnston5734
      @colinjohnston5734 2 месяца назад

      To be fair there was no income tax in 1841. The majority of people didn’t pay taxes or vote in upper Canada in 1841 so they wouldn’t even be a factor when the government made their decision to build this.

    Thank you so much for showing us this beautiful city hall.
    It’s nice when people are not rude or entitled.
    Have a great weekend 😎

      I do everything dude...
      It really bothers me that people think that only the government needs to be audited and learn their bloody rights... And sometimes learning them is embarrassing and even painful...
      Regular people VOTE for corruption like this, and through ignorance they are ALLOWING the cops and government to strip all our rights away...
      They're quick to call armed men to come and quite possibly kill a man with a camera while chanting "defund the police"
      Blaming the government for corruption is like blaming a snake for biting you instead of blaming yourself for disturbing the snake

    Comments about wasted tax dollars is off the mark. This building is an important Canadian heritage site. It's old and of course costs $ to maintain in a dignified state.
    It is a major tourist attraction and brings huge traffic to downtown businesses during the warm seasons.

    The limestone buildings in Kingston and area are beauties. Town Hall.....wow!
    Nice mention and honour/tribute to the WWII Veterans 👍
    Nice to see an accommodating town hall.
    Kingston initially became the largest town in Upper Canada, and was the capital of the new Province of Canada 1841-1843
    That was a great tour Rick!
    A+ on that audit 👍

    Nice architecture. People don't realize that when nothing happens, there's plenty of value in the videos: 1) Nothing happened, and that's good; and 2) Bit of a tourist view for those who cannot travel or get a chance to see what's in Canada.

    A shameful thing in Kingston is just down the road, the tearing down of the Sir John A MacDonald statue. Kingston is a shameful town to what it used to be.

    • @galaxytraveler5779
      @galaxytraveler5779 3 месяца назад

      I know, I drove by several times when the wokies were doing their little ceremony.
      Apparently, the leader of this woke group told the Kingston police that they were going to protest the statue and then march to city hall where they would burn an effigy of Sir John A and they demanded that the police didn't come anywhere near the area, to which the police complied.
      I drove by the second time and they were all sitting down like kids listening to a story and one of them was handing out an egg to every idiot. Then they all proceeded to throw them at the statue. The municipality removed the statue either the next day or within a week.
      The 'woke mind virus' is a very real thing! And it is being fostered by authority and government

    Major tourist attraction, often prominently featured in tourist advertising. Fort Henry costs money to maintain too. Stop spending on everything? OK, watch the tourist sector die. Everyone loses jobs, then they spend less, and taxes have to go up to make for lost revenue. Higher unemployment translates to higher crime, meaning even more burden on the taxpayer.

    How many tax dollars spent on this? Insane.
    Why is canada expensive when government spending seems unlimited?
