worth upgrading, definitely. I’m coming from an original Fenix 5 sapphire 47mm. So it’s had a long life and battery is still 7 days when not doing anything smart on the device. Now it’s time to upgrade.
Umtb is at Chamonix, it is the centrum of the world for trail running. Been there and they do paraglide there all the time. Perfect setting for this presentation by garmin in my opinion.
I have the Fenix 7 pro solar, MIP 51 mm. I'm leaning against upgrading as the price point increase seems to be above the limited improvements offered, especially on the hardware side. It would be interesting to see what the usable screen size real estate is in the solar version of the 51mm 8 as compared to the 7. I was actually hoping for an AMOLED solar option that would bring battery performance even higher for that variant which would justify the price for me.
Garmin apparently filed for a patent for an OLED with Solar a while back so they're working on it! Whether it ever gets good enough to go to market is another matter. Thanks for watching! 💪🏃
Awaiting delivery of a 47mm amoled sapphire in black. I am upgrading from an old Apple Watch. As a hiker, I really appreciate what Garmin have done with the battery when using gps and multi band. It’s a big improvement over the epix and will be well received for multi day hikes
@@Fozzee.1970 possibly not a physical battery improvement, possibly software? Either way, if you do multi day hikes (2-3 days) like I do, it’s a huge difference when navigating. If it is a software change, maybe they could update either watches?
I love biking. Hiking. Running. Freediving. Perfect. I also can use the mic and speaker If I need to call someone and my phone is in a bag safe on my fleet.
Got mine today. A 51mm AMOLED Fenix 8. Upgraded from a 6X and it's quite a big improvement but not so sure if I had a 7. It looks great, battery seems to have dropped by 10 percent in 6 hours so not expecting it to be a game changer for charging. Some menu differences in the way but pretty intuitive.
I've been holdng off upgrading my Fenix 5 for this release. Looks like a no brainer. The extra cost is a hit, but doesnt really matter in the longer term scheme of things for something that is used every day.
🤗 good spiking hear ! My Istinct solar has lost battery life after 4 years,,,, so a month ago I got a Kospect Tank T3 Ultra at redikulas price!!!! Do i Need Fenix 8 ? ,,,well I love It but for now not spending all that money 🤙🏻🍻🤗
Garmin web page says that F8 has a built-in thermometer. I was also yesterday in a store and saw the temperature measuremnt somewhere in the watch menu. So it seems like a typo on their comparison page.
There will almost definitely be a mid-gen refresh, but if history serves to tell us about timing it would be around 12-18 months out. So if you are happy to completely skip this generation it would be an options, but there isn't anything else on the horizon. You may want to take a look at the Enduro 3 though if you are considering the 51mm. That watch comes in with the updated UI and software features, doesn't have the updated hardware features (dive rating + mic / speaker), and is a decent bit less expensive, lighter, and of course has killer battery life. Thanks for watching!
I have a tactix 7 AMOLED that I'm very happy with. I like the speaker, dive rated buttons, and new UI, but would have liked to see wireless charging, and LTE connectivity. It's a fantastic watch, but not worth the upgrade from what I already have.
For me, I'm sticking with my Fenix 7 solar. There are not any "huge" upgrades from what I already have. If and when it comes time for a new watch, I think I'll be looking at the new Enduro.
I'm a bit confused by the different bezel/case options (titanium, DLC etc). They are not really explained at all on the Garmin site (that I can find anyway).
Be nice if they'd add a Paragliding activity type. They have hang gliding, which is very much on the way out, and wing suiting, which almost no one does.
Having a 47 epix 2 pro and i not change it for the price too high, but i'm interested to diving and speaker.. I wait 8 pro or 9 (hope in solar amoled and processor upgrade to navigate fluid in map) why do you speak about water problem with the buttons? I press buttons also underwater during swim in sea or pool... But i have not problem at the moment... I must to worried?
I really want the mic and speaker, (both for phonecalls when skiing, and for speech to text for messaging day to day) but other than that there's basically nothing else. And no way I could justify £1039 for the 51mm solar. Never had a problem with the fenix 7 solar when snorkeling. Glad they kept mips looking at battery life. Wish Garmin would be little less wacky, connect app could do with a massive update, easier and more fluid to just upload GPX files of phone, use Google pay instead of Garmin pay etc. Maybe in a couple of years when fenix 9 comes out I could justify a 2nd hand fenix 8 solar.
Yes, Garmin definitely seems to be a top tier hardware company that does some wacky stuff when it involves anything else, from making their own pay solution that doesn't support many banks to streaming their live event on creacast 🤣 Thanks for watching and hope you can snipe a good value 8 in the near future! 💪🏃
just an fyi, paragliding is huge in the Alps, not only Chamonix area. in 2019 they had some sort of world championships just before the UTMB series, so might be the case here as well.
Ah that makes a lot of sense! I figured I must have been missing something with the amount of paragliding going on in that presentation. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for watching! 💪🏃
I am very conflicted. Enduro 3 sounds like a great deal but since the fenix 8 has a speaker and tells me about my run time during running, to me that is a must have feature! Although, I am not sure if that’s worth the price increase from fenix 7 / epix lines…
Apple needs to impress me with the Ultra 3. I have been using the original Ultra for almost 2 years, it’s a great watch and it benefits from all the Apple ecosystem features. But after 6 years of Apple Watch, I think I will be happier with a sport watch instead of a smartwatch. I’m really interested by the Amoled 47mm
Having a Fenix 7x Pro, i will definitively not upgrade. I don't need the new features. What would have been interesting is LTE. Then I could leave my phone at home when on trails or bike rides. Maybe in some years. the Enduro 3 could be an option. P.S.; i am sharing your opinion on that product manager guy.
Yes, if they had LTE I would have still said the watch was expensive, but at least it would have been more justified. And Martin couldn't have possibly thought this was a bigger upgrade than the 5 Plus when they added maps!
Fenix 8 is not worth of an upgrade, indeed. If I buy any new Garmin device, it will be Enduro 3, or Tactix if it gets MIP display. AMOLED is still too hungry just for cosmetics as the colour depth is ...
If you regularly find that to primarily interact with your smartphone via your watch, for calls, text, assistant, etc. It may be worth the upgrade to Fenix 8. Otherwise, the Epix 2 Pro Sapphire is an excellent watch and you will get it at a significant discount.
These are just way to expensive for my wife and I. I'd definitely be getting one for each of us if we could. Ok. We technically could but the boss would not allow it. 😅
Yes, they are amazing pieces of technology, but the starting MSRP is crazy expensive. Maybe keep an eye out for discounts by the holidays if you're looking to grab two
No new killer feature unfortunately. The hardware upgrades it did get are interesting but are overshadowed negatively by the price hike. Too bad. This watch has been getting a lot of attention but most of it is not good attention. This watch is getting massacred in the reddit forums.
Very underwhelming update and pretty significant price hike! Even the same CPU/chipset so all these software/UI updates should be available for Fenix 7/Epix line
worth upgrading, definitely. I’m coming from an original Fenix 5 sapphire 47mm. So it’s had a long life and battery is still 7 days when not doing anything smart on the device. Now it’s time to upgrade.
Waited 3 years for this model.
Bought it in Taiwan 🇹🇼 today
Nice! Which watch did you have prior? Hope you enjoy the 8 and thanks for watching! 💪🏃
It's CyberEditing! Love your videos and nice to meet you here.

