P. Candice Goddard Beyoncé is a BLACK WOMAN who proudly embraces her African American heritage so idk where you get the notion that she would identify herself as mixed race.. Her album Lemonade is the most prominent example of her black pride with her song “Formation” being a literal Black Power anthem. Sure, this dolls skin tone is a little deeper than real Beyoncé’s but Poppen did her absolute best and you really didn’t have to spew your BS at the OP for appreciating this artwork and identifying with it?? Based on your bleached avi photo I could probably see why you felt the need to comment what you did, but jfc don’t project your issues onto a famously proud black woman such as Beyoncé....

Wow that's amazing! I watch a lot of doll repainting videos and I find that when the artist tries to achieve a darker skin tones it always appears gray-ish, chalky, and dull. I think some other brands would be better for certain celebrities vs the monster high dolls. This one was really fun, but I think it shows that the monster high molds aren’t for all faces.

Like another commenter, I have had similar initial confused reactions to celebrity doll repaints.
I believe, like with the James Charles repaint, that this is artistic representation of a person not an exact copy. I don’t think an exact copy is possible without sculpting the entire face/head of the doll.
It is because I am so used to seeing Poppen turning dollish facades into more outstanding life like appearances.
That being said, I think this doll is wonderful, an absolutely tribute to motherhood, feminine divinity, and Beyoncé herself.

Thank you so much! Yeah, it's almost impossible to copy a fave on a doll if it's not a special mold sculpted especially for this person. When I repainted Emma Watson who's face was sculpted like Emma Watson, I think she looks pretty much like the real actress, and with MH dolls I can just make some sort of a cosplay))) when you are copying someone's style and makeup but you still not exactly the same looking person))

I feel like that could go sideways quickly. Monster high made an Indigenous doll. I think she was supposed to be Navaho. I think it might be a cool idea as long as she stayed away from regalia or goddess forbid... war bonnets! Walmart makes off-brand American girl dolls theyre called "My Life Dolls" if theyre not available to her maybe she could have one sent from the USA. They are much cheaper and cheaper made so she won't feel as bad about destroying them.

Funny because I thought the same... but I went for it anyways. I'm on welfare, due to health issues, and I have very little money, and somewhat I was able to make it work! Really there's no need to have much to start experimenting. Dollightful did a wonderful video of customization on a budget. As for me, I started on dollar store dolls with cheap yarn and I've manage things. The hardest thing to find was sealant, but there are a few alternative to MSC if its not available in your country. (All the dolls on my channel currently have faces done without MSC or any sealant that works in a similar fashion).
I don't mind chatting about it if I can help. ^^b

Have you ever used cosmetic highlighter for a realistic doll repaint? I saw HeXtian (a doll repainter on RUclips) use the Jeffree Star highlighter Skin Frost in the shade ICE COLD and it looked so amazing and realistic on his dolls. Have you ever tried using anything like that? If so did it work for you and is it worth spending the money on?

Hi! I used to use regular makeup (shadows, highlighter and blushes) in the very beginning of my career but I've learned that they don't really work good with the sealant, in the beginning it looks ok but all these makeup products contain oils and after a while (9-12 months) you can see how the sealant becomes yellowish and the surface starts to look greasy. I sell my dolls, so I cannot do this. I've re-repainted one of my first dolls made with makeup some months ago and you can see there how glossy and greasy the surface looks, I could say immediately there was done something wrong. That video was called 'beginners drawing mistakes' or something like this
