I hate when they say the MMC is grumpy but really he’s just mean. It’s absolutely enrages me when they change the cover of a book to something terrible and plain. I also hate when the character will name the same hair and/or eye color everytime they see the other character.
This was me with ice breaker. Anastasia wasn't grumpy, she was just plain old mean. Also I'm reading this book at the moment where instead of saying "her eyes tracked me across the room" or whatever, he always says "her greens" cause she has green eyes. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Like why 😭😭
I agree with some of these, especially the social media one. It’s a pattern I’m noticing in these recent romance books I have Jenn reading and it’s not even realistic 🫤.
When a character is described as grumpy, brooding and quiet but is actually just mean and toxic. Those are different things!!!! And it gets personal because I'm often described as being quiet and brooding. Yes I'm quiet and brooding but that doesn't make me disrespectful, unkind, unaffectionate or toxic to my loved ones. Fictional men need to get it together.
I don’t share all of these peeves but, the way you talk about them is hilarious. 100% agree with the movie book cover though. I don’t want that on my shelf. 🙄😁👍🏾
To piggyback off " love triangles", I can not stand when the triangle is between brothers. Meaning the FMC is trying to choose between brothers ( ewwww )
I agree with so many of these! My number one is virginal female main character. Absolutely nothing wrong with being one just not in every single romance. It’s an automatic go to for authors, they use it as if it’s a personality trait, when 90% of readers no longer fit into that category. It irritates my soul!
Same! Especially when they were presented as children in their parent’s books. That’s just so weird for me, especially when it has smut, it’s like I’m reading the intimate relationships of a child I saw grow up (even though I didn’t), it just feels so wrong 😅
Agree with a lot of yours haha but here's mine: I have discovered that I don't like 80% of the fated mates books that I read because it feels like it's so often used as an excuse to not make the characters have any chemistry or romance. If they're just "inexplicably drawn to" the other one for literally no reason from the moment they meet that is so darn boring to me. I want them to get to know each other and fall in love, I want to feel the feels with them and not just be told that "for some reason" they feel a bond and I guess they have to be in love because destiny. Tell me why they're attracted to one another, even just saying he/she is so darn hot they can't help it is better than a magical invisible bond. There are exceptions where it's well written but a lot of them just feel like lazy writing, to me, and I don't enjoy it.
I don’t like when there is not enough time spent on the main characters getting to know each other before all these strong feelings become involved. Don’t like movie covers either. Don’t like pop culture references or slang that doesn’t age well.
Omg this was great! I hate when my description of a character has to change later on too! And surprisingly I’m okay with the shirtless man on the cover but makes it’s it hard for public reading/purchases.
I really don’t mind if they bring up social media just not in such a cringey way😭 I thought of twisted lies when you said instagram but i love that book🙏 I think Ana does a good job at not making it too much!
"where did the hate go" EXACTLY! this is one of the reasons i only like that trope in fantasy mostly, because the hatred can run deep into the plot and the character development. when characters in a contemporary novel hate each other based solely on miscommunication it is so dumb. i don't mind initial dislike to lovers in romance but like when they act like ENEMIES and are just, like, coworkers? come on. idk it peeves me a little. i like when popular tropes have a purpose to the characterization and story, and aren't just clearly lines to put on a blurb.
I relate to the legacy one, the only book I could read with that is The Heir and The Crown from The Selection series. All the other ones are just not IT Ps. I read that book a long time ago so I don't know if I would recommend it
With the plot twist thing, I started reading One of Us is Lying and all it took was for me to read the back of the book to figure it out. I mean I still read it and finished it but it took me longer because there was no mystery that attracted me
EDIT: yessss you mentioned it too! sort of in the same vein as book titles in books- i HATE pop culture references. not even when it's just excessive. at all. takes me out IMMEDIATELY. this is fiction, this is a different world i am escaping to, don't quote taylor swift? don't mention tiktok trends? it ages the book so poorly as well and it always reads like a netflix middle aged writer's room trying to act like teens (this peeve i mostly see in YA)
I feel like in a love triangle everybody should be in love....with everybody...a triangle is three CONNECTED lines....so why are the two guys or two girls not contemplating being with each other as well.....but that's just my take.
I hate it when I read a teaser for a book and it says: “she went to his room and said i dont wanna be alone” or “I didn’t know where to go” BUT they already did the dirty 5 times basically alr told each other they loved them
Bully romances I just hate them so much, I refuse to believe they magically fall in love with someone who was tormenting you and making your life crap. And I feel the chosen one trope is used WAY too often in books more for young adult books but still I feel the vast majority of young adult fantasy books have a chosen one trope.
eden would you ever consider using goodreads? you would make the world a better place if u put ur reviews on their because people LIEEEEEE, like i dont even want to count how many times those reviews have let me down 😭😭
I cannot be more agreed with the enemies to lovers pet peeve cause what do you mean she hated her because he always wears dark colors 😭😭 like wydm! Give me something that both of them dying of the hate that they have each other and the chemistry is there.
I hate when a guy is supposed to be a bully and then the main character comes along and then not only do they act toxic to the main character, they also just become so sweet. Like the original personality goes through a blender. I. Hate. This
Cartoon book covers or even cartoon end papers of the main characters…wth??? How can you become invested in a romance when the image you’re forced to have in your minds eye is of two cartoon people 😳. No, just No.
Yes! Why on Earth would you alienate your POC readers by slapping a white man on the front of your cover. How am I supposed to want to read your book about romance when the cover has a white couple?!!
The inappropriate age gaps. Like omg, I refuse to be part of your perviness. Also I hate it when the male character's laugh becomes a big thing. Like they turn it into some big event every time it happens. It's just a laugh it can't be that great.
I always crack a laugh when you randomly mention names - Sarah, Suzanne, Jonah😭😭 Your humor is top tier!!
Ahaha thank you!!
"reading is voluntary, sometimes i forget that." well if that isn't the most relatable thing i've ever heard 😭
Oh my gosh the cheesy covers I just can’t! I wish that there were always options you can choose from
The movie poster book cover thing is actually so infuriating!!! that plus the Netflix sticker😭😭
I hate when they say the MMC is grumpy but really he’s just mean. It’s absolutely enrages me when they change the cover of a book to something terrible and plain. I also hate when the character will name the same hair and/or eye color everytime they see the other character.

