I just heard the story from Ad-Rock that when they were recording the album, MCA bought an old pilot's helmet with a microphone which was busted. He fixed up the mic and attached a long cable to hook it up to his equipment and recorded this track in his apartment wearing the helmet! :))
I saw that story too, they were talking at Capital Records for the 25th anniversary of Paul’s Boutique. I love that story and it makes you think about all the cool things that MCA probably did during recording sessions.
I bought this album the week it came out and literally wrecked my tape by constantly rewinding it just to play this one track back again and again... #RIPMCA
Amazing.... Paul's Boutique is in my top 3 records ever hip hop or non-such, great video, love seeing the cover artwork amplified like that, and what can be said about the immortal Adam Yauch Well done man, great job, on a timeless song, stellar tribute Thanx
I never knew that was MCA on the cover. and I've had the album for 30 years, had to pull it out and take a look you can make out Ad-rock and Mike D but no way on MCA can't see his face at all
Paul’s Boutique was the strangest release out of nowhere! These guys were huge and then disappeared. Only to come out with this waaay late after the first album. It never got much recognition but it was always my favorite! Every track is killer
I completely agree with mroc7113 on everything. "Paul's Boutique is in my top 3 records ever in hip hop or non-such" and this is one of my favourite tracks. I too believe t's the best video on RUclips not only for creativity, originality and good taste, but because it makes me enjoy details I hadn't noticed and moves me deeply.
Most people pick Car Thief as the best track on the album, but this was always my favorite. Those lyrics, mystical urban acid b-boy poetry. RIP MCA
I heard that when this album was released it received terrible reviews from critics but is now considered one of the greatest albums of all time.

Oh whoa a Lester Bangs reference
Totally dig it. RIP MCA.
Always wanted to confirm these lyrics, I was way off on a lot of the lines lol 🙏🏾
"mix the bass ale with the guiness stout!" that's at 1.31! not sure why no one mentioned that here?
Is that guitar originally by BB or is it sample? If so what´s the original?
Isley Brothers " That Lady "
MCA took the photo too..way before 360/panoramic photography was a thing
well he was in the photos so I guess an assistant operated the camera.
Kendrick....
montageofheck they came first