I upgraded from the Forerunner 955 solar to the Fenix 8 47 mm Amoled. I received the Fenix yesterday and I am loving it!

It's not really
a battery improvement on the Epix Pro.

Ordered mine solar today🎉😂
Great job on the predictions, spot on!!
Just got my epix pro g2 this year, so no upgrade yet…

I have a Felix 3 non heart rate. Now I might get epix 2 pro or this depending on my budget.
Happy training

I love the new look of the watch. Bezel was too large on Epix Pro and this looks awesome now. Hoping to get one soon. Hopefully the wait is not long.
Are there any leaks or rumors regarding the next Tactix?

Thanks for confirming! I assumed as much since the 8 has the same sensor and a lot of the same internals
That most significant update part: I’m pretty sure he meant the pricing. 😉
Whats everyone's thought if they will be release a pro version. I debating if I should wait for a new release or pull the trigger now on the MIP 51mm

will this be a good upgrade coming from an Instinct 2X Tactical?
Hey dave.Do you know which languages are on the menu? Thank you

I don't have any information on that yet, but I'll be sure to make a post / video when I do!

Mine 47mm with orange strap is waiting carrier pickup. 😎
Wait till January for a price drop. I have the 6x pro. Will wait for the 51 Mip Solar.
Skin temp is added under the elevate 5 sensor believe so fenix 8 should have that

Just released and already on back order for most models 😢
Trad somewhere the display was brighter.
Do you think going solar is worth loosing the Amoled?
No def not worth it. I did it on my last model
Still regret it

Can someone explain why every watch has orange accents now? AWU, Samsung ultra has it, and some of these Fenix 8. Why the orange
Have a Fenix 6 Pro and now looking at the Epix Gen 2 Pro, due to the price of the F8. I really don’t think it’s worth it.
Hmmm, buy an Epix Pro 2 now or wait/hope for even better possible Black Friday deal....
If you're okay playing the waiting game I'm betting there will be some good deals in the coming months