I genuinely just don’t want my real world and fictional book to collide is that too much to ask for 😢😢

I completely agree with all of these 😅 also.. loving the random name drops 😂
I don’t share all of these peeves but, the way you talk about them is hilarious. 100% agree with the movie book cover though. I don’t want that on my shelf. 🙄😁👍🏾

People on covers is so true 😭
Like even if it's a girl I don't like it
i agree, no social media in books ❌❌
I agree with so many of these! My number one is virginal female main character. Absolutely nothing wrong with being one just not in every single romance. It’s an automatic go to for authors, they use it as if it’s a personality trait, when 90% of readers no longer fit into that category. It irritates my soul!
Omg! I agree with the first one. Cause why am I seeing the children of the characters love story. It's so ood in my mind 😭
And I so agree with the her being embarrassing in front of the mmc cause why. I genuinely have to put the book down
Same! Especially when they were presented as children in their parent’s books. That’s just so weird for me, especially when it has smut, it’s like I’m reading the intimate relationships of a child I saw grow up (even though I didn’t), it just feels so wrong 😅
Yesss the love triangles I also can’t stand them either. Like the anticipation and tension is building up just for you to choose the wrong person 😭
Agree with a lot of yours haha but here's mine: I have discovered that I don't like 80% of the fated mates books that I read because it feels like it's so often used as an excuse to not make the characters have any chemistry or romance. "imagine how I feel"
People on covers I totally agree get that out of here 😂
I wasn't aware of my strong dislike regarding legacies but DAMN you're speaking the truth
I don’t like when there is not enough time spent on the main characters getting to know each other before all these strong feelings become involved. Don’t like movie covers either. Don’t like pop culture references or slang that doesn’t age well.
I agree with you especially when you spoke about the 'enemies to lovers' novels. I love your accent though 😊
Omg this was great! I hate when my description of a character has to change later on too! And surprisingly I’m okay with the shirtless man on the cover but makes it’s it hard for public reading/purchases.
you're so real ily😭 HEAVY on the frst one omg
I really don’t mind if they bring up social media just not in such a cringey way😭 I thought of twisted lies when you said instagram but i love that book🙏 I think Ana does a good job at not making it too much!
I’m sending you love and self care!
I just found your channel and I absolutely loved your video. Funny and so much truth.
You should read darling venom if you haven’t already also THE COVER IS PINK
I relate to the legacy one, the only book I could read with that is The Heir and The Crown from The Selection series. All the other ones are just not IT
Ps. I read that book a long time ago so I don't know if I would recommend it
u should make a whole video about book covers.
I love her voice ❤❤
I’ve been busy with class I finally get to catch up with the videos 💕
With the plot twist thing, I started reading One of Us is Lying and all it took was for me to read the back of the book to figure it out. I mean I still read it and finished it but it took me longer because there was no mystery that attracted me
The names she names 😂😂

