This is another gem. Love the silver hook with the color combos. Great contrast and tasty.👍🏻😎I’ve tied for nearly 40 years and still love learning new stuff from other tyers and their techniques.
Fun Hobby with great rewards either from smiles of a recipient or finally hooking that fussy fish on a fly you tied yourself.
I enjoy all of your videos. Thanks so much.

Sincere Thanks for your amazing Silver Doctor. It was my Grandfather Stevens' favourite Atlantic Salmon Fly when we used to fish the salmon pools in the Saint John River at Hartland New Brunswick Canada back in the 60's . Such a special memory that you restored with your fly.

As always brilliant fly Davie. Someday I will have thread control approaching yours. Won't live long enough to practice as much as you have but I'll not stop trying. All the best to you. Thanks as always for sharing your wisdom. Sean

A really nice pattern Davie and for sure a such shining hook increases its alluring qualities!

      Hi Luca,
I would definitely say that silver and gold hooks do give a pattern a boost in coloured waters and to enhance a colour combination but I'd say that black is still the most popular coloured hook...I'm glad you like the fly...
      All the very best Davie

Hi Dave, mostly of my salmon fishing nowdays is in Norway, because I like the real opportunity to catch huge fish: if you hook a salmon over ten kilos, you became addicted to that "drug". In my last trips I use hooks, mostly trebles, in black nickel finish, but in the past I preferred a selection of salmon hooks called the Grey Shadow (they were grey in color) and I loved the double and moreover the treble. Unfortunatelly they are not more produced. Ciao Luca

      Hi Duncan Pepper,
I will be putting together a list of patterns for this winter and if you have a favourite of Bobs flies then send me a link or dressing of it and I'll see what I can do...

    Hi Davie,
Just getting back into my fly fishing on the Annan after some thirty years after being dad`s taxi. Nice to see more Sea trout this time round catching several on a barbless Czech Nymph fly fishing for Grayling with a med sinking line, thanks to one of your video tips on You Tube.
Do you use complimentary colours in your Salmon flies.
Complimentary colours are a primary with its opposite secondary, they have an after effect on the eye which makes them look brighter with one another.
Red with Green, Blue with Orange and Yellow with Purple.
    Kind regards Mark

I must be an old b@$tard because I love the classics much more than the modern foam based monstrosities. May be why I don't catch as much as I'd like but my fly boxes are glorious looking.

Excellent flea Davie. Have found it great for trout (sea and brownies) in Heelans in smaller sizes and on singles, with some slight variations, especially when brownies are feeding on fry.
Just wondering why I can't download this video for posterity and future reference - Has RUclips changed something or have I done something to annoy RUclips by downloading your past videos? Cheers, Tom

I'm glad you liked the fly as you said it a good all-round pattern...I don't know why you can't download the video as they are available to the public to view..

Hi Davie, what I meant was that I could not download the video (i.e. save it). I could view the video, no problem. However, now the issue has been resolved and the video has now been saved. I think I may have tried to download it too early after publication. Anyway, thanks again for a great educational film.
