Chasing GIO Rail's Slug Set on the Port Colborne Job

- 2023 is now firmly in the books, and I decided to kick off the new year by heading north of the border to Canada once again! Seeking out Southern Ontario's shortline GIO Rail for a second time, I would find them wrapping up work at Verbio in Welland with the railroad's rebuilt GP9RM and S3 yard slug set! After heading back to the interchange with CPKC in Wainfleet, the crew would then head south along the Harbour Spur for Port Colborne, and once in the city they would shove covered hoppers to ADM's elevator on the Lake Erie shoreline before I would break off and head elsewhere!

Love that Holden-Burnett M3H horn! Not very many of them around anymore! I remember when they were a dime a dozen on CN and CP.
Nice to hear classic railway crossing bells.
Great to see Port Colborne at its finest. Now you have to do the other side of the canal at the nickel plant.
Great catch, cool locomotive/slug set! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Nice catch and chase Matty!
Thank you!
Pretty cool video Matty! Very Professional ;)
Nice and beautiful awesome catch
Unusual horn sound.
Great catch sir! Those slugs are cool.
Thank you! They sure are, I was glad to see this set was out and about!
Cool to see an old CN covered hopper (now NKLX 200704) where the CN spelled it Canadian National on one side of the car and Canadien National on the other side. Ah, the good old days...
To bad Gio Rail dropped a customer when they decided to withdraw from St Catherine's. Now more trucks on the road.
Nice Catch On The Mother &Slug
Hey Matty, one of my grandsons, 4yrs old, is a big fan of your channel! He loves the opening sequence (still the best in this genre IMHO). He's really into trains and we frequently watch your episodes together. Cheers.
Right on, that's awesome!
"Live Rail" sign at the beginning....like don't be fooled, these rails are active?