EDIT: yessss you mentioned it too!

I love her , in eden i trust
Eden I’m curious what books ur starting the year off with🙂🫶🏾
I genuinely adore how honest and funny you are❤❤❤
Friends to lovers. I don't like it,there's something about it
I feel like in a love triangle everybody should be in love....with everybody...a triangle is three CONNECTED lines....so why are the two guys or two girls not contemplating being with each other as well.....but that's just my take.
They don't have to end up together....I just feel like at some point they need to contemplate it... question the possibility
oh my god, i think the exact same thing 😭 i thought i was the only one
i was so dissapointed in it end with us since it was such a hyped book but i predicted the ending literally nit even half way…
Love your content 🫶🏾 have you read the acotar series yet? I feel like you would really love it.
You're SOO beautiful!!!
I love u somuch i hope you know that i check for your review on books before deciding to read them or not 😂
Same as soon as she says it wasn’t good I remove from my basket 🤍😭
I agree with all of these!
Silver lining to the media in books, in 100 yrs they'll be accurate historical fiction 😂
I hate it when I read a teaser for a book and it says: “she went to his room and said i dont wanna be alone” or “I didn’t know where to go” BUT they already did the dirty 5 times basically alr told each other they loved them
Oh and its said that they are ENEMIES
100% aggree
love triangle ahem the inheritance games ahem

when it's an enemies to lovers but he's an actual bad person like girl??? i want an enemy not her family's killer
Could you tell us when u update sincd its now twice a week 😅
3:58 The implication that Tumblr is not extremely active threw me.
when there are fake stickers on the cover of the book advertising the tv show, movie, or the authors new series NO THANK YOU
eden would you ever consider using goodreads? you would make the world a better place if u put ur reviews on their because people LIEEEEEE, like i dont even want to count how many times those reviews have let me down 😭😭
I cannot be more agreed with the enemies to lovers pet peeve cause what do you mean she hated her because he always wears dark colors 😭😭 like wydm! Give me something that both of them dying of the hate that they have each other and the chemistry is there.
i hate when the girl is really innocent and dumb but she’s like 18 it just doesn’t make any sense
I hate when a guy is supposed to be a bully and then the main character comes along and then not only do they act toxic to the main character, they also just become so sweet.
Like the original personality goes through a blender.
I. Hate. This
I also don’t like faces or cartoons on covers!
omg the one about people covers? whyyyyy? how dare they?
The epilogue baby….gross I’d rather not.
Cartoon book covers or even cartoon end papers of the main characters…wth??? How can you become invested in a romance when the image you’re forced to have in your minds eye is of two cartoon people 😳. No, just No.
Cartoon covers or people in covers is so EMBARRASSING to read outside, I can’t stand it. I must really like the book if I’m reading it
OMG! You have to make a video about the books you hate/don’t like
I can't handle cringy dialoge!!! I had to dnf fourth wing for this reason
Yes! Why on Earth would you alienate your POC readers by slapping a white man on the front of your cover. How am I supposed to want to read your book about romance when the cover has a white couple?!!
