The burnt sienna looks like a quin gold deep or a quin orange deep. It’s beautiful caramelized sugar!

As always, I missed the live show...but still got my fix of your lovely voice and pretty swatching, even if a bit late to the party!

Hi Lily I hope you are doing well, lovely video. Thankyou for sharing your views on Daler Rowney Aquafine. I did have a couple of their watercolours but I wasn’t that impressed with them like I am with Schmincke Horadam or Daniel Smith Watercolours they didn’t seem as natural to me. Anyway you take care and sending you my love xxx 🥰

Thank you Louise!❤️ I was looking at them after I swatched them for the video and thought that they looked more like watered down gouache rather than watercolors...and not very natural like you say. Sending you much love too! xoxo☺️

😍 Very nice! I've always wondered how these paints performed. I suppose I'm guilty of judging them too quickly when I saw the price and thought they'd be gummy and low pigmented like the Winsor & Newton Cotman line of paints. Lesson learned - never judge a book by the listed price! 😅 Thanks so much for sharing! 🙏☺

Oh wow, are the Cotman's like that? I do want to swatch some, at some point on the channel as I don't think I've tried them before, it would be interesting to try them out and compare 👀 Thank you so much for watching and for your valuable comment!❤️

Thank you for this thoughtful review. These paints aren’t horrible, they are just…fine. The Naples yellow pigments are all wrong though and the peach pink is neither (sorry Daler-Rowney). That vermillion hue (pyrrole scarlet pr255) is lovely though. I think one should invest in artist grade paints, even if one has to buy them one or two at a time. The results are better and the painting experience is much more satisfying. Thank you for sharing with us and for my booster shot of hope for the weekend 😘

Yes! A small palette of quality watercolors will delight more than any huge amount of sub par ones. And as a beginner you get so much valuable information from using them. Thank you so much for your lovely comment!❤️

Nice selection of colors, and I definitely think that once you know more about pigments in general, there are some nice finds in "cheaper" brands too. I believe (lightfastness and pigment load aside) that the paper matters a lot more.
    Lovely chill vibes as usual.

Thank you! I agree, paper matters so much when it comes to watercolor.☺️

Thank you for your interesting commentary. Perhaps these colors are much prettier up close and personal, however, they look chalky on my iPad screen that shows up color well. I wouldn’t purchase them, though I’ll admit that the ultramarine pink looks nice. Maybe chalky is too harsh, but they certainly look flat. But I loved listening to your thoughts on them. Thank you very much.

TYFS. 🙏 I haven't tried the higher quality DR paints. I was hoping for a pinkier peach, too. 🍑 Loved the burnt sienna. Sorry I missed your live session. I slept through it, even though it was a much warmer and sunny day here. 😂 🤗🥰❤🥰🤗

No worries at all, I am so happy to hear you had a lovely relaxing, warm sunny day! I agree, the peach is not "peachy" at all!! But the burnt sienna is pretty though.☺️❤️

I got a ultramarine light and dark shade with a free art bag from a student day art shop, i never got round to using them, i will need to test out the dark one now see if it granulates. Sweet video. Love watching your swatches

These are a student range, on a par with Cotman. A few of them are way different from the colour you would expect, and also a bit different from their half pan colours. They are not at all comparable with Roman Szmal which are genuine artists colours. They are also not at all comparable with the Daler Rowney Artists colours which are very nice. These are usable, but as you say, a bit gouache like depending upon the colour. The Naples yellow is very like a Naples reddish yellow deepI once had as an oil paint years ago, but nothing like any ordinary Naples yellow. The peach pink is just a rehash of what used to be called flesh pink, no peaches there at all. Not sure who these are aimed at, I would not give them to a student, too confusing…. Maybe if they are non toxic they would be ok for children? They seem to have very little flow….. they are very different from their half pans sets which are a little nicer than Corman, but quite similar in colour range. Frankly I am a bit baffled by these!
